Oh mighty Simba,

Maxwelldeux and I would like to get a film that I watched for the African challenge added to IMDb so it can get added to ICM as well but the only proof for the film's existence is the listing on YT where you can view it. I've searched for filmographies of both the director and star and all the ones I find seem woefully incomplete including their pages on IMDb.

Here's the film and info I do have:

Anger of a Wonder Girl (2017, Nigeria) Ilochi Olisaemeka
Film stars Regina Daniels who apparently is a 17 year-old screen sensation in Nigeria.

screening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZrP5e23sBU

There is also a sequel: Anger of a Wonder Girl 2 - although really they play like two parts of a whole - similar to the last Harry Potter films. The sequel also has a link on YT.

I realize this is scanty info for adding a film. Any ideas? I'll be away from the internet until next Tuesday so I will not be able to offer a quick response if you have any questions. Thanks!
psychotronicbeatnik, you are funny. I don't know if I can get it added, but I will certainly try. Probably be tomorrow.

Update: I have submitted the film (partial credits as I could not add them all...kinda tiring) We'll see if this goes through and then I could always watch and add the complete credit roll. Estimated date for addition is 4 June 2018.

Update 2: Wow, only took 10 minutes to add title. As day's go by more credits (as approved like actors, producers, and such) will appear. But for now:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8505994/

Enjoy!
Wow, Simba, you truly are mighty. I expected this to drag on for days (or at least minutes) of more excruciating research so I was very impressed to see that it was already done before I even returned. Thank you!

I'm having a hard time adding the 1991 film Those Left Behind/The Left Behind by Xueyang Hu (IMDb director link, but he's also on Wikipedia. It presumably won the major prize at the 16th Cairo International Film Festival, so I need it for that list.

Could someone help me, maybe even someone who speaks or reads Mandarin (at least that's the original language, I guess)?

I have over the years put a number of new titles on IMDb, just looking it up, I have got 12 in.

Exit (1971 - Denys Irving & Naomi Zack) is a British feature film that I really liked. Getting it in has stumped me.

Denys Irving is quite famous in the music scene, the band name Lucifer was a pseudonym for him https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucifer_(1970s_rock_band)

Co director Naomi Zack has no IMDB page

Last time I looked to add the film Denys Irving didn't have an IMDb page, so I stopped, EDIT actually since then he now does have as an IMDb page due to a short film. Defo same person.

The film has a BFI page http://www.bfi.org.uk/films-tv-people/50f73494d5e15

I have no idea on what day in 1971 it was released though, which is a bit of a stumper to chances for me to add. I have a better chance and time delay than a new contributor, but not by much. I saw it at the BFI on 17 April 2015.

Anyone know better than me how to find out release dates? Would love to get this one added.

Just skip the release day and tick the provide an explanation box stating that you didn't find any more info. You'd still be adding the year of release next to the title.

I added that other short of his, btw.

I could give entering it a shot, but I'd like a little more information on the film itself since I know absolutely nothing about it. Do you have any links the film? I could search, but I'd worry about whether I'm looking at the correct film.

Yeah, that's my problem as well. However, I sent Zhangalan a personal message and he promised to look into this during the weekend. He's from Hong Kong, so he can probably come up with some decent Chinese language sources that prove the film's existence and give some additional information.

Update 1: Added with estimated processing date of 27 June 2018.

Update 2: Here ya go - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8618558/

Note that other information may appear on the site a little more slowly, but the title and basic stuff is already there.

Is someone able to decipher this information and link it to IMDb entries for actors et cetera?

I added some more avant-garde/experimental shorts to IMDb (and then ICM). What are you waiting for, go check those movies!

I've been adding films that I watched first, because then I confidently know the film's specific traits from experience.

Thought this would be the most appropriate topic to post this.

Joris Ivens once made a documentary titled Comment Yukong Déplaça les Montagnes, clocking in at almost thirteen hours, and consisting of as many separate films or parts. IMDb lists the following parts:
IMDb wrote:The movie is made up of 13 parts: -La pharmacie N°3 : Shangai; -Une femme, une famille; -Le village de pêcheurs; -Autour du pétrole; -L'usine des générateurs; -Une caserne; -Impression d'une ville: Shanghai; -Une histoire de ballon - Lycée n°31 Pékin; -Le professeur Tsien; -Un répétition à l'Opéra de Pékin; -Entraînement au cirque de Pékin; -Les artisans.
And their synopsis is as follows:
IMDb wrote:From 1972 until 1974, Joris Ivens and Marceline Loridan, along with a Chinese film crew, documented the last days of the Cultural Revolution, marking the end of an era. The vast amount of footage they shot was edited into twelve films of varying lengths. Focusing on ordinary people spread over a wide geographic area-many of whom were living and working in collectives-the filmmakers recorded a unique moment in history, and also captured some of the more enduring aspects of Chinese culture.
In 1985, Ivens forbade the film from ever being shown again because he did not identify with his portrayal of the Cultural Revolution anymore. His widow finally agreed with the release of two parts of the documentary to feature on a DVD box set in 2008, namely: La Pharmacie n°3 : Shangai and Une Histoire de Ballon - Lycée n°31 Pékin. The former has a separate IMDb entry under the name The Drugstore and is featured on Harvard's Suggested Viewing list.

So... in my opinion, it seems wrong that The Drugstore has a separate entry on IMDb. Are there any other cases where parts of documentaries or other films are split up in separate entries? If so, the other twelve parts should also receive separate entries on IMDb. Would anyone be willing to add them? The most important, of course, is the fact that I've been going through this box set over the last couple of years, but I've been postponing its completion because I’ve had no idea how to check off Une Histoire de Ballon yo until now. :whistling:

EDIT: The full thing seems to have been released on DVD in France in 2014, but that still doesn't answer my question/concerns.

EDIT 2: Interestingly, fori, funkybusiness and Arthur, among others, have checked the whole thing but have not checked The Drugstore.

EDIT 3: Oh lord, Une Histoire de Ballon actually is on IMDb...  That should also constitute a check for those who have seen the whole thing. Well then, that still means that the other eleven parts don’t have separate entries on IMDb. At least I should be able to continue with the box set.

Wait, a part of a film I saw is an official check and I never checked it? Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for the heads up, Harco.

I knew there were separate portions of Comment..., but don't know why I didn't check them. Having looked around at the other, separate editions of Ballon and Drugstore, I'm almost certain they are exactly the same as those included in Comment..., but they feature the original French dubbing with English subtitles, as opposed to the English only dubbing of the entire film. I believe Ballon and Drugstore have separate imdb links because they were screened separately, while the other segments were only ever included in the entirety of Comment.... I know this is true of Ballon, I'd have to double-check about Drugstore. That at least explains why they have separate imdb links (and also, imo, why the other segments should not have separate imdb links).

There are two other segments he filmed about ethnic minorities during the same period in China , Les ouigours (1977) and Les kazaks (1977), but weren't included in Comment... for whatever reason (Ivens didn't think it fit, Mao hates ethnic minorities, whatever it was). I've yet to watch these particular segments so I can't comment on their substance.

I noticed two Nam June Paik titles in there, do you think you could add Good Morning, Mr. Orwell as well? https://letterboxd.com/film/good-morning-mr-orwell/

I have a few more favs not on imdb, if you or anyone else feels up to the task of adding them:

Would someone with the expertise help with adding a film to IMDB?

I'm trying to add "The Porn Factor" (2016; David Corlett, Maree Crabbe), a documentary about porn exposure toward young people.

Here's what I have:
TMDB Entry: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/544020-the-porn-factor
A link to the film: https://www.kanopy.com/product/porn-factor
An article about the film: http://www.local-eyes.com.au/exploring- ... -factor-3/

I'm happy to provide other info as needed... I just haven't figured out how to navigate the IMDB system.

This seems like a good page...so do you think it's 50 minutes or 49?

Blarg. I think I muddled my way through that. That process is WAY harder than it needs to be.

@Ebby - great trailer. Thanks!

Does anybody feel like adding Cui Siwei’s Savage to IMDb? It’s one of the two latest New Current Award winners at Busan.

Can someone add A Casing Shelved (1970) by Michael Snow to IMDb? It might become an official check soon.........

Here it is on TMDb: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/201096 ... ng-shelved

I could do that.

What list is making it official?

The next TSPDT update is coming soon, it might be somehow related to that.

I'm getting to be an old pro at this now, and have added around 75 titles...except they're all experimental films with near zero actors, so they were extra easy to submit. And I'd be surprised if any of my adds have more than three ICM checks.

That probably will be so for A Casing Shelved as well, even after turning official. I can't seem to find it anywhere.

You haven't said why you're so confident Casing will turn official....

It's a surprise. Give me a few days to work on it.

Added two more experimental shorts earlier today...I always notice that IMDb takes extra time to fill in the director's name. It's always the last item. I've learned to wait to import the film to ICM, in order to get the director's name transferred.

Some more avant/experimental adds.

"Good Morning, Mr. Orwell" is a bit tricky...I actually saw that on TV at the time. But the credits are SO complex because it's a collection of pieces by various artists. I could add some really perfunctory IMDb page for it, but it deserves a more thorough treatment that I'm ginger to attempt.

"Downside Up" probably was my favorite of these.

I've added six more since my previous post, but never mind...I just have a question.

I'm having trouble figuring out how to create the standard foreign-film title format you see on IMDb...where it says a title at the top and then "original title: [non-English title]" underneath in smaller letters. As yet, I've only managed to get the alternate title added in the "Also Known As" list further down the page. Tips?

You have to tag them correctly:
Image
In this case Complete title is wrong. Complete title is for a film whose release title is a shortened version of a longer title, so the longer title would be tagged "complete title."
Alternate language titles are pretty much always either:
"imdb display title" when the film had an official release in that country/language and this is the title it was released with. This is what makes it display the way you're looking for
or
one of the "literal title" tags when the translation is unofficial. This won't make it display in the header but allows people to search with it.

Also, unless it's a release that had different titles in US/Canada/UK/Aus the country/Language should say International English title not USA.
