Not sure there are any major surprises so far - but then I'm not sure what would surprise me given that I've never taken a really close look at the previous poll. But I guess the number of votes for kid/family stuff - and not just animated films - is a little weird. Annie, for instance, not a particularly well-regarded film.

And if there's a disappointment so far it's that the 1936 Show Boat didn't do better, though at least it made the list.

I know! Given the enormous love for everything Bollywood that we see everyday on this site, it's a shocker. But don't fear, I expect at least half of the top 50 to be Aamir Khan vehicles...

Seriously though, I *almost* put that on my list - if I were focused a little more on the songs and a little less on the boring sports in the film, it would've been there.

Damn, I didn't even think of Fantasia when I compiled my list, since it doesn't have the musical tag on IMDb.

I'm also really surprised that The Gay Divorcee and One Hour With You are outside the top 50. Humph.

I guess the main question with this poll is how high La La Land will debut...I'm going to guess around #12.

I think it will break the top 10, guessing 7th (entirely arbitrary guess, but it is the magic number)

Yeah actually looking at the top 10 last time, there are quite a few that LLL could beat. It may even make #5.

It is tough for me to distinguish between the Fred & Ginger films too, and I've seen most of them at least twice. Apart from Top Hat which I've seen at least 5x and is an absolute favorite, the ones I listed were basically the ones I've seen most recently and remember best. I really should watch them all in a row one of these days, that'd help.

Two new additions to my list - Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and Little Shop of Horrors. Kinda sad I overlooked those.

I feel I might get the highest check rate from all the polls I've participated in … that worries me a bit.

Because Americans love their musicals? In Norway we have made ...4 ...in total.

Like western and film noir this is quite an US-centric genre.

Because I don't like the genre at all. It's one of my least favorites genres out there (I guess only westerns are worse, maybe noir).
It's also somewhat of an indication that at least for this poll, people stuck to the big classics rather than come up with obscure forum favorites.

Seems to me that the "big classics" are suffering massive drops across the board here compared to the previous version

I don't think the musical genre is nearly as US-centric as western or noir (though one wouldn't know that with the results thus far), especially given India's (specifically Bollywood's) massive output of 3-hour films with multiple songs.

But nobody here would want a list filled with multiple Bollywood titles either.

Unbelievable indeed. I've nominated for DtC multiple times, but it's too big a name to be successful in DtC.

Yeah, not many improved rankings for hollywood classics - like 3 of them in the top 100. I doubt #1 in the poll is changing tho (graph seems to confirm this :whistling: )

And sucks

EDIT: I did not have it checked. New unofficial check of a film with a very white middle eastern Jesus, woo!
