And definitely "off" enough. I am embarrassed to remain at 29 checks only, with many standing on my weirdo watchlists for so long. A lot of those I've seen are truly bizarre.
What is it sorted after? Not regions apparently. Themes or another sort of chapters?
It's not organized in any specific way. Basically Jared from Mondo Macabro would occasionally add films to it that interested him over a period of several years. That's why you may see two or three films by the same director consecutively.

Seen 133/334, it's a lovely corner of cinema to explore. And another one of those (genre) gaps on icm that could be filled with an official list (there was some positive response to this idea from the list mods there, but it was never talked about in a concrete way, this niche being very... niche and all ;))
I'm at 108 myself. I definitely need to watch more of these. I've really liked most of what I've seen from this list.

Haven't tried that, guess we learn something everyday! If I can't find them by name I put the imdb link and press search. If ICM doesn't retrieve a movie, I add them via beta. This is why I take forever to create lists.

Anyway, it's updated. Only missing one movie that's not on IMDb.

Yea, the title is actually misleading. It's really more a Best Erotica Films kind of list. Many of the movies on it aren't actual hardcore porn. Things like I Am Curious, The Love Witch, Tonight for Sure, Flesh Gordon, The Bare Wench Project and the Emmanuelle movies certainly have a big focus on sex but aren't extremely graphic.

Hm .. there are a few of those indeed, but Ctrl+F-ing the list, almost all of them have the IMDb Adult tag, which usually is reserved for things called porn.
"Reserved for explicit works of consenting hardcore sex or sexual activity, or strong fetish material involving adults, specifically those created for the purposes of titillation or arousal. Must be used with the plot keywords of 'hardcore' and 'sex' or 'special-sexual-interest'."

Erotica or Erotic films - that would open another, wide field.

There's a project that actually recuts One Piece to remove filler.
I'd rather though they remove/compress extraneous/unsuccessful canon arcs as well and get to the chase.

It's just ridiculous to say that a brand new thing that came out last week is one of "the best ever." Favorite, sure. That would be different. My favorite film came out last year. But I can't in good conscience say Promising Young Woman is one of the greatest films of all-time, or that it isn't. It has yet to face the test of time. At least it had more than four days ...

Exactly.

Also, you guys understand that these articles are made to be read by people, and that including one of the films that's "in the conversation" is a part of that? I do not doubt the sincerity either, I'm just saying, the list wouldn't exist if it weren't for the release of a highly anticipated movie musical in the first place.

Have to agree wit Teproc. It's understandable for blogs to feature very recent, if not completely new films for their new lists. It might be needed - and doesn't have to be in bad faith.

I have no general problem with that. To be honest, I'm more allergic against lists that refuse to include recent or very new films, the narrower their focus is (like one genre or subgenre), the more justified it is. Authors featured Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015 or 2016 as one of the most fresh, important and outright best Action films of the last 20 years, if not all time, and why shouldn't they? If they're safe about it ..
The opposite leads to lists like those from AFI, which begin to look dated the very day they're finished. Hrmpf.

It is a legit and widespread opinion, especially in our kind of Forum that has so much focus on canon, classics and whatnot. I personally just try not to feel too strict about that. (Although, ironically, I tend to give new films a lower weighting for decade lists to counter eventual "freshness bias" .. )

Buut, if I may add one more thing (which I forgot for my last post) ..
kongs_speech wrote: June 15th, 2021, 8:57 pm It's just ridiculous to say that a brand new thing that came out last week [...] At least it had more than four days ...
.. critics likely get to see a movie earlier. In the case for ITH, a ton of reviews were published on May 21st, so it's at least more than "a few days" - and also a chance to read up on the film and get a sense of the possible collective appraisal of a new film, if one feels like having rely on that for his Top 50 or whatever.

Nothing that can or should your opinion on the canon thing and how to deal with new films.

What does that have to do with anything? Are people required to adhere to a predetermined list when giving an opinion now? The canon (insofar as it exists) is nothing but a bunch of aggregated opinions in the first place.

That's a pretty weird, eclectic list. Shows more film knowledge than I expected. But I'm tempted to tell any musicals list that ranks "Hedwig & the Angry Inch" over "A Hard Day's Night" to go f*ck itself. ;)

Most of those website lists are likely made to promote something for some financial gain. Although I'm pretty safe from that when adding political lists.

I posted that corporate crime list, having added the missings to imdb. But most people on ICM are fine with it as long as they get their shiny corporate products so I'm the only one that will be working on it.
