Climbed up massively in the Official ranks over the last three months, but have only edged slightly ahead in the total check ratings.

Makes sense, I guess, given that something like 95% of the films that I watch are Official these days.

My two ranks are still very close together, though not equal anymore...#121 by official checks, #118 by all checks.

Went from 34.84% to 35.52% official checks.

Pretty much all full-length movies. Number of shorts checked is marginal, TV stuff negligable.

I check TV series (and individual episodes) when I complete them, hence my huge disparity.

68.78% official checks, will probably decrease this month (<400 checks challenge), than increase again for the next years (since i will be watching some movies i should have seen already, than i will probably slowly decrease that difference in ratio again, because i will probably never become an official checks list hunter.)

I'm curious where i'll be at in 10 years... My parents were never into movies, so i haven't seen a lot of movies until i was 18 years old (maybe 50 at most?). Since than i have seen 700 movies, and i'm now 22,5 years old. I regret that i didn't saw as many movies when i was younger, and was even a bit prejudiced to it, but anyway.

Almost 50% of the movies i've watched are also produced after 2010, so i can only talk about that decade at most. Before that, i'm still filling the gaps where i need to, and than i will get into some directors/countries or whatever fits me. I also usually ignore a lot of blockbusters, so i'm a bit of an atypical movie watcher, watching mostly recent indie movies or foreign language movies.

I've seen 99/250 of the movies from the list iCM Forum's Top 250 Favourite Movies of the Current Decade So Far, but when it comes to older cinema, i'm pretty much "a noob" yes. :p

Flaiky: There are a number of films on icm that aren't on Letterboxd, so that's probably where the discrepancy is. I have 11 feature-length films on icm that aren't on Letterboxd yet. I don't use LB for shorts, but I suspect the number would be much higher if I included those.

Lakigigar: Don't fret about that. I didn't become serious into film until after I was 30. I hit 1000 films in 2013, and this year I'll be hitting over 2500. I don't think it's an issue that you didn't see a lot of films when you were younger; you're opinion of them would probably have changed over time anyway, or you may not have been able to appreciate some of them when you were a kid/teen.

Ditto, except I was 33. I mostly saw mainstream stuff, which does tend to accumulate over a few decades. And while I don't have my initial rankings stored, at the end of 2016, after working on these lists for 6+ months, I had skyrocketed up the rankings to #8366, with 914 official list checks.

Interesting thread. I did some checking into unofficial checks. All I would have to do to skyrocket upwards is add TV episodes I've watched. I maintain those in a spreadsheet. That would add over 21,000 checks to my count.

Well, I've basically watched TV shows (a completist) for the past 40 years. Only since I found this site have I focused more on film. I probably will never add those because it's icheckmovies and not ichecktvepisode. :)

Oh - so now you're calling me out for checking episodes? :sarcasm:

I'm similar. I use trakt.tv, which is kinda like Letterboxd for TV. And it's almost depressing just how many days/weeks/months/years you've spent watching TV when you see the numbers all in one spot...

I use trakt, Letterboxd, and imdb. No, I would never call you out. :) Sometimes I think I should add those checks and have everything in one online place, but that feels like such a daunting task to me.

Well, starting adding episodes for stuff I saw in the 80s like Soap or THe Cosby SHow I wouldn't do. I have no way to rate them that far back.

But I try to rewatch some stuff on Netflix, like Friends or 70s Show just to "Catch them all"

trakt is where I rate everything, and ICM is where I keep track of everything I've seen. I've never used Letterboxd, because I don't see what it does that trakt doesn't. I've all but given up on IMDB, as everything is so ad-laden and hard to use now. But like albajos, I can't rate things I saw a long time ago, so I rewatch a lot stuff.

Just seen this. I have more films logged on Lbxd than ICM so nope, that's not it. I think it's some rogue TV entries imported from my IMDB ratings being allocated to random films with the same title. I found a few of those already, but where are the otheeeerrrrs (whiny voice). I don't care if the number goes down, I want it to be accurate!
