Some (small) changes since last time. In fact, I would have to exclude TV Mini-series if I were to rate every TV show I've seen on ICM.

18 lists with 0 checks and no rank
lowest rank: Horror #60751
followed by six more imdb lists, then
lowest non-imdb list rank: More Noirs from TSPDT #37316
and then I must have seen a mini-series that got dropped from the list because I have 0 checks but #18916.
Five-year progress update.

I have checks on all lists
lowest rank: The Deuce Top 20 #19468
followed by six more lists above 10,000

For me it's #24, on two lists: Doubling the Canon and Spike Lee's Essential Film List.
#135 on the Canadian list, but sadly that's with only having seen 25 of the 103 films. I'm hoping it gets updated this year and will contain more accessible films, especially ones since the last update in 2004.
And this is still the Canadian list for me, at #6 with 109/134 (behind my two platinums for Jerry Beck and Annecy). 3rd still shows up ahead of me without a rank, though, so I guess I'm really #7. I don't think any other darksiders are above me on that list.

I'm sort of curious who's checking Amanda Award films. It seems like not many people here are working on that list, despite it being one of the smaller ones. Is Norway fairly well represented? (For the record, It's a slightly below average list for me in the rankings. 18/34 with a rank at 102, I believe.)

My bottom 5:
Bollywood 16/83 = 437
Zombies 484/1000 =/= 386 (This ranking isn't accurate. I watched a few off the list today.)
Turkish 13/53 = 350
Action A-Z 152/250 = 347
Cinema Tropical 20/125 = 342

My guess is it's a combination of mostly unknown films (outside of Norway/Scandinavia), subtitle aversion, and difficulty locating many of the films. Plus, most of those films (31/34 or 91%) are only on that list, so wouldn't show up in much cross-referencing.
I'm at 6/34 myself (rank #1009) but most of those films are ones I happen upon instead of seek out (the last two I checked were unexpected, one in theatres, and one on Mubi).

People on this forum only think of Bergman and Kaurismaki when looking for things from Scandinavia. It's completely pointless to have a poll even, when people don't want to expand.

All movies are on DVD. Most of them with english subtitles.

The films have been difficult to find in the states. For a while it was my only list with no checks.

(...)
Academy Award Best Pictures (61/86) #1378

0 checks for Africa, (obscure) South Korea and Bollywood.
I got checks for my last zero-lists and gained some more width overall. I'm <#200 for 25% of all lists and <#400 for more than 50% of all lists; a theoretical goal would be #1000 for all lists. It would be achievable, but I'd have to watch some stuff I technically don't care to watch. Am I really going to do this? .. on iCM, really? ..
:whistling:

#20162 @1/50: TV Mini-series - Yeah, well ..
#2161 @1/83: Top 100 Bollywood Films - Already 1 more than I intended to see :teehee:
#1940 @2/29: Amanda Award - Okay then
#1654 @6/50: Dutch Film Top 50 - Nah
#1345 @28/100: 100 Musicals (BFI Screen Guide) - Further than I ever dreamed to get
#1320 @33/100: 100 Essential Westerns - Will work on this.
#1145 @3/53: ekolay.net's Best Turkish Films - If I only didn't miss the World Cup match ..
Ok now this is interesting: I used to be on #10962 with 2/50 checks for IMDb's TV Mini-Series (back in Aug 2013) and now am #9977 with 2/50. How's that possible? I see a few users gone dark, maybe inactive accounts deleted or spam accounts removed, but literally a thousand? Apart from the fact you usually drop after the years. Weird.
(Thinking about it: Probably there's been some widely popular title that got rid off its mini-series tag, that happens a lot. My luck, then.)
So, almost 6 years later:

#N/A @0/58: Público Top Portuguese :o
#9977 @2/50: IMDb TV Mini-Series
#3134 @1/83: Outlook India Bollywood
#2326 @1/62: CineChile's Top 50
#2002 @1/59: Romanian Best Films
#1991 @5/102: Hürriet's Top 100
#1852 @29/100: BFI's 100 Musicals :ph43r:
#1693 @7/50: Dutch Top 50
#1624 @4/107: Cien años sin soledad
#1558 @4/35: Amanda Award
#1543 @9/50: Slate's Black Film Canon

.. and 19 :/ more lists where I'm below the Top 1000, some of them easy to fix (Greece, Argentinia, Finland), some of them a pain (3x AFI) or in need of more effort per rank (Australia, BFI Brit, Academy BP, Action).

Regarding my lowest lists, I'd be happy to put a little effort in any of the super-low lists with only 50 to 100 entries. You watch like 2 or 3 films, some of them high-regarded, gain experience in an until then unknown field of cinema and get a phenomenal boost in ranks.
In terms of gamification - we love that on ICM, don't we? - that's as easy as it gets!

[edit]I'm still <#275 for 25% of lists and <#500 for more than 50% of lists. Neat.

Absolutely, it's a wonderful movie! Your post reminds me of J-Dog's disbelief when he saw this movie appear at #1 of my 500<400 list.

.. and 19 :/ more lists where I'm below the Top 1000, some of them easy to fix (Greece, Argentinia, Finland), some of them a pain (3x AFI) or in need of more effort per rank (Australia, BFI Brit, Academy BP, Action).
Yay! I have what is big news for me (and just a small step in filmwatching for many of you) and can look on an imo massively enhanced Top-1000-situation. (New, fresh, adorable rankings are marked in green above!)

From 30 lists where I was ranked below #1000 (shame on me), I'm down to just 8, the remaining subset of lists I call "the American ones". :ph43r:
They're actually the most comfortable to fix, but for the moment the least appealing for me, tbf. Doing my homework on Turkey, some Bollywood, parts of South America (old and new), Norway with its fine contemporary pieces, or Dutch films (shoutout to Lammetje + joachimt! MINOES!) seemed way more interesting to me than adding even more random US-checks where I already have THOUSANDS of.

It was the first time since 2016 that I have been actually working on lists or my rankings on such. I have an ambiguous conclusion to all of this, maybe another time.

Anyway... what's left?:

Image

- 3x AFI with Cheers, Laughs and Passions. Oh boy, they do want drive me insane during our Covid lockdowns, really ...
- A few stupid action shlocks by Marshall Julius, 5 to 10 needed, yeah, thanks for that. JCVD and Master Norris gonna be my bois on this.
- A handful of Brits: Very good films on this, but I wasn't in the mood for classics. (Did I really call these the American lists? :ph43r: )
- BFI Musicals: Well, they're musicals, so .... (why do they do this to me)
- 100 Essential Noirs: Very good films, but they're classics of noir, so a naturally narrow niche of film in only a 2-decade-acceptable window of time. You can't hardly believe folks and their megalists: they adopted this noir-one with a full hundred of noirs, come on!
- And then there's the worst of all: Academy Award Best Picture
I've seen 75/93 of them, wtf, it's a good value normally, but NOT for a site who seems to be so committed to watching every of these most Hollywoodian possible. Many of my BP winners left are doubtable entries (such as.. musicals  ), and still, more than a thousand ICMers decided to go even further while having pathetic ranks on the BadMovies.org-list .. get your priorities straight, men!

So, maybe I will finish this and get some fine looking 3-digit-ranks on all lists available on ICM.
Or I decide to not bother for a while and return to films I indeed want to watch ...
We'll see. As Onderhond said, ICM often is like homework.
And as much as us movie newbie kids hated homework at the ICM school of nerds, you often learned for life.
Yeah.

I don't have a check yet on Mini-Series, Locarno or a bunch of the national lists. I'd like to add some from Locarno and the various countries. Couldn't give a shit if I ever even hit bronze on IMDb Mini-Series.

I noticed that you haven't checked any of Steven Seagal's early work. This is unacceptable and I suggest you start working on Steven's filmography right away. Check out this thread for inspiration.

Haha, I have the same ones among my lowest ranking lists. And they truly have some terrible films on them. Overall though, I'm not doing too badly on these three (all bronze), so they must really be popular.
