Had a little bit of trouble finding a movie on iCM today but finally found it on the original site here: https://www.icheckmovies.com/movies/8-2019/
When I went to swap to Beta to fix details on it (a habit I got into the other day for every movie I watch) and it leads me here: https://beta.icheckmovies.com/movies/8- ... ckoos+nest
I eventually worked out how to pull the name up in the Beta Search (I used its IMDb address to find it) once I click on the movie it once again goes to One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest, not 8 like it should.

This problem should be dealt with by Marijn. He chose to give every movie a unique number. If the title of a movie changes the url does, but the number stays the same. By putting that number in the url, the old url redirects to the new one. Logical idea, but Marijn didn't think about moviestitles only consisting of a number.

Found it in Beta for you: https://beta.icheckmovies.com/movies/3673993-8-2019
I added his other films from imdb, then clicked on one of them and clicked on the director name, and 8 came up in the list there (all in beta).

Thank you, and now it can be found by one of its American names "The Soul Collector" to thanks to the update button so others in the future shouldn't have as much of a problem.

Anyone else with lots of IMDB ratings unable to import? Seems the file size limit needs to be bumped up.

I've not had a problem, but I also haven't tried to import for a couple months.

I have no involvement at all with icheckmovies.com other than a regular account like everyone else but I believe the reason for so many bugs is that the current version is 2.0 and Marijn has been working on 3.0 for a long time (which you can see in the beta version of icheckmovies). I'm not sure if bugs on 2.0 are actively being worked on or not? Peaceful or someone else might know more.

It was originally iCM 1.0 and upgraded to 2.0 many years ago and Marijn has been working on 3.0 for a few years. There used to be Erik, Piet and Marijn in the icheckmovies team but now it's only Marijn so I assume it's much more work as well.

Ah thanks... I have heard about a new version release since I joined more than 3 years ago so I thought there was something new new...
I have come to terms with everlasting bugs such as clicking multiple times on the check box and reloading pages for a film to get actually checked and similar iterative process for uploading lists.
But the slow response of the site to load pages now, which has been going on for weeks, is prompting frustration again.

My understanding is some yes, some no, if something breaks it'll be fixed, but if it's a smaller and especially longstanding thing then the time is better spent on 3.0 It's more complicated by the fact that the two have connected underlying systems, so some bugs have nothing to do with which version you're looking at.

I have not had any issues lately and the site is loading fine for me now, though. :shrug:

edit: of course, post like this and immediately the system exacts revenge - but it only looks to be an intermittent outage

I just spent ages trying to update a list and it wouldn't work. At least five attempts to update it and every time I got an error message. You used to be able to add lists by submitting the IMDb list URL-hasn't worked for years. You used to be able to add IMBb URLs and it would automatically import the ones missing - hasn't worked for years. Now, I can't even add a list by submitting a list of IMDb URLs at all. Really disappointing and frustrating trying to use iCM nowadays. :( Not to mention the slow load times, that I can't go directly to icheckmovies.com and have to instead put in the URL of a list or another part of the site or that I have to check a film at least twice just to get it to actually check.

Rant over :(

I talked to Marijn on the phone today. There were problems with the old firewall which had to be replaced. He actually drove to Amsterdam at 1:00 AM to fix this problem a few days ago and worked all night till 6:00 AM. After that some things still don’t seem to work properly, but at least the site is running again and he's trying to fix them asap (in between working on his newly bought house).

What sometimes seems to users as a simple bug that needs to be solved, could be a lot of work for one person. I know it might seem sometimes things don't get solved, but it's clear to me that Marijn is still very passionate about iCM and is still spending a lot of spare time on this. It's just that a lot of backend work is unnoticed by users.

He asked me to make a top 10 of most urgent bugs. Can you guys help me to make that top 10? He's aware of most, but could use some help prioritizing. I think at least these two:
- Official checkcount is off.
- Most Checked and Most Favorited hasn’t been updated in months.

And another thing: Marijn also repeated that he would love to have help maintaining and building the site. He also tried to find people through his work, but never found someone interested enough. We know there are people here who are interested enough, but it involves skills as well:
Python3 at backend.
VueJS and Typescript at frontend.
MySQL as database.
If you think you are capable and willing to assist Marijn, please come forward. You can contact me or Marijn directly.

One of the priority should really be fixing the "checking" (checking the check box to mark a movie checked); it is what people use the site for after all...
Sometimes it works after a few seconds, sometimes the wheel is spinning forever over the check box without effect, sometimes it marks it is checked but if you reload the page it is not... You always need to reload the page to ensure it is checked or try again.

Uploading/updating lists is also one of the most cumbersome bug: only uploading a csv file with imdb links has a chance to work, all other options will always get me to "this page is unavailable, we have been notified".

Thanks for coordinating this... fingers crossed...

@Fergy:
Good one. Noted.

@hurluberlu:
Checkbox noted.
Doesn't updating a list by IMDb movie url(s) work for you? I never have problems with that.
The problem with both of these problems is that it's very hard for Marijn to reproduce them. But I agree with you that the checkbox-unreliability should be high on the priority list.
