1001 Movies You Must See
«List has 1007 titles as it includes separate entries for all three Toy Story films, all three Lord of the Rings films, the two parts of Ivan the Terrible, and the two parts of Olympia, each of which is only one entry in the book list.«

The 2013 list seems to be where it expanded, so they may have changed the way some films are listed to squeeze a few more in. Seems like LoTR, Toy Story account for four of the extra films, plus Olympia and Ivan the Terriblejoachimt on Apr 29 2018, 10:42:53 AM wrote:If so, then there's still one title left. OK. I just went through the list and compared it to the Wikipedia page listed as the source. Here are the discrepancies I found between the two:joachimt on Apr 29 2018, 10:42:53 AM wrote:If so, then there's still one title left. ICM List= 1007 titles
Wiki page = 1002 titles
Olympia = 2 parts on ICM, 1 listing on Wiki
Ivan the Terrible = 2 parts on ICM, 1 listing on Wiki
Films on ICM list that are NOT on the Wiki entry:
- La Jetee
- My Brilliant Career
- Project A 2
- The Asthenic Syndrome
Films in the Wiki entry that are NOT on the ICM list:
- Astenicheskiy sindrom

Also, the ICM-list is correct.

Nice! Glad I didn't watch Jungle Book. The early 2000's removals are good too, I hope that trend continues but at the same time I think they should but some movies from those years that have become important. For instance I would put The Death of Mr. Lazarescu from 2005 since it's the start of the Romanian New Wave (which has no representation on the list) and it's very good too.
You simply need about ten films from each year, so it's quite stupid they don't remove stuff from for instance 1933 or 1969, or probably the 90s, which I bet are extremely overrepresented (haven't checked).
Is this the official Facebook-account of the franchise? So I can use it for the update?Nathan Treadway wrote: ↑August 11th, 2018, 4:15 am https://www.facebook.com/1001MoviesApp/ ... 2335196595

LOL. So ridicilous... Most of those movies they've included will be gone next year again, like with Manchester by the Sea, Arrival, I, Daniel Blake and so on... and why include Black Panther and exclude The Jungle Book... What does Black Panther offer that The Jungle Book doesn't offer... Hype? A Black superhero? And is it so hard to just remove some movies from before 2000? You know i'm starting to hate classical cinéma just because it's so overvalued by everyone, and it's like a taboo to criticize it... We can better stop making movies, because all the greatest movies are already been made, and nothing can ever tip it again.
You should take such lists with a "big" grain of salt... I value our own list much more.

Can't say I'll miss any of the drop-offs (of the ones I've seen), I do love Consequences of Love but it's hardly a must see by any means.

From what I remember 1001moviesapp is some guy who made an app, paid 1001 movies for the rights to the name and sells a checklist app, so it's probably accurate but not official. Just wait for the book to be released or at least a preview on amazon to show up.joachimt wrote: ↑August 14th, 2018, 2:49 pmIs this the official Facebook-account of the franchise? He confirmed this. Now, whether or not you want to wait for the book to see for yourself is up to you guys. I feel confident enough to update my personal spreadsheet with his information.PeacefulAnarchy wrote: ↑August 19th, 2018, 8:12 amFrom what I remember 1001moviesapp is some guy who made an app, paid 1001 movies for the rights to the name and sells a checklist app, so it's probably accurate but not official. Considering this list is supposed to reflect the current version, I think the icm list shouldn't be updated until the date of publishing. Let those films falling off the list enjoy their last days in the sun.Nathan Treadway wrote: ↑August 20th, 2018, 6:33 pmHe confirmed this. Finally saw I, Daniel Blake just in time to watch it disappear into the mists of the deleted pages. Planning to enjoy my platinum for another month or so.joachimt wrote: ↑August 21st, 2018, 1:10 pmI agree,Fergenaprido wrote: ↑August 21st, 2018, 12:49 pmConsidering this list is supposed to reflect the current version, I think the icm list shouldn't be updated until the date of publishing. I've seen 10 of the incoming Must Sees but only four of the outgoing Must Sees, so I come out ahead.
I'm always just a few titles away from platinum, because I'm always behind on recent movies. This time I have four titles remaining from the current list and I've got them all on Bluray, so I think I'll try to get platinum before the update.
I don't mind about losing it after that. I intend to finish the all editions version of this list some time in the future and I still have a bunch of older titles unavailable to me.

906 to 909, puts me at gold without my having to work at it, cool. Looking at what I have yet to see, I don't think I'll be making any attempt to complete it but there are surprisingly few films that look like total crap, and many that I'll likely see for other reasons, so I'll be curious to see where I am a year from now.
854 ---> 855
Nice 1 check increase. I'm not actively working on this list, however, I have a soft spot for it and I would like to complete it one day. If I'm going to choose between 2 films and 1 of them is on this list then I let that be my choice.

I pick up one check. I've seen all the new ones, and haven't seen Consequence of Love yet. It's an active goal for me to complete the list. By that, I mean all of them in the English versions of the books.

783 --> 789. Only five of the unseen movies are on my watchlist, and after about 30 more films, I'll be pretty much done with the ranked films that have anything beyond academic appeal. I don't expect to ever hit "Gold."

Never mind - found a list upthread
Just received the french Edition is someone needs refference !
I'd be happy to know if there are titles in that edition, that are not yet on this list.
But I guess it's a lot to ask to go through the book one by one.

Just took a quick look at the end of the book...
Thaught i had found three french exclusive because theses were not on the 'new' tag filter... of the official list
@ https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/1001 ... eckmovies/
But false alarm : theses were the last three of the 'old' ones....
Got to see if i can scan the end of the book list and exceling it ...

It makes sense from an American cultural standpoint. It was definitely a "must-see" movie event last summer in the States (and even here in Southeast Asia).
I think Sorry to Bother You, Hereditary, and The Greatest Showman are the surprising entries for me.
Now, if those are the only 8 new entries, which 8 films are most likely to drop off the list?

IIRC, usually a few new entires fall off right away the next year.
Last year's new entries:
Ah-ga-ssi [The Handmaiden]
Dawson City: Frozen in Time
Lady Macbeth
Lady Bird
The Shape of Water
Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri
Call Me By Your Name
Mother!
Blade Runner 2049
Get Out
Black Panther
Dawson City, Lady Macbeth, and Mother seem like three of the more vulnerable films on the list.
From the rest of the films, maybe Under the Shadow could drop off. Beyond that, I'm not familiar enough with the inner workings of the list to make any other prognostications.
