I can do it instead. If you don’t want to do it.
I will be very lose with eligibility, basically leave it up to the voters themselves if it fits the genre or not.

It is a lot of work, and i'm a bit exhausted... I think it won't be a good idea if I do it, because I feel like I will fuck up, and it would literally take hours to learn how to do it. It's just i failed some similar projects in the past (mostly fok! top 250), if i really went more into depth and focused a lot on it, it would work, but I don't think it's a good idea, so I think it's better if you do it. I'm sorry for showing some interest before, but I'll happily participate. Thank you.

The more polls we run, the more I think that the half-life we use is way too low. I understand we use 50 to be consistent with previous years but come on

With a half-life of 50, a movie with only one #1 vote and nothing else, would outrank a movie with 30 (!) votes at rank #250.
I mean, #250 is still a high rank, especially for a favourites poll in a forum where the average number of movies seen is near 10,000.

Do we really want to reward a very high rank this much, knowing that half the voters like to submit long and unranked or partially unranked lists?

Edit : never mind, I didn't know it was 175 already

finaly understood the problem with the voters formula.

In french excel, we have to use CAR(x) and not CHAR(x)

Here are 2 solutions for our problems :

That's why I always install my pc's in English. Also done so with my worklaptop. Only downside there is when I want to show things to colleagues. They often don't know which button they should hit on their Dutch installed laptop after seeing me do it.

filmcounter 8.3 has a built-in duplicate checker, so try running it to see if it works. It should print the duplicates to error.csv.

Edit: I just tested it, and the filmcounter 8.3 duplicate checker works.

Duplicate in file Gordon_Gekko ranked700.csv at #448 and #458: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110413/
Duplicate in file Gordon_Gekko ranked700.csv at #689 and #693: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1375666/

The only issue is that the ranks are slightly off, because it ignores duplicates when counting ranks, so it says 689 instead of 690. But it also gives you the IMDb URL, which makes it easy to find the duplicate.

I guess i'll have to use 8.3 to duplicatecheck the Fav Movies process then ... or use excel at one early point.

What has put me on the wrong direction is that i was sure duplicatechecker worked as i saw it working once or twice ...

1001 Corrected Urls sent to Mighty for the ICM Fav 1001 List

Was doing statistics this morning and found an last nasty bug where Ebby's total votes were higher than they should be.
I made an mistake computing the Unranked points... : I did divide by the 740 films of ebby's list ... but i divided the total points of Ebby + DudeLanez that was just above Ebby's on my spreadsheet.
Hopefully DudeLanez had an small 140 Films list ... but those 140 do counts and all ebby's votes were 14,55104376 points highter.

Lesson Learned : it would have been safer to compute the list one by one in excel instead of managing them in one giant Batch.

The significant shift on film ranking from the "Dual Vote undetected" problem :

Here's The Excel File for the 2021 Results.

Some of the sheets are usefull to understand How i managed to create the posts, especialy the voters List

Delta between 2 last year is now corrected, all the 2021 rankings are corrected as well.
All info about every movie are IMDB Up to date and i removed all the unknown, duplicates and Dead Lines.
I have included the voters history sheet.

I have toons of info on bigger version of the file here : let me know if needeed.

@Joachimt : can you pass the file to PA in case he wants to host next Year ?

Yes, cause I did the 1970s poll last time as well, it's easier that I do it this time also. This also goes for the 80s, 90s and 2000s. It's no problem doing these, it isn't that much work.

I don't mind doing any poll, especially those I did the previous version for. (except the two big annual ones PA did; Favorite Movies and <400) But if you want to do one, let me know. I also don't mind letting others do some a month of course ;)
