Still no Platinum awards. Basically, since last time I've watched still more Brazilian movies, alongside a couple of classic Polish movies. Slipped a little on silent movies, though.
1 - Contracampo's Top Brazilian Cinema - #132
2 - Anthology Film Archives' Essential Cinema - #268
3 - Lodz Film Museum's Best Polish Films - #373
4 - Polish Film Institute's 100 Years of Polish Cinema - #381
5 - Cien Anos Sin Soledad - #435
6 - The Top 300 Silent Era Films - #465
7 - Silent but not Forgotten - #468
8 - Ariel Award - #502

No plats, actively avoiding getting them for the IMDb list (which are easy) so they don't show up here.

Most are lists that not many try to do. That's why the African one is in my top list, even though I've only seen 1 movie. hahahaha
2010s is the only one that I've seen most.

Ha. Yeah, I recently saw my first FESPACO - Étalon de Yennenga film too and the list now ranks 14th highest for me.sacmersault on Dec 3 2017, 11:52:42 AM wrote:Most are lists that not many try to do. That's why the African one is in my top list, even though I've only seen 1 movie. hahahaha

Anyway, I thought I would give an update now since this is the first time ever that a list other than the Australian one has been highest placed for me. And it's not going to stay this way either since I'm planning to get a Silver on the Australian list (hopefully) with the Official AU/NZ Challenge next month.
Other changes? A couple more watches managed to edge the latest version of the 500<400 into my top 10.

I regularly make a screenshot of my top-ranking lists to keep track of my progression
and now I've made an overview of all the March-screenshots from the time I started doing this

clear that I shamefully have neglected the Junpo list the past year or two!
overall I'm still making big jumps in rankings, not so much in the (by some) coveted platinums

I believe it was to standardize the way lost films are displayed in official lists. Some of them excluded lost films (and simply mentioned them in the description) while others included them. The BFI list must have been one of the former.

Biggest change: seeing a mere two more FESPACO titles in the African Challenge has placed me inside the top 150 users for the list.

I seem to be significantly below the average for my rank group
Still, super pumped to see Amos Vogel and the Anthology in my top 10

Incidentally, does anybody else have trouble with the Progress by Rank display while in iCM Enhanced?

No? (I do have ICM Enhanced installed)
I looked at my Progress page sorted by Rank, and it all looked normal - what are you seeing that you're looking to verify?
I think i've figured it out. I thought it was displaying lists randomly -- apparently I'd inadvertedly checked the "Sort lists by completion rate" box in the Progress Page settings. No memory of doing that, but it seems to be sorted out nowmaxwelldeux wrote: ↑September 27th, 2018, 6:38 amNo? (I do have ICM Enhanced installed)

I like list-rankings, but unfortunately you can't choose to go dark only for the overall rankings and still be visible in the list-rankings. It hurts not to see my name on top of the Unesco-list.

Fed up with the meaninglessness of the rankings.

I'm always puzzled why I rank so well (#66) on the Stanley Kubrick list. Its 94 movies don't seem hugely arcane to me, and I think "Very Nice, Very Nice," "Pacific 231" and maybe "The Anderson Platoon" are the only films that I watched directly because of the list. And they were short-ish and not hard to find.
Otherwise, I think this is one of those indulgent threads where people have a lot of fun calculating their answers and really don't give a darn about what others say.
Me, I always rank extra high on lists heavy on short films and weird/experimental/avant-garde stuff. I lose some ground when a list is described more as "cult" than "weird" because I skip so many horror films.

Why not simply ignore the overall rankings, and focus instead on the list rankings?joachimt wrote: ↑September 27th, 2018, 7:24 pmFed up with the meaninglessness of the rankings.
It's a protest going dark. But I don't want to go into detail. I have my reasons.Fergenaprido wrote: ↑September 28th, 2018, 3:22 amWhy not simply ignore the overall rankings, and focus instead on the list rankings?
Terrible protest, right? By not telling anything more.
