So, what is the consensus on the new lists, and will they be added this month?

Marijn's been sick the past few days, so I think it will go out sometime this weekend or early next week when he has some time.

He did not elaborate, but I imagine if it was something serious he would let the mods or one of his fellow Dutchies know.

No, that was for something different. Marijn's been working on a lot of little fixes the last two weeks

He told us that he will process the official lists and send out the blog post over the weekend. There will a small blogpost before that one, though.

Best to wait until a few days after then, to make sure the data sticks. Plus, Oscars are this weekend so those 3 lists will be updated. And we'll try and sort out the Sundance list ASAP and I'll be updating the Asian Field Guide list over the weekend too when I get a chance.

Yeah, the blogpost didn't go out, and I ended up going for a 5-hour hike yesterday instead of working on icm stuff. But at least I finally finished watching Saving Private Ryan (over three days), which was holding me up on a bunch of things. I'm going to take a nap, have some dinner, send in my ballot for DTC, and then I'll update those two lists I said I would.

Thank you a lot for replacing that list with a much better Korean list which includes some of the movies in arguably one of the best decades for Korean cinema.

I increase my number of movies seen from 4 to 10. I keep my 4 checks. I however don't gain any new unofficial checks that will become official, but I think with this new replacement, the Korea list might become one of my best lists, since the older one already is.

Wouldn't you rather they fix the logos for Pixar and Sector Cine first? They still have black backgrounds.

I updated the Asian Field Guide list. Pretty sure I posted about it here somewhere.

I didn't update the Sundance list yet, because I wanted to gather all the info first and make one single change instead of multiple little changes (and actually, I'll ask max to update it and mark it as a minor update so that it will be bundled with his previous 1-film update to the list). I'll probably invest more time in searching for the info this weekend, browsing through news archives from the early years.

Apu wrote: May 2nd, 2021, 11:27 am The new Korean list is not listed under the Country tab.
Yap, this. I searched so long for it in the Country tab, hehe.

I feel like the tiff logo comes off as slightly more pixelated than others. Like, 15%. It could be the sensitivity of my iiyama monitor though - it doesn't like a certain color range of orangish yellow. Or it's that the letters are so big compared to other list logos so one just starts so notice; anyone confirm?
.. ah, I see it feels a bit like that with Roger Ebert too, but not with 501 and not as much with LM.

Yeah maybe I should get a hobby during lockdown.

They even got the colors wrong.

I think the BIFF list should be moved to the Institute tab, even though it's not one but it's where the Annecy list is and the BFI's European horrors/American Independent.

Lonewolf2003 wrote: April 14th, 2021, 2:25 pm I’m happy with replacement of the film 2.0 with the AMP list. I honestly didn’t know this was the other list, when I left discussion about this replacement just started. I really thought it was the Portugal list, cause I thought there everyone agreed with beavis above. Just that there wasn’t time yet to adopt it.
Well .. happy would be too much said because I hoped for a new list that really covers new ground, so actually I was disappointed to see it happen .. but it's an improvement and makes sense, yep, it does. The many new entries from this golden 21st century for Korean cinema do tempt me to work a little bit on it, being so close to a bronze already (39/101).

You remember the original Korean list by KOFA? This was an epic bummer. People loved how Korea developed as a film nation and then we got this Top 100 with only super obscure films where people hardly had more than a single check in advance and only the toughest of cinephiles went beyond 10 or 20. To fix that problem, the 2.0 list was adopted, and it indeed was a step forward. Then the KOFA list got updated beyond films of 1996; an unexpected overlap set in. Now, with the even newer AMP list, the modern edge is clearer. It's cool.

dirty_score wrote: April 14th, 2021, 10:18 am Barking Dogs Never Bite (2000) will lose official status.

Seems like a good replacement, although it costs me an early Bong check :P
