mjf is right, people may not like it, but a list should be the same as the source.

I don't think you should start making changes like that. I mean equally should things like The Clock be on there? You could say that's not a film in the same way The Wire isn't a film. Gets very messy if you go down this route.

It's not like a lost film where these TV series are impossible to watch and there's a case to exclude from a checkable list that people are trying to complete. This would be taking a list with its own criteria and adding our own extra ones on top.

Regarding the 21st Century list, aside from the new films from 2018, the list has not improved, for me the last couple of years.

In fact, if I just look at the titles lost from other years versus the titles gained, the list has deteriorated and taken on more mainstream flavors. Kind of reminds me when restaurants I like begin to cut down on the quality of their ingredients, or add things, like more salt, or sugar....

I'm not bothered by it. In the next 80 years the last 800 movies will drop off anyway. (Also both sites would be dead by then)

Thank you, Albajos!

I had seen everything already on the list, these are the new entries I'm yet to see:

801 --- Once Upon a Time in Anatolia Ceylan, Nuri Bilge 2011 Turkey 150
835 --- D'Est Akerman, Chantal 1993 Belgium 107
887 --- Last Bolshevik, The Marker, Chris 1993 France 120
983 --- Diary Perlov, David 1983 Israel 330

Trust TSPDT to get a 5 hour and 30 minute film in there. :D

The first 3 were all films high on my watchlist, and I already have the first 2, good push to see them. Diary on the other hand will likely be left for later this year (unless I just wish for the best from 2020). Anyone seen it here?
Once Upon A Time In Anatolia is one of my favorite films of the 2010's. Under the guise of a Police procedural, the viewer is gradually immersed in a landscape, characters, and stories that, through many subtle twists, turns and surprises become a very rich portrait of a place in time.

Also remember really liking The Last Bolshevik, but it's been a while, so I can't really say much.

The "alternative" titles are official though, no? Otherwise they wouldn't be specifically listed.

This exactly. I personally would rather not see long-form TV series on these lists, because I do see them as a different medium essentially - but I don't have to watch them, just as I don't have to watch films like Empire that show up. If you're obsessed enough with a list that you feel like you *have* to complete it, you have to tolerate watching a lot of stuff you don't want to regardless, and when you decide to complete a list like this - or any list - you're already ceding the authority of your own personal tastes and prejudices to those of other taste-makers, so I don't see the complaints as valid.

And let's face it, TV and film are growing closer together all the time - most people watch films on the same screens they watch TV on already, and increasingly many of us watch Amazon and Netflix which are producing both and marketing them essentially the same way on their platforms. Half the time when I'm browsing Netflix I have no idea if the titles I see are TV or "film" in the first place.

Yep, follow the source.

And I second the support for Once Upon A Time in Anatolia, it's a fantastic movie, exquisitely shot and with a depth to it that you rarely see in such beautiful movies. It's the whole package.
Personal film goals for 2019.

Yes, the cinematography in Ceylan's films is outstanding, and There are several very memorable scenes from "...Anatolia." My favorite is probably when they stop at a local's house for refreshment after being on the road most of the day

Not sure where better to post this question, but in doing a search, this topic came up a lot and I see the two projects as related. Anyway...

Besides Kasparius' now abandoned The 21st Century's Most Acclaimed Films (Previous Titles), does anyone know of a listing of titles that have fallen off The 21st Century's Most Acclaimed Films. I do see it's available on the TSPDT website, but want to be sure an iCM version doesn't exist.

I've just translated two Israeli critic polls and prepare to send them to TSPDT.
However, there are several film titles I can't translate. Can anyone help me?

Here are the ballots from Jerusalem Cinematheque 1986 poll.
