I have finaly understand why My Media-Info extraction were sometimes wrong :

When right-clicking mediainfo an directory of films, it adjust the number of collums of the final output/extract to the kind of info he can extract from the first file he actually scans.

So if the first file of the dir is an MKV... cool --> everything works fine and you get all the info / collums you need from ALL the films of the dir

BUT

if the first file is an .iso, or .idx or .srt ... you get very basic info from the file... but for EVERY film of that directory....

You just have to move exotic FIRST files from your dirs to make it work better.

I now have every video and audio info about my movies ...

but why didn't he extract the subtittles info :guns: AS REQUESTED

I made a script for downloading IMDb or iCM lists. Unlike my old Java program, you don't have to deal with cookies, but you do have to download the IMDb lists and iCM lists separately (I'm not sure how to do both at once, because fetching pages from a different website doesn't seem to work).

Please let me know if you find any bugs.

To use the script:
1. Go to this page to download IMDb lists, or this page to download iCM lists.
2. Copy/paste the lists into the box, 1 list per line, using the following format:
listurl,username
3. Click download. The lists will be downloaded as a single zip file, and each list will be named username.csv. If anything fails to download, it'll tell you.

To install the script:
Open the Tampermonkey dashboard. Click + to create a new script. Copy/paste the code and press ctrl+S to save.

Code: Select all

// ==UserScript==
// @name download imdb and icm lists
// @match        https://*.imdb.com/list/create*
// @match        https://*.icheckmovies.com/import/toplist/*
// @require      https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jszip/3.5.0/jszip.min.js
// @require      https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/FileSaver.js/2.0.0/FileSaver.min.js
// ==/UserScript==

function error(user, reason) {
    document.querySelector('#errors').insertAdjacentHTML('beforeend', `${user} not downloaded (${reason})<br>`);
}

async function download() {
    document.querySelector('#errors').innerHTML = '';
    let lists = document.querySelector('#lists').value.split('\n').filter((r) => r).map((r) => r.split(','));
    let zip = new JSZip();
    for (let i in lists) {
        document.querySelector('#progress').innerHTML = `Progress: ${i} / ${lists.length}`;
        let user = i;
        if (lists[i].length >= 2) user = lists[i][1];
        else {
            let spliturl = lists[i][0].split('/');
            if (spliturl.length >= 5)
                user = spliturl[4];
        }
        if (!lists[i][0].includes(website)) {
            error(user, 'not ' + website + ' list');
            continue;
        }
        if (i > 0)
            await new Promise(r => setTimeout(r, 1000));
        let text;
        let suffix = website == 'imdb' ? 'export' : lists[i][0].includes('?') ? '&export' : '?export';
        await fetch(lists[i][0] + suffix).then((r) => r.text()).then((r) => {text = r;});
        if (text.includes('>404')) {
            error(user, '404');
            continue;
        }
        zip.file(user + '.csv', text);
    }
    document.querySelector('#progress').innerHTML = `Progress: ${lists.length} / ${lists.length}`;
    zip.generateAsync({type:"blob"}).then(function (content){saveAs(content, website + '_lists.zip');});
}

let website, selector;
if (location.href.includes('imdb')) {
    website = 'imdb';
    selector = '#sidebar';
}
else {
    website = 'icheckmovies';
    selector = '.explanation';
}
document.querySelector(selector).insertAdjacentHTML('beforeend', `<br><textarea id="lists" style="height:50px; width:250px;" placeholder="listurl1,username1\nlisturl2,username2"></textarea>
<input id="download" type="button" value="Download lists">
<div id="progress"></div>
<div id="errors"></div>`);
document.querySelector('#download').addEventListener('click', download);

I just tried it on iCM. Works neat. Is it possible to have the list-title as filename? Now the filenames are just called 0, 1, 2 etc...

If you use the format that I posted above, it'll use the username as the filename. The format is
listurl,username

Or you can use
listurl,listtitle
if you want that to be the filename. If you use listurl by itself, it'll use the number as the filename.

I could add an option to automatically use the title, but I'm not sure if that's a good idea, because there might be multiple lists with the same title. It would also double the runtime (because I'd have to download both the page and the csv).

Sorry, didn't read carefully. I checked it with official lists, so they don't have a username attached to it.

I made a couple of changes to the script (the updated version is in my last post).

I added placeholder text, so you can see what the format is supposed to be.
If you just enter the URLs, without usernames, it'll use part of the URL as the filename (but if you're using it for a poll, you'll probably want to add the usernames).

For example:
https://www.imdb.com/list/ls064916339/ => ls064916339.csv
https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/icm+ ... htysparks/ => icm+forums+1001+favourite+movies.csv

Question about the ineligible file to exclude movies from the filmcounter program
Do I have to state the IMDb-urls as https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088727/, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088727/  or tt0088727/? Or doesn't it matter? For now I have added the urls with both http and https to the file for the tv-series poll.

I'm using filmcounter8.3

It should be the full url, and you can use either https or http (both should work).

I used that format for the ineligible.txt

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1854513/
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1655442/

for the silent poll

Can you share this script Tim? I've been trying to do something similar (Scan a hard drive and have every video file mediainfo'd to a csv file)

Max : if you don't need subs info, then just stick all the files on a dir, right click media info, let it work... Then esport to Csv.

Still working on the command line tool to extract subbs info for the subs collecting project.

For the last few days, I've been working on a movie recommendation database. Hopefully it won't become too popular, because I'm not sure if my free accounts on Heroku and MongoDB Atlas will be able to handle it.

Before I make it public, I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to test it, and let me know if you find bugs or have suggestions.

- You can search for movies by IMDb URL. Then you can recommend a similar movie by entering another IMDb URL. Optionally, you can enter a reason. The recommendation will be automatically added in both directions.
- You can recommend any movie that has an IMDb page. If it's not in the database yet, then you'll see the ID instead of the title, until the title is added to the database.
- Recommendations are sorted by number of users who recommended it. Different recommendations for the same movie are listed in random order.
- If you agree with a recommendation, you can vote for it by clicking "I agree".
- You can edit or delete your own recommendations.
- There are also a few lists on the homepage, to make browsing easier.

Here's an example:

I think you need a slash at the end of each URL.

It's simpler when you're able to look at the code. Ideally both formats should work. Maybe I'll do that if I ever update the program.

Maybe I'm just too stupid, so please ELI5 ...
I've got this page: IMDb search results for "titles I've voted for"

Is there a way to get the IMDb URLs for these 250 titles? I've installed the IMDb List Helper ((c)themagician) but I'm nowhere near having a list (on which the script seems to be based on), because I'd like to have my ratings as a list .. then I could export them with the List Helper to import them as an ICM list to be able to actually smoothly drag & drop and sort them like a decent human being.

JESUS CHRIST, why has this site to be so laughably shitty. :facepalm:

For a reason I don't understand, I don't get Linkclump to work here. It's installed and set right, but nothing happens. No idea. And it's still a hell to copy+paste 1000+ URLs, my finger muscles would never forgive me. Sigh.

I've got this page: IMDb search results for "titles I've voted for"

Is there a way to get the IMDb URLs for these 250 titles?
Click your username in the upper right, then click "your ratings". Then click the 3 dots and click "export". After exporting, you can sort by your rating.

Thanks mjf, you're great as always.
I'm the living forest for trees idiom when it comes to those list exercises. Excel also isn't .. exactly intuitive and beginner-friendly (because you need that Power Query Editor for everything), but now I have it. Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by this.

Sure, I can understand Excel is not beginner friendly. If you start Excel from scratch without any knowledge, you'll feel lost in all the option and don't know where to start. Then it's just the same thing as a table in Word. But once you know what should be possible, it really is a matter of just finding the right tutorial on Youtube. Everything in Excel has some Youtube-clip about it, at least everything you can come up with in the next couple of years.

I also grabbed all the TMDB Database... but it's cut in 800+ Json files now ...

Stupid me...
Took me 6 month of hard work moving my collection of films with French titles to an better organized by imdbID one ..
It seems that fils contains all the localised titles of of the imdb films .... Could have saved me months or research

title.akas.tsv.gz - Contains the following information for titles:

titleId (string) - a tconst, an alphanumeric unique identifier of the title
ordering (integer) – a number to uniquely identify rows for a given titleId
title (string) – the localized title
region (string) - the region for this version of the title
language (string) - the language of the title
types (array) - Enumerated set of attributes for this alternative title. One or more of the following: "alternative", "dvd", "festival", "tv", "video", "working", "original", "imdbDisplay". New values may be added in the future without warning
attributes (array) - Additional terms to describe this alternative title, not enumerated
isOriginalTitle (boolean) – 0: not original title; 1: original title

I never knew about this! I don't know MS SQL, but I'd be willing to learn it to figure out how to access and utilize this data. Would make my own spreadsheets easier to update.

I also have no idea what PQE is, and I use Excel extensively. Haven't used YT tutorials, but there are a lot of help sites (both official and unofficial) that I've used to troubleshoot errors or come up with ways to do things I want to do but have no idea how to do them. Very helpful.

I've never used PQE, and I've used Excel a lot, but I use an old version of Excel. I guess it was introduced in one of the newer versions.

Spoiler

// ==UserScript==
// @name download imdb and icm lists
// @match        https://*.imdb.com/list/create*
// @match        https://*.icheckmovies.com/import/toplist/*
// @require      https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/jszip/3.5.0/jszip.min.js
// @require      https://cdnjs.cloudflare.com/ajax/libs/FileSaver.js/2.0.0/FileSaver.min.js
// ==/UserScript==

function error(user, reason) {
    document.querySelector('#errors').insertAdjacentHTML('beforeend', `${user} not downloaded (${reason})<br>`);
}

async function download() {
    document.querySelector('#errors').innerHTML = '';
    let lists = document.querySelector('#lists').value.split('\n').filter((r) => r).map((r) => r.split(','));
    let zip = new JSZip();
    for (let i in lists) {
        document.querySelector('#progress').innerHTML = `Progress: ${i} / ${lists.length}`;
        let user = i;
        if (lists[i].length >= 2) user = lists[i][1];
        else {
            let spliturl = lists[i][0].split('/');
            if (spliturl.length >= 5)
                user = spliturl[4];
        }
        if (!lists[i][0].includes(website)) {
            error(user, 'not ' + website + ' list');
            continue;
        }
        if (i > 0)
            await new Promise(r => setTimeout(r, 1000));
        let text;
        let suffix = website == 'imdb' ? 'export' : lists[i][0].includes('?') ? '&export' : '?export';
        await fetch(lists[i][0] + suffix).then((r) => r.text()).then((r) => {text = r;});
        if (text.includes('>404')) {
            error(user, '404');
            continue;
        }
        zip.file(user + '.csv', text);
    }
    document.querySelector('#progress').innerHTML = `Progress: ${lists.length} / ${lists.length}`;
    zip.generateAsync({type:"blob"}).then(function (content){saveAs(content, website + '_lists.zip');});
}

let website, selector;
if (location.href.includes('imdb')) {
    website = 'imdb';
    selector = '#sidebar';
}
else {
    website = 'icheckmovies';
    selector = '.explanation';
}
document.querySelector(selector).insertAdjacentHTML('beforeend', `<br><textarea id="lists" style="height:50px; width:250px;" placeholder="listurl1,username1\nlisturl2,username2"></textarea>
<input id="download" type="button" value="Download lists">
<div id="progress"></div>
<div id="errors"></div>`);
document.querySelector('#download').addEventListener('click', download);
Can someone put this and other useful stuff in post 1??

On an unrelated note, that other MJF script about unofficial progress also gives me just 25 lists bc of my 1000+ limitation.

I've got this page: IMDb search results for "titles I've voted for"
btw I use Link Grabber (input /tt for just IMDb links), then just use common tools to remove extraneous link parts
I also have Linkclump with IMDb filter on Shift+click.

This should be in post 1 somewhere as well, as well as info on how to remove complicated extraneous link parts using Notepad++.

Maybe there should be a pinned thread called Must-have tools for best ICM-IMDb experience. Actually this thread is also pinned so it should all be in first post.

I can provide info at least for my scripts and the scripts that I use. That's something that I've wanted to do anyway.

I suggest each script-contributing member make a post with their stuff that they can then edit and maintain if links change or they make new scripts. I think that would work better than compiling it all in a single post? And then mods could put links to these posts into the first post.

Sounds like a good idea. Or perhaps it's time for a separate sub-forum just for scripts and apps? That way each creator could have their own thread. This thread could be archived and a new one made and pinned that links to all the others (like we do for forum lists).

There's a link to that one in post 1 of the future polls thread.

If it only gives you 25 lists because of pagination, there's not much I can do about it. If the script had to read through so many pages, it would be too slow.

Phew. Put together all my IMDb/ICM-related junk that I've amassed over the years. In case any of my userscripts/forks breaks and I don't see it in this thread you can ping me by posting an issue on my GitHub bug tracker, I always get notifications from there.

My userscripts:
ICM - Movie info labels
Install and read full description on OpenUserJS | Report an issue on GitHub

Adds clickable labels on lists with movie data (checks, runtime) and allows re-ordering lists without page reload. Clicking on a label (or an ↑↓ button that appears if you mouse over the year or the list count) sort the list by that label, clicking again sorts it in the reverse order.

Image
IMDb - Clutter-less
Install and read full description on OpenUserJS | Report an issue on GitHub

Remove junk from IMDb pages, such as a footer, recommendations, or images and ads in the sidebar.

Image
IMDb - Highlight movies with 400 checks on lists
Install and read full description on OpenUserJS | Report an issue on GitHub

Adds a button to IMDb lists that adds ICM check count for each movie to the last column and highlights movies that are no longer eligible for the ICM Board 500<400 poll.

Image
Userscripts that I've contributed to:
IMDb 'My Movies' enhancer (by Ricardo)
Install on OpenUserJS
Install my fork on GitHub | Report an issue on GitHub

An extremely useful tool for IMDb that loads your ratings history, your watchlist and all of your lists and highlights links to the movies on those lists all across the site. When you hover over a highlighted link it also shows a popup with your rating and the titles of your lists. You can configure the colors in the script's code.

At the time of writing Ricardo still maintains the script and releases fixes. But as an exercise (and to be able to fix it myself in case something breaks) I rewrote the script for my use and added an ability to control which color is used for a movie on multiple lists. My fork should also in theory handle larger numbers of stored lists and be more resilient when it reloads lists.

Image
iCheckMovies Enhanced (by themagician)
Discuss and read full description on this forum
Install on GreasyFork | Report an issue on GitHub

Absolutely invaluable tool for every ICM user with a dozen of enhancements to different parts of the website.

Image
IMDb - Details page links (by themagician)
Install on GreasyFork
Install my fork on GitHub | Report an issue on GitHub

Adds a block on IMDb movie pages with links to other websites.

My fork has deviated significantly from themagician's original script and doesn't have any other way to change the links except by editing them in the code. Don't expect much from it.

Image
IMDb - List Helper (by themagician)
Install and read full description on GreasyFork

Inserts a text field below an IMDb list in the editing mode. IMDb IDs inserted there will be automatically added to the list. If you input text titles you'll have to select the correct title manually.

Image
IMDb - Colorful vote history (by kuehlschrank)
Install my fork on GitHub | Report an issue on GitHub

Colorizes lists based on your ratings and adds stats to the sidebar (compact view only).

I couldn't find the original script hosted anywhere, but my fork still works.

Image
Other stuff from me:
Userstyle: IMDb - Compact list editing
Install on GitHub | Report an issue on GitHub
A userstyle that makes each IMDb list item take half as much vertical space when editing lists.

If you haven't used userstyles before, they are basically userscripts for minor visual changes on webpages; CSS instead of JS. Install the Stylus extension for Firefox/Chrome/Opera (Stylish will also work, but it's run by an ad company) and click on the link above.

Image
Python: imdb-backup-lists
Download and read full description on GitHub | Report an issue on GitHub

A simple Python program to backup all your lists from IMDb including your watchlist and ratings. Creates a .zip archive with .csv files exported from the site.

You can either run the one-file script from the source code (make sure to install pre-reqs beforehand, see README.rd), or download and run a portable .exe file for Windows that should work without having Python installed.
Bookmarklets for filtering ICM lists
A number of handy bookmarklets for filtering ICM lists right in place for small list-related tasks. All of them only work on currently visible list items.

To use a bookmarklet, bookmark any page, right-click on the bookmark, select Edit/Properties, paste one of the code blocks below into the Location/URL field. Now you can click on the bookmark while you have an ICM list open to execute it. To revert, click on the header of your current list view.

It's also possible to use these without bookmarking by pasting the code into the browser console: press F12, open the Console tab, paste the code into the empty line at the bottom, press Enter.

Show only shorts: the same as filtering by a tag on ICM but without reloading the page
Code

Code: Select all

javascript:[...document.querySelectorAll('.tagList')].filter(el=>!/\bshort\b/i.test(el.textContent)).forEach(el=>el.closest('.listItem').style.display='none');
Hide shorts: this one and the previous can be used for any tag, just replace "short" in the link
Code

Code: Select all

javascript:[...document.querySelectorAll('.tagList')].filter(el=>/\bshort\b/i.test(el.textContent)).forEach(el=>el.closest('.listItem').style.display='none');
Filter by year: show only movies made in the specified period
Code

Code: Select all

javascript:(()=>{const a=prompt('Only show movies from');const b=prompt('to');document.querySelectorAll('span.info>a:first-child').forEach(el=>{const year=Number(el.textContent);if(year<a||year>b){el.closest('.listItem').style.display='none';}});})();
Filter by official lists: show only movies on the specified number of official lists
Code

Code: Select all

javascript:(()=>{const a=prompt('At least # official lists:');const b=prompt('No more than # official lists:','50');document.querySelectorAll('span.info > a:nth-of-type(2)').forEach(el=>{const lists=Number(el.textContent.match(/\d+/));if(lists<a||lists>b){el.closest('.listItem').style.display='none';}});})();
Filter /checked/ by checks: show only movies with the specified number of checks; works only on /movies/checked/
Code

Code: Select all

javascript:(()=>{const a=prompt('At least # checks:','0');const b=prompt('Less than # checks:','400');document.querySelectorAll('span.info>a:nth-of-type(3)').forEach(el=>{const checks=Number(el.title.replace(/\D/g,''));if(checks<a||checks>=b){el.closest('.listItem').style.display='none';}});})();
Last three scripts without dialog boxes (you'll have to manually change the bold part)
Filter by year:
Code

Code: Select all

javascript:document.querySelectorAll('span.info>a:first-child').forEach(el=>{const year=Number(el.textContent);if(year<1970||year>2000){el.closest('.listItem').style.display='none';}});
Filter by official lists:
Code

Code: Select all

javascript:document.querySelectorAll('span.info > a:nth-of-type(2)').forEach(el=>{const lists=Number(el.textContent.match(/\d+/));if(lists<5||lists>10){el.closest('.listItem').style.display='none';}});
Filter /checked/ by checks:
Code

Code: Select all

javascript:document.querySelectorAll('span.info>a:nth-of-type(3)').forEach(el=>{const checks=Number(el.title.replace(/\D/g,''));if(checks<0||checks>=400){el.closest('.listItem').style.display='none';}});
Filter by checks (slow): works everywhere, but sends a lot of requests to ICM and can take quite some time on large lists.
Code

Code: Select all

javascript:(async()=>{const getChecks=async url=>{const r=await fetch(`${url}dialog/`);const json=await r.json();return Number(json.html.match(/movieChecks">[\d,]+</)[0].replace(/\D/g,''));};const a=prompt('At least checks:','0');const b=prompt('Less than # checks:','400');const els=[...document.querySelectorAll('.listItem > h2 > a')];const data=await Promise.all(els.map(async el=>({el,checks:await getChecks(el.href)})));data.forEach(({el,checks})=>{if(checks<a||checks>=b){el.closest('.listItem').style.display='none';}});})();
Dump all visible IMDd/list links into the page footer: example
Code

Code: Select all

javascript:(()=>{document.querySelector("#colophon").innerHTML=[...document.querySelectorAll(':is(#itemListToplists, #itemListMovies) .listItem')].filter(el=>el.style.display!=='none').map(el=>el.querySelector('.title, .optionIMDB').href.replace('https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/','')).join('<br>');})();
Tip: reorder .csv lists with a keyboard shortcut
Moving items around on IMDb/ICM lists is not a simple task, but can be made much more feasible with this workaround using Excel+Word:
  • export an IMDb/ICM list as .csv (you can use ICM Enhanced if you want to export an ICM list and you don't have a premium account)
  • open it in Excel
  • select all (Ctrl+A) & copy the list into Word
  • double-click on any invisible line between the columns to expand the cell content (you might also want to reduce the font size)
  • use keyboard shortcuts Shift+Alt+↑ and Shift+Alt+↓ to move a row up and down, and up/down arrow keys to select rows
  • copy the column with IMDb urls
  • update your ICM list, or empty your list on IMDb and use themagician's IMDb List Helper to update it

I think by now I've forked and rewritten everything that I use. Prepper mentality, lol.

Wouldn't it be better if mods just edit links to these compilation posts (I hope to see more of them from other devs here) into the first post?
