I will do to the other decade polls also.

I just found this

Is this something you do regularly, or a one time thing?

Not a regular thing, but I wouldn't mind doing it again in 2018.

We can do it again after the latest batch of list adoptions. It can be an unofficial poll, and I can host it again. Instead of doing a full countdown, I can just update the list with the new results.

ill do a century ago and half a century ago polls at the end of the year

would be fun if its a deep dive kind of thing
i was thinking a possibility to vote up to 50 movies (points from 50 to 1) and possibility for up to 50 honorable mentions (1 point each)
for a century ago thats quite an overkill but oh well

suggestions? or does it sound ok enough

Because the favourite movies results will end on April 3rd, I will start the 2000s nominations soon after that.

So it's basically a year poll, but for 1917 and 1967? Maybe you can coordinate with the people organizing those to do those years at the end of the year. Seems overkill to me to have even another kind of year poll.

Yes, but one is nominate 5-20 movies
And the other 1-10 movies, and vith a "pick one"-ballot in the end

One exclude all lists with less than 5 nominated movies (and particularly 1917 that might be a problem), the other doesn't rank the movies and we basically only end up with a winner.

I'm very against doing unofficial polls. Because I'm afraid it might lead to an proliferation, which will increase the polls-fatigue that's already noticeable in users.

I'm totally for doing the on zero list poll again, but scheduled in for next year.

I understand the difference with the awards games. But still fail to see the difference with the yearly polls, beside the maximum and minimum number of movies on might nominate. Which to me distinctives it too little to justify a special polling.

as opposite to having 3 or 4 weeks to watch movies for a poll this would give opportunity to watch movies the whole year for a poll

seems like there is close to zero interest in people to join the challenge to watch these films but personally i think it would be a cool idea to have a complete , large official poll(s) 2-4 every year - and challenges for 'em

to me it would make sense for it to be an annual, even number, symmetrical like 100 and 50 years ago +
(other possibilities 10 or 5 years ago, 1/4 and 3/4th of a century etc) rather than just some random years

and i dont like limiting votes to 1-10 at all and it gives very small nominee list and year-by-year poll has a bit wonky system and that limiting top-20 without room for honorable mentions points (even tho small) (to make the complete list / give even a bit of impact)

for me watching a lot of films for 1, 2 or few lists trough the year would be much fun and would give time to better get to bottom of the years but in addition to participate the other two yearly challenges - thats just me tho

Thanks for the spreadsheet. I'm working on cleaning this up from a few dead links and replacing some really bad or tiny screenshots, as well as some in the wrong AR, and also adding some films. If anyone is interested in helping by finding or taking screenshots in the correct AR (so not just google search results), let me know. I've got a few hundred on my to-do list, and still haven't gone through half the spreadsheet, so any help is appreciated.

Sure, I'll help. Send me a list of what to update.
I have send you the latest update of the list before you started the fav-movies-results. Will you update and send it back to me or will you just send me a list of new img-links that I can update in my file?

I'll update it. I also have another idea that might make things even easier but I have to test things first. I'll send PM you a few links, mostly stuff that's not there as I still need to finish sorting some of the others.

In June we're doing the annual 2010's poll and the poll for best cinematographers. Better start the first thread right away, if we want to squeeze both in before the end of June.

Who volunteers?

Lonewolf, can you do the 2010's?

PA, do you want to do the cinematographers? Might be nice to have the same presentation as you did with the director's poll.

I can do cinematographers only if you accept that the results won't be happening until the first week of July. I have no computer until the 29th and presentation for people lists takes longer to do.

That's fine. If Lonewolf sets the deadline around the 20th and you around the 30th, I think it will work out.

Who wants to host the War poll in July? I'm on vacation from mid till end of July, otherwise I would have done it.

Deadline for the cinematographers poll is the 9th of July, so deadline for War can be somewhere at the end of July.

I'd like to host the Canadian poll. Since the War poll is just ending, and the 500<400 poll is at the end of September, I'd suggest a due date around the end of August for this, to space things out. If everyone's okay with this, I'll create the initial post later today.

I second your motion for an end-date at the end of the month (if I've got a vote  ); much as I cut down my list in July I still have around 10-12 must-see Canuck features that would seem to have a chance of making my list, and most of them are long...

Too much to watch from too many countries and too few hours and too many directors and so many genres and too little energy and have to work too much and sleep a little and watch and watch and watch....
Here's to the fools who dream.

This is the place where we keep track of all lists, right?

It has severe backlogs and lot of broken links. Could any of the mods fix them when they have time. I'll also provide the required links when I find time.

Who wants to host the 1920's poll in October? Since the deadline for 500<400 is tomorrow, the nomination thread for 1920's might be started then as well. Deadline somewhere mid October?

December is going to be crowded. We've got South Korean and Directors scheduled and there's also the extra LGBT-poll. Three polls in a month?
(not even counting the year-by-year polls)

Sure, I can do it again. Didn't realize it was coming up already in Jan. :D

When will the new lists be adopted? I'd prefer to wait until after they show up on icm to open to poll so that people will know from the start which films will be excluded. Unless it's going to take awhile, and then we can have those films that are unofficial now but would become official after the update eligible (including those involved in the noir fiasco :p ).

I hope early January, but you never know. Last time some technical stuff took weeks before they were completed.
