I‘m a Daft Punk fan, especially of Homework, but unfortunately, imo Interstella 5555 was done during their weakest phase, very much influenced by cheesy french house. So it it was only a mediocre experience for me.
It‘s actually a plotted compilation of music clips, some of which are on imdb on their own, and some of those I added to icm only last month:

I would say it's the other way around. They showed segments of the movie as music videos.

Maybe, although the movie was produced in episodes and according to wikipedia, „The first four episodes from the film were shown on Cartoon Network on 17 November 2001 during the "Toonami Midnight Run: Special Edition". Cartoon Network later hosted the episodes online as part of their short-lived Toonami Reactor project (later revived as Toonami Jetstream).“ Meaning they were released about 2 years prior to the movie. That may be the reason why those 4 episodes are separately on imdb.
Anyway, I only wanted to highlight that some segments
can be checked on their own.

I don't know much about Daft Punk, but I think of it more as a Leiji Matsumoto film. The style reminds me of Galaxy Express 999. I was hoping to see Galaxy Express 999 on the list, but I guess it's too late for it to show up.

Never heard of Galaxy Express 999, looks interesting.

Interstella 5555 is certainly a proper movie with a plot. And it was planned as such by Daft Punk (who wrote it together with Cédric Hervet) early on during the recording of the album discovery. It says Leiji Matsumoto was the visual supervisor and he‘s listed as one of 4 directors on imdb. But I‘m not acquainted with his work.

The King and the Mockingbird is one of the films that got me into animation. It's one of the first obscure animated films that I watched (it was obscure when I watched it, but now it's more well known). Around the same time, I started watching a lot more animated films in the hope of finding more hidden gems.

I forgot to vote for Rabbit of Seville, which is one of my favorites.

Haha, exactly!

I do think Human After All is a bit overly maligned, but even still, it’s way below the level of their other 3 studio albums. I go back and forth between Homework and Discovery being my favorite.

Such low quality that it makes me wonder if the list should be much shorter.
There are a lot of very good films in the #201-250 range, so I think the list length is fine.

I see that as part of their weak phase too. After homework, they regained my interest only with RAM, which had some
nice stuff on it like the homage to Moroder.

Certainly a trick question. But it definitely includes stylistic characteristics.

This 16-bit video game look, with hardly any typical anime elements, certainly isn't part of it for me.
Then again, I also wouldn't include shorts like House of Small Cubes, which may be directed by a Japanese director, but feels more European to me.

So is a light switch.

Those are simply people who were around listening to Daft Punk in the 90s.

Not sure which video mode was used, but neither the MSX nor the MSX2 do yet have 16-bit. It‘s rather 8-bit.

Not sure which video mode was used, but neither the MSX nor the MSX2 do yet have 16-bit. It‘s rather 8-bit.
The amount of colors used looked a bit excessive for 8-bit to me, but it's been 25 years, so I'm sure you're right :)

Still 12 new entries left. Three of those are from the 20th century, one even from the 70's. One is from 2013, but maybe too recent for our previous poll. The other eight titles hadn't been released when we did the previous poll.

Any guesses on the highest new entry from the last five years?
