There are also movies with an English title and spoken in English, which can still be considered Dutch. If I wouldn't look closely, I would probably dismiss Brimstone for example. It's in English. The leading actors are Engilsh/American. It is shot in lots of countries, but not the Netherlands. It looks to me like it is set in USA. Etc... But... the director is Dutch and more importantly, it won a Gouden Kalf at the Dutch film festival. So who am I to consider this NOT Dutch.
I actually left out Brimstone as it doesn't feel Dutch enough for me. I have no problems with other people putting it on their lists though.

This short isn't on imdb and is directed by an Italian but I feel like I have to highlight it in some way.

Ranked.

I haven't seen many Benelux movies, so it's a short list. Is Ernest & Celestine eligible? I'm not sure if it should count as French or Belgian.

It's on the Belgian Film Awards list, so Belgian? :P

Plus Aubier and Patar are Belgian. That’s why I did include it.

That's one I missed, as I also have it marked as a French film. Will add to my list as well.

Some documentaries make my list at least a bit longer.

I only nominated titles that had NL, BE or LUX as first production country on the Dutch website MovieMeter.nl.

Only one I doubt is eligible is the Pink Floyd movie. Only appearance might be a stage in Belgium or The Netherlands. Director is French.

It has Belgium as first country of production on IMDb, bit since it's an odd duck on this list anyway, I might just as well remove it. :)

Personally, I always use that instead of the nationality of the director. Otherwise we could say Robocop and Total Recall are Dutch movies even though Carolco Pictures is the production company ;)

Funnily enough in this particular example the IMDb entry seems incorrect for This PF doc, since Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) is the first listed production company in the credits and therefore should really be listed as a German production on IMDb. So I removed it from my nominations.

Lonewolf, do you think De zevensprong is allowed? It's a continuous story, one season, 13 episodes.
Sorry for the very late reply. Only saw this post now.
According to this characteristics I would say it can be seen as a mini-series and therefor is eligible.

Here is my short ranked list. If anyone has any objections to the films in the list then please let me know. I have been careful when working through the IMDB links but it can be difficult to make a judgement call when IMDB is so generous with its country tags!

I contemplated whether to submit a list or not because my list is short, but there are a bunch of directors that I love with films that qualify for the list. One director appears four times, another three times, a directing pair three times, and another directing pair twice. Sadly, it's a region with lots of films that aren't easily available for me, hence the low number of films I'm submitting (u)

Any idea yet how long the final list could become? Top 50 at least, but maybe a top 100 is already too much to expect.

with the amount of dutch users I would be very surprised if everything in top100 didn't get 2 votes

After all, Nordic, Oceania and Latin America all have a top 100. Balkan have 73

Unlike you do for your country, most Dutchies here don't make a point of it to prioritize Dutch movies. I watch them just like movies from other countries.

No idea yet. It all depends on how scattered the votes are, so the lower part of the list isn't full of 2 and 3 votes movies. Probably at least a top 50.

I'd prefer a Top 100, but if there aren't enough votes I suppose a Top 50 or Top 75 would be okay.
Most of our regional polls, if they're not 250, are 150 or 100. I can only find Korea (75), Southeast Asia (50) and Balkans (73??) that are less than 100.
