iCM Bugs

#1

Post by Knaldskalle » May 19th, 2011, 9:46 pm

Post here if you find (or think you find) a bug on iCM. We can then take a look at it and see if others are experiencing the same thing and then notify the guys if it is indeed a bug.

I'm currently seeing a discrepancy between my "actual" checked movies and what the various widget (signatures) say I've clicked on two lists (and no, this is not because the widget hasn't updated yet, these numbers are more than 15 minutes old):

Criterion Collection: List says 296 checked (366 unchecked), widget says 289 checks (366 to go).
Rosenbaum Essentials: List says 298 checked (718 unchecked), widget says 291 checks (718 to go).

In both cases the discrepancy is 7 movies and in both cases the number of unchecked movies is correct. I just counted my checked movies on the Rosenbaum list and I have 298 checks, so it must be the widgets that are off.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Also the large signature for TSPDT 2000s displays the avatar for Doubling the Canon:
Image
I've previously notified the guys about that one, but so far it hasn't been fixed.

There's a spider on the Top 250 page.

Someone pointed out that sometimes the number of favourites doesn't match with how many people have actually favourited a film. I've noticed that for checks too. You can only tell with films with a small number of checks/favourites.

I came across a title that was supposed to have 3-4 checks and 1 fave, but noone had faved or checked it (in the "latest checks"). I think the "check/fave count" doesn't reset if you uncheck/unfave it or the profile that checked/faved it is deleted (cheaters, for instance).

I wonder. Doesn't apply to comments, anyhow.

I may have found a minute bug in the progress page when sorted by closest award. I think the only issue is with the They Shoot Pictures, Don't They? list. See an excerpt of my progress page below as it is currently ordered. I added a remaining tab which is simply 50% of the total minus the amount I have checked

LIST TOTAL CHECKED REMAINING
Sundance 34 2 15
TSPDT 1016 484 24
Times Best French 112 40 16
Martial Arts 50 8 17

I actually sent a message to the guys on a similar problem this morning. Since I became a paying member I can see the # of films required to obtain an award. It is the same thing as themagician's script does but there seem to be some bugs in the ICM-version.
I have seen 33/34 Sundance winners but it says I need 2 more for Platinum?
I have seen 998/1016 TSPDT films but need 2 more for platinum?
I thought that the ordering might be wrong if it it is based on the same incorrect # of movies on a list.

I think that might actually be where the bug comes from, the number of total films in a lists is probably calculated from an old version of the list (which are kept somewhere on the server) or maybe even *shudders* hardcoded. If I remember correctly the first version of TSPDT actually had 1000 films before people started complaining about multi-part entries :) Maybe somebody with a Premium Pro membership can confirm this?

It's also best to use the contact-form to report multiple entries, instead of posting it in the comments. I don't think the guys read all the comments... I often report double or tripple entries end they solve them within 24 hours most of the time.

When I try to search for "Galichnick wedding" on ICM, it gives no results. I know it's on ICM, because I imported it. When I search with the IMDB-number, it also doesn't turn up. The only way of finding it is going to the add movie form and try to add Galichnick wedding with the complete IMDB-url. Then it says it is already on ICM and I get a link to the right page.

Does this happen with new titles only?

Yup, I had the same problem when importing a film for The Guide to Spanish Cinema list. I took forever to turn up in searches, I ended up adding it through it's IMDb-URL. I'm guessing the search-database gets updated about as often as the IMDb-lists and Awards do.
Edit: After a week it still isn't showing up in searches so this may indeed be a bug.

I've now reported this problem Torgo mentioned to the guys, just like the problem I mentioned before.

Not a big issue, but I wondered what happens if you ignore a recommended film on ICM. Does it get replaced in a certain amount of time by another worthy piece of cinema or are you stuck with 9 (or 24) permanently?

I tried it once. I was stuck with 9 (it didn't replace it) but you can unignore it. It's not permanent.

One person on my friend list got the gold with 916 checks this week, but my progress tab tells me I only need 27 more checks for gold with 873 in total. The glitch is still there. I bet you've just have to wait and see...

So, I don't know if this is relative to this thread but I'll throw it in and if there's another thread which is relative to my question, I'd be happy to see it bumped by someone! My beef here is the many duplicates I've discovered in the last few weeks of my browsing spree on the Icheckmovies search engine and I was wondering if there's a way to send a message to any mods to fix this (?)

Sorry if this is irrelevant but I don't know where else to comment about this!

My beef here is the many duplicates I've discovered in the last few weeks of my browsing spree on the Icheckmovies search engine and I was wondering if there's a way to send a message to any mods to fix this (?)

Sorry if this is irrelevant but I don't know where else to comment about this!
Just report them all via this form:

Indeed. Did that a few times and they'll process it in two or three days (and even send a reply to thank you :) ).

Is there any reason for me being unable to import:

Cleaning Up!!? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3059774/
Kansas City Girls Are Rolling Their Own Now http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3056270/
Did You Ever Take a Ride Over Kansas City Street 'In a Fliver' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3056278/
Prep & Landing: Tiny's Big Adventure http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2721838/

They get added to the import queue but don't get imported.
