So the rules would be.
"Mini-series must be 16 episodes or less, not multiple seasons, and not planned to be longer but canceled. The series should be intended as a single unified work and not episodic."
Only problem i see is that ... it's not exactly the same as the 500<400 rule :)
That sounds good to me.

Waiting for the Italian result to start the mini series nomination thread.
We'll see if we got a lot of voters but maybe an top 100 or 150 will be enought ;)
Wanted to stop the voting a little soon, to be able to post the results before I leave the city, the 5th or March. Should be a smaller pool than usual I guess : what do you think?

You can start the nomination thread now, no need to wait for the results of the Italian poll to be posted.

I made a script for posting poll results, in case anyone wants to try it: viewtopic.php?p=624111#p624111

It seems to be working for me, but I haven't tested it very thoroughly, so if you find any bugs, please let me know.

I have make 75% of the work on the Mini series result.

There are a LOT of missing pics but it was expected...

List is 437 mini series long :
IMHO that could make an top 150 final list... most of the > 150 are onr voter only.
Can someone take a look at the excel file and give me his advice ?

What half-life are you using?

If you want to send it to me, I'll give my opinion.

I haven't received a pm.

What's the average list length? If most of the lists are small, a smaller half-life might be better.

For consistency when there was a previous poll about the same subject that used a half-life of 50. For new subject you can use another half-life. With a small list lenght I would recommend to use a lower one.

I think we usually try to avoid including 1-vote films, and the highest ranked 1-vote film is #141, so I'd suggest not making it larger than a top 140.

Or you could lower the half-life a little bit (maybe 35), and make the list slightly smaller, like a top 125. I think I'd probably go with a smaller half-life and a top 125, but I'd have to see both versions to be sure.

I noticed that nimimerkillinen voted for the wrong Fanny and Alexander (the movie instead of the mini-series), so you might want to let him fix it.

We usually also try to avoid 2-vote movies as much as possible. A few movies with 2-votes cause the voters put it high in their top is acceptable (with 32 voters in total). But if f.e. #101-140 has a lot of 2-vote movies it is best to make a smaller list.

If we want to include 2-vote series only if both people ranked them highly, then top 100 looks about right.

There are some highly-regarded series in the 101-125 range, but I guess it's ok to leave them out, as long as the full list is posted.

No need to redo the whole thing. The votes and points would be enough.

I think I probably won't have a strong preference, so if would take a long time to redo, you can leave it the way it is.

I think I slightly prefer the half-life=35 version, but I don't have a strong preference. In terms of which series make the top 100, only one series would be different (one that I haven't seen).

I noticed some series with more than 16 episodes, in case you want to remove them: Twin Peaks, Azumanga daiô, Steins;gate, The Prisoner, and Shin Seiki Evangelion. The filmcounter program can remove them automatically if you make a list of ineligible titles. There are probably others. Those are just the ones that I recognized.

Tim just finished mini-series, 1001 nominations are running, next up in April is South Asia. Any takers for that? Might be best to wait till the 1001 nominations close to start it.
South Asia for this poll consist of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Should we rename it to the Indian subcontinent poll, just like the challenge?

Here's the Final excel for Mini series if someone wanna play with it.

It was an quite painfull experience using the ineligible.txt and the 8.3 version for the first time.
https://we.tl/t-2AxMhvYqiD

Only the LIST and Last Filmcount Tab 8.3 contains the final Ranking (same has the ICM Lists).

@PA : will you get the scrrenshoot i found for our main Pic database ? If so i have collored the links on the first tab !

I would keep it as South Asia, as those 8 countries are the standard/most common definition of the region. Afghanistan is (almost) never included in "Indian Subcontinent".

I think I have the most recent file of that, so I'll add Tim's screenshots and then I'll send it to you for the 1001-poll.
