The description on Imdb doesn't match with what is shown in the clip.

"An arranged picture taken at Camp Meade, showing a squad of men defending the flag against an imaginary onslaught. The men drop one by one, until the old color sergeant alone is left and he defends himself with his revolver until he is finally dropped by the enemy."

LAST ROUND ENDED IN A FREE FIGHT. TWO WOMEN IN GYM CLOTHING OUTDOORS BOXING AS 4 OTHERS WATCH, LAUGH, AND END UP IN A TUSSLE TOGETHER. STUNT GAG WOMEN BOXING FIGHTING. 1898. STORY #FRA0606.

I don't always trust IMDb-descriptions. Or maybe there are two short with that title from 1898 and the right one isn't on IMDb?

It was good. Nothing exceptional but good. Weird how the big names was so so little in it, though the kid actors and the sequences with miniatures were great

First and only to check this film.

"A documentary that tells the true story of three men who lived on a billboard for nearly nine months to win a modular home."

I enjoyed it quite a bit. Nothing especially cinematic, but it is a great story and good characters.

Thanks for sorting these out, joachimt. I was so absorbed with last month's western challenge that I didn't get to do the last ones before now. Speaking of last month.... first to check 82 feature films. Old westerns are a goldmine for that challenge.

A 1957 western feature and I'm the first to check it? Weird, even if it is pretty obscure. For 50s western completists only, frankly.

Mildly amusing alternate history with Thomas Jefferson standing in for his not-yet-current (as of 2016) successor.

I added (and keep adding) a lot of music videos this week. Guess if I had to add it, than I'm first to check.

Yeah, I don't check music videos if I can avoid it. And it really aggravates me that so many of them clutter up the forum polls.

First to check:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGwHs1y3csw

The Hubleys' animation style is so wonderful. I try to see almost anything they did. Note that one of the contributing animators is their daughter Georgia, who later became famous with the band Yo La Tengo.

Huh? Music videos cluttering up the forum polls? Did I miss something? Can you give some examples? I really can't remember which polls contains (lots of) music videos.

There's a bunch of em on the shorts list of course, but not many I've encountered. Or maybe I've already checked most of em.

Here's one I'd never thought I'd get: A first check of a movie on an official list!

Rigoletto (1946)

Found on a digital streaming service (Hoopla) through my library. Might also be on YouTube, though I haven't confirmed that.

Social science fiction - people talking about ideas - so you may be disappointed if you're looking for more conventional movie/tv sci-fi. I dunno, I liked it, it gets at some things I'm interested in, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to most people.

Haven't heard of Barry Jenkins' film Mothlight - is it a remake of the Brakhage? :o

Yeah I joined early on - I used to use Lists of Bests, can't remember if I joined ICM before or after that imploded but I certainly spend a lot more time on it now that I'm on this forum.

I temporarily have a freeview of the Shorts cable channel...I set timers to record 23-24 shorts, but they aren't turning out to be too worthwhile. What surprises me is that these are shorts being shown on *television*, and yet I'm not only the first ICM check for many of them, I even had to add most of them to the database.

So far, I've watched 15 of these. I'm the first check on 11 of them, the second check on two and the fifth check on another. Then I saw one film ("The Soup") that doesn't even have an IMDB page, as far as I can tell!

The Record Girl 2012, in 0 top lists, (1 check)
Love In Porn 2016, in 0 top lists, (1 check)
Poubelle 2016 — a.k.a. Trash, in 0 top lists, (1 check)...definitely my favorite
I Think I Thought 2008, in 0 top lists, (1 check)
Super Goths 2009, in 0 top lists, (1 check)
Rainbow Party 2015, in 0 top lists, (1 check)...not bad
C'mon Get Happy 2011, in 0 top lists, (2 checks)
Ellipsis 2013, in 0 top lists, (1 check)
Blurry 2015, in 0 top lists, (2 checks)
Cataplexy 2011, in 0 top lists, (1 check)...decent
The Last Post 2015, in 0 top lists, (1 check)
The Real Truth Behind The Real True Story: Donnie Miller 2014, in 0 top lists, (1 check)
Air! 1972, in 0 top lists, (5 checks)
Emptiness 2015, in 0 top lists, (1 check)

[paste from shorts.tv]

The Soup
Comedy | Argentina | 2011

A voluptious cook serves soup to three homeless who get hypnotized by the curvilinear body of the cook who with the soup transport them into a different imaginary worlds where they are protagonist of strange situations.
