I just looked at the rest of the list. After #100 there are a lot of movies with just 1 or 2 votes. In fact after #250 all movies have just 1 or 2 votes. And between #101 and #250 113 movies have just 1 or 2 votes. Make of that what you want. ;)

I am extremely surprised to discover that I've seen 50/100 on this list. I would have guessed more along the lines of 10-20, but apparently I've been watching more Iberian films than I had realized.

I didn't realize there was a 2011 TV miniseries version of Mysteries of Lisbon. What are the differences?

Unfortunately I forgot to vote, it would have been #4 on my list (with Diamond Flash not far behind).

I have seen 75/100, mainly because the amount of Portugese films I have seen can be counted on one hand.

What films would make it if you replace the Argentinian entries?
EDIT: Oh wait, I see the link to the complete list now.

I didn't vote as I felt I just hadn't seen enough. Portugal and Spain are two well regarded film countries I somehow don't seen to have given equal treatment. Only seen a tragic 28 from Portugal, including fake hits, and while advance search is telling me 155 for Spain, most are clearly not Spanish.

Still, I have seen all of the top 10, and 55/100 overall. A little surprising. Will use this as a tool to watch more. Hopefully this serves as a good reminder.

Thanks for hosting Lonewolf.
I have seen 66/100.
I guess I was the only voter for my number one, cause that one didn’t make it.

You are indeed.

While the cinema of these two countries is not as varied as some other European regions, there are still quite a few essentials for cinephiles to tap into.

The most ignored standout from my list was Vengo, which perhaps suffers because of its Gypsy-flamenco coloring, as much as its atypical structuring. Two other films that deserve much higher placement are Saura's Carmen (an exemplary film within a film), and Medem's Lucia y el Sexo, which also blurs the boundary between the reality and artistic creation.
