iCM Forum's Favourite Animated Movies 2019 (Nominations, Jul 21st)

iCM Forum's Favourite Animated Movies

Image

The deadline is 21st July 2019
  • Shorts, mini-series and TV-episodes from anthology series where the episodes are unrelated, are allowed. Tv-series aren't allowed.*
*IMDb will be leading in this, but if you have good arguments exceptions to the rule can be made in consultation
  • IMDb lists and iCM lists are accepted. (If you can't make one of those, ask another user to help you out.)
  • Lists can be any length.
  • Each nominee can only be named once (of course).
  • Your list may be ranked, unranked, or partially-ranked. In a partially-ranked list, the top X films are ranked and everything after that point is unranked. When not specified I will consider a list as ranked.
List length will probably 250, just like last time. Halflife to be decided later.

Thanks to Mulholland for hosting the previous edition in 2014:

(A top 250 was presented, but there's no top 250 list on iCM.)

And because I think Koji Morimoto doesn't get the attention he deserves, by way of exception I added a short (his best stand-alone work) to my list (his overall best is probably his Genius Party Beyond entry):

I look forward to screwing up the iCM list again with my stupidly obscure choices.

Are films combining live action and animation allowed? E.g. Otesanek, Song of the South, Mary Poppins.

And what about CGI? I feel like every big budget movie in the past 20 years was half animated with CGI.

If it feels "animated enough" to you, you can vote for partially animated movies.

I'm not going to exclude anything, because I'm absolutely not an expert here, as you all know.

I would add anything where the lead is animated. So the Hulk movies is in, but Avengers where he's supporting is out. So this would include Smurfs, Chipmunks, Garfield (not that anyone would vote for these movies). Easy rule: if the movie is named after the animated character it counts

If it works for you, that's fine, but I won't make a rule out of it.

Draw the Line

This is my list, including a lot of old shorts and a few politically incorrect movies (Little Black Samba and Song of the South). I included some films with live action where the animation is central. I didn't include films with one or two animated scenes (Kill Bill, Natural Born Killers...) or films where the animation falls more into the special effects category (Life of Pi). I also included some episodes from Shakespeare: The Animated Tales.

But at the bottom, the immanent philosopher sees in the entire universe only the deepest longing for absolute annihilation, and it is as if he clearly hears the call that permeates all spheres of heaven: Redemption! Redemption! Death to our life! and the comforting answer: you will all find annihilation and be redeemed!

I can't figure out how to get the Pixar short La Luna into either an imdb or an icm list. Whatever I put into the search engine in those list-making pages, it does not provide the correct movie as an option. Any ideas?

Copy and paste the bit that starts “tt” in the film’s IMDB URL into the search bar while making your list and it’ll come up. So for La Luna, the URL is https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1957945/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1, so put tt1957945 and La Luna should come up.

Wow, can't believe it's already 5 years since that poll.

I had really low standards back then, probably wanted to have a long list despite the lack of views. how pathetic . I deleted about 70 and added about 100 movies.
