The perfect movies to finish official lists

#1

Post by beasterne »

I thought this discussion deserved its own topic. Interested to see what we can come up with. What is the best, or most perfect, or most appropriate film to win an award/complete an official list?

Prat posted in the Lost 'n' Found thread, "What could be more perfect than winning a bronze award on "BFI Flare’s The Best LGBTQ+ Films of All Time" with Pride?"

Armoreska added, "Not much. Maybe finishing TSPDT with TSHDT.
HK with Made in Hong Kong.
starting on Africa with Afrique, je te plumerai", at least until being reminded that TSHDT doesn't appear on TSPDT (not even the 1,001-2,000 list!)

I thought of a few others that would be very appropriate finishers to lists:

BFI's 100 Road Movies --> Two-Lane Blacktop
BFI's Top 100 British Films or Time Out's The 100 Best British Films --> Local Hero
Lola Award - Best German Film --> Run Lola Run

What others can we come up with?

thanks

I'll take the theme of death. (TW for everyone with issues)
Spoiler
1001 before Die: MASH (opening song)
basic backups: A Time to Live a Time to Die, Deep End, The Big Chill, The Big Sleep, The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, A Matter of Life and Death, The Masque of the Red Death, Trois vies et une seule mort, Die Hard, No Fear No Die, Farewell My Concubine, The Farewell, All That Heaven Allows, Days of Heaven, The Rapture, Le voyage dans la lune, Glory, Grave of the Fireflies

Guardian's 1001 before Die: also MASH
many of the same but as well
Morte a Venezia, Le grand voyage, Heaven's Gate, End of the Century, Howards End,

actually read all titles for next:
101 War
bronze with No Man's Land or The Thin Red Line
100% with MASH, Glory, Grave of the Fireflies, A Bridge Too Far, A Matter of Life and Death

101 Gangster
The Big Sleep, Kiss of Death, The Departed
he or A. or Armo or any

Nice idea for a topic. I would have a look at my progress page to try and think of another example, but alas - that steaming pile of shit of a website is down again.

I'm slowly working on finishing TSPDT. For now my plan is to finish it with The Long Day Closes.

Kinda fitting for BFI's 100 Film Musicals: Applause (1929) :poshclap:
(Or, for the not so-musical-happy like me: Hallelujah (1929) :ph43r: )

I got that Top Canadian Films bronze watching C.R.A.Z.Y
but that's a fitting film to finish it, also being great n all

*other than if you're deontologically against using ableist language which this would definitely qualify as
he or A. or Armo or any
