I really don't see the point of Eureka. A Trip Down Market Street slowed down 8 times and messing around with brightness and contrast? Why?
And how does this gain a 7.7 rating on IMDb? What's so amazing about this?

Most of the voters never saw the original? :whistling:

I think the quality of the Brief Encounters list took a hit with this update. Many of the new additions I've recently seen (Gently Down the Stream, Eureka, Me at the Zoo, O Poeta do Castelo, Spare Time, Bullet Piercing a Soap Bubble...) were big yawns for me. Though I'm pleased that "They Caught the Ferry" and "Borom Sarret" are official now.

I disagree with you on Bullet Piercing a Soap Bubble, but in general, yeah, there are some big turds in the new additions. Don't forget Weather Diary 3 for example. Or we should be glad it's only one part and not all 6 of them.
Cocks and Cunts was terrible as well of course. I've disliked quite a few of those shorts yesterday......

All the more reason for my suggested official list: iCM Orphans. This would be movies that were official, but fell off an official list due to an update or replacement.

Sounds potentially interesting. Why not start with making an unofficial list? I wonder how that would look, which films it would contain.

I wonder how much work it will be figuring out which titles were ever on at least one official list. I think the only way to find out is downloading all previous lists of all iCM-lists. Hell of a job.

It'd be an interesting list to look at but makes no sense being official. It'd be a list of films that the original source no longer considers worthy of inclusion and which no other list supports.

The very fact that you are against it is the most compelling reason to make it official.

Would the list include every film ever official? If so then there will be a huge number that have been on the various IMDb lists. Some only on it for a day or two.

We'd have to put some parameters around it.

First, it would be as of today, when I created the list
Second, would not include IMDb lists because of their volatility
Third, would not include lost films, but would include near impossible to find films.

Clearly a mistake. That title is on the list at 366. This trilogy should be at #12:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1918662/
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0130709/
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1918657/

I've asked the owner of the list to change it before it will be adopted.

Thus making it yet another list where the number of films doesn't match the number in the title. I don't think we should adopt something like that :whistling:

I was tempted to call my favorites "xianjiro's 300 favorite movies" especially as it was at 302, but then I kept remembering things that needed to be added. I decided to forget the number since I didn't want anyone's head to explode and 305 just doesn't have a nice a ring to it, unless you're from Dade County or something.

Wasn't the cutoff length for shorts 45 minutes? I see some titles that are longer than that on this list.

There are a few indeed:

https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/ala ... lamp-1917/
DVD-version is 40 minutes and that's the one that's availlable.

https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/rapsodia+satanica/
Restored version is 45 minutes and that's the one that's available.

https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/la+ ... me+beudet/
Several runtimes on IMDb. 38 minutes is available. Don't know anything about 54 minutes.

https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/warsaw+ghetto/
Not entirely sure. My spreadsheet says 8 minutes, but maybe that's only the surviving footage. I think I added that info to my spreadsheet when IMDb didn't have runtime.

https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/le+wazzou+polygame/
DVD-version is 36 minutes and that's the one that's available.

https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/the+pilgrim/
Several runtimes on IMDb: 39, 40, 47

https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/le+franc/
Don't know. I guess the runtime wasn't on IMDb a while ago and it is tagged "short". The available copy is 43 minutes.

https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/my+childhood/
I guess this could be removed. No short-tag and 46 minutes on IMDb. Copy I've got is 44:33. But technically it shouldn't be on this list.

Yeah, the Warsaw Ghetto one used to be 8 minutes, and the surviving material could be found in this documentary: https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/shtikat+haarchion/

Should some of those runtimes be updated on IMDb? Or leave them as they are?

I don't think so. In most of those cases the "short" runtime is on IMDb as well.

If it's not, runtime of a digital copy is not enough evidence to change it.
