Seen 10 titles from 2019 so far. One 8/10, one 7/10, two 6/10, rest lower.
Not participating, but eager for the results for recommendations.
Even if you like 1 or 2 films, you are welcome to list them if you like. Two years ago, the top film got by only a few points. Your contribution may make a difference.

My list will probably be missing Chiwawa and Miike's First Love. They look like sure contenders for a top 10 spot, I have both of them here, but no time to watch them before the deadline. Not that they've been mentioned a lot, just a heads up for people who might be interested in these films.

Only focused on "pure" 2019 films. Cause it takes too much time to figure out which 2018 ones were released here in 2019 and I didn't vote for last time. (Don't want to vote for the same movie in two separate year polls)

Still not seen About Endlessness (no chance) and A Hidden Life (comes to the arthouse in about a month, but may be ways to see it before then), so I'm not too happy about posting my list yet. I am also considering including '18 films, especially I Don't Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians and Birds of Passage, which would be my 1 and 2.

For now I'll do a pure 2019 list and try to catch more over the weekend: Aiming to catch Monos, Jojo Rabbit, The Golden Glove and Martin Eden at the very least.

Will put edits in bold:

1. A Hidden Life (2019, Terrence Malick)
2. Martin Eden (2019, Pietro Marcello)
3. Portrait de la jeune fille en feu / Portrait of a Lady of Fire (2019, Céline Sciamma)
4. Honeyland (2019, Tamara Kotevska & Ljubomir Stefanov)
5. Uncut Gems (2019, Benny Safdie, Josh Safdie)

Note that I will not be getting to the tabulation at least by midweek, so the poll will stay open for a few more days, probably by Wed. You may edit your ballot or add new one until the poll closes.

OK well to make sure I get it in before the deadline here is my list of movies. I have taken it from my Flickchart so it might be a little wonky but it is reasonably correct to how I feel. And yes that really is my #1, I had a ball watching it with my family, a second watch may see it drop but for now it was easily the best movie I saw from last year.

1. Dora and the Lost City of Gold
2. Batman: Hush
3. Escape Room
4. Glass
5. Five Feet Apart
6. Us
7. Captain Marvel
8. Avengers: Endgame
9. Fighting with my Family
10. The Banana Splits Movie
11. It: Chapter Two
12. Joker
13. Pet Sematary
14. The Curse of La Llorona
15. Descendants 3
16. Girl on the Third Floor
17. Crawl
18. Angel has Fallen
19. Shazam!
20. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw

Missed the cut: Eli, Rabid, The Addams Family, Happy Death Day 2U, Rambo: Last Blood

The one I'm really jealous of is Portrait de la jeune fille en feu which "opened" on Friday, but I'm guessing that means NY and LA only - it doesn't open in Chicago until next Friday and I don't know if it'll play closer. Not really that into driving 2 1/2 hours each way in the middle of winter. In any case however I see it, won't be until after the poll has closed.

Hard to find great films nowadays, but here I go (in alphabetical order):

Ad Astra (Gray)
Ash Is Purest White (Jia)
Border (Abbasi)
Capernaum (Labaki)
Fire Will Come (Laxe)
Ford v. Ferrari (Mangold)
Lady J (Mouret)
The Mule (Eastwood)
Ravening (Hazarika)
Richard Jewell (Eastwood)
The Sisters Brothers (Audiard)
So Long, My Son (Wang)
The Third Wife (Mayfair)
The Traitor (Bellocchio)

Also liked Parasite, The Irishman, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Marriage Story, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Pain and Glory... but these are vastly overrated.

In France it released last May (and i'm sad you have to wait 9 months to watch this masterpiece)
But in other hand, we still not have Harriet and Judy

3. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood
4. Richard Jewell

From the very limited options I have - mixing 2018/19, loosely ranked,

Le livre d'image (Godard, 2018)
Ce magnifique gâteau! (De Swaef/Roels, 2018)
Mémorable (Collet, 2019)
The Lighthouse (Eggers, 2019)
Synonymes (Lapid, 2019)
Îmi este indiferent daca în istorie vom intra ca barbari (Jude, 2018)
Atlantique (Diop, 2019)
Hmyz (Svankmajer, 2018)
The Man Who Killed Don Quixote (Gilliam, 2018)
La Casa Lobo (Cociña/León, 2018)
J'ai perdu mon corps (Clapin, 2019)
Un couteau dans le coeur (Gonzalez, 2018)
His Master's Voice (Pálfi, 2018)
L'île au trésor (Brac, 2018)
Ad Astra (Gray, 2019)
Transit (Petzold, 2018)
Touch Me Not (Pintilie, 2018)
In My Room (Köhler, 2018)
Dolor y gloria (Almodóvar, 2019)
Little Joe (Hausner, 2019)

obviously I have a lot to catch up, and with Costa, Schanelec, Beauvais, Heise, Marcello, Bellocchio, and others on the horizon (just to mention 2019), I'm sure this list will look vastly different in a couple of years...

Thanks for hosting, Rufus!
