Yeah. Siege of Manchester for Kubrick. And a U2 3D concert movie for Docs. It's not an especially interesting question in general. ;) And answering the question minus platinums doesn't make any sense to me.weirdboy on May 30 2017, 06:11:53 PM wrote:Not very interesting, I'm afraid.
Me:

Brief Encounters: #14
Anthology Film Archives' Essential Cinema: #25
Amos Vogel's Film as a Subversive Art: #26
366 Weird Movies (Certified Weird): #29
100 Documentary Films (BFI Screen Guide): #59
Harvard University's Suggested Film Viewing List: Non-Fiction Films (2012): #69
UNESCO's Memory of the World: National Cinematic Heritage: #72
I periodically like to note the lists where my list rank is higher than my overall rank. Currently, there are 19 such lists. I can't really guess what the average tally would be.

I usually sort all lists by rank and then look at the top of the right column. Half of my ranks fall under the 287th currently. Well, answering the question including Platinums makes no sense to me since there are several users out there who have 10 or more Platinum awards. This would be a pretty boring topic if everyone just pasted a list of tied #1 rankings.Ebbywebby on May 30 2017, 07:09:16 PM wrote:It's not an especially interesting question in general. ;) And answering the question minus platinums doesn't make any sense to me.

And nobody's forcing you to read this thread if you don't find it an interesting question.

Well, these lists show two things. What we working on and which lists are easy to rank high on (in other words what lists almost nobody works on)
High percentage - High rank: Works on it or gained because of other lists worked on - Average difficulty to complete
High percentage - Low rank: Works on it or gained because of other lists worked on - Everyone works on these
Low percentage - High Rank: Probably doesn't work on it - Nobody else is either
Can only speak for me but I do work on 8 of those 10 listed plus 3 more.
All animation: Top 100 Animated Features of All Time, 100 Animated Feature Films (BFI Screen Guides), Animation + Paste (#447)
All scandinavian: Guldbagge Award, FLM's Best Swedish Films of All Time, Bodil Award Winners for Best Danish Film
All Box Office: All Time Box Office + All-Time Worldwide Box office (#664)
and finally: BFI Flare's Best LGBT Films of All Time (#1065)

I'm working on the Fantasy list, which is why it's popped up. Worked on Sport as well, and I watch a few from Timmy D's list every now and then, too. Otherwise, same lists... and they've all gained checks, even though I haven't directly worked (ever) on any of those bottom 6.

#1 on the Romanian list, which I tried to complete last month. Unfortunately one movie was unavailable online. The rest is pretty predictable, with lists I always focused on (TSPDT, S&S, 21st Century, and lately 500<400).

Are you Romanian, Tarr? I once tried working through the Romanian list, but there were many titles I couldn't find subtitles for.
Yes, I'm Romanian. Unfortunately, there are some Romanian movies that are definitely worth seeing, but don't have subtitles, especially the ones from the communist period.Gershwin on Jul 6 2017, 03:56:32 AM wrote:Are you Romanian, Tarr? im not interested to see which lists its easy to get high rank on since it's easy to figure out but for me the interesting part is to see fellow icm members interests and such. but if it's for what's easy to rank high on then the more reason to post those platinums too! obviously not all will share the same plats and for some others are easier/more interesting/more fun to platalbajos on Jul 4 2017, 03:08:06 PM wrote:Well, these lists show two things.
All Box Office: All Time Box Office + All-Time Worldwide Box office (#664)
and finally: BFI Flare's Best LGBT Films of All Time (#1065)
and again there is this topic for "what are you working on" viewtopic.php?t=767&1/
just saying, not that i mind offtopic

There is no topic. OP asked people to post their top 10 non-platinums.
As I said, I can only answer for my own list.
But it is at least more interesting if people actually tell us why their list look like that, rather just to post a top 10. So you mean that any notes we have about our top 10 is off-topic?

forgot about first post and just read the title and though posting only non-plats for whatever reason was going offrails. but like said i said i don't mind offtopic, it's just that i find those platinums very interesting and it seems so weird to me not post them since they tell very muchalbajos on Jul 6 2017, 11:10:39 AM wrote:There is no topic. Some developments since I began this topic:
- Canada has risen into my top 10 as a result of participating in the Canadian Challenge this month. I'vechecked* looked into what is available to me of the remaining films, and I don't think that I will be able to score a Bronze for the list any time soon, however, another 8 films would place me in the top 100 with the rankings, and that's certainly achievable.
- I have been working on/off through the 500 Essential Cult Movies, which has led me ranking higher in it than the More Noirs list. For the moment.

* Had to use a different work here since that would make it sound like I am checking unseen films!

I've never consciously worked on a list, but get:

On more than half of the official lists, my ranking is higher than my overall ranking. I feel like that doesn't make sense but I'm no mathematician.

There are only 22 lists for which my own ranking is higher than my overall ranking, but I think your dilemma makes sense since size of lists and ease of completion are factors.flaiky on Sep 25 2017, 07:50:48 AM wrote:On more than half of the official lists, my ranking is higher than my overall ranking. e.g. I am ranked #599 on the AFI Thrills list with only 4 films unseen, but ranked #187 on More Noirs from TSPDT with 557 films unseen.

I'm not sure exactly what has changed in the last couple of months other than me watching a lot of silent films for this month's challenge, but somehow I went from 6 platinums to 14 platinums since May.

Rather big changes since last time I posted. It's all about monthly challenges and watching shorts though.... And loosing a plat (IMDb Drama)
Is there a 10 lowest ranks thread btw?

Went from 17 to 19 plats since last May, so there must be 2 new lists. Otherwise it's basically the same other lists.

Plats for 17 lists

My father didn’t have the skill of a professional cameraman. The result? Avant-garde cinema.
