Bronze award for « BFI’s 100 Science Fiction Films » with Forbidden Planet (1956)
Gold Award for « Sight & Sound’s The Greatest Films of All Time » with Touchez pas au grisbi (1954)

Two good movies, especially the last one (and it's a shame, as a french, that it took me so long before I watched it tehe )

gz for that! One of the awards which is most hunted for.
I went to your profile to compare our stats for TSP1000/BYD1001 out of curiosity ... 2 days ago and had my tabs open since that  - and it seems you en passant got your platinum on TSPDT? :satstunned: Well .. then even bigger congratulations on that, I think? :woot:

Do you plan to finish the rest of S&S straight-forward next?

Thanks ! :D

Indeed, I just got platinum on TSPDT yesterday thanks to "The Reckless Moment" (1949) ! And in fact, I was "working on" TSPDT and had the gold on Sight & Sound without trying (the two lists are really close).

The problem with the S&S list is that it has a short that is unavailable : Line Describing a Cone (1973)
So, no, I won't finish the list anytime soon :( That said, I'm curious about the rest of the list, so maybe I'll try to complete it a little. Meanwhile, there's still a lot to watch from BYD1001 !

Uh, why the fuck was my rank downgraded to "extra?" I haven't done anything wrong. No one spoke to me about this. Every single check I have is legitimate.

Thanks !

It's fun to gain some awards :P The Romantic Comedies list doesn't interest me that much, but hey, that's still an award ! But your bronze on the Canadian list, that's something ; did you work on that list ? One thing is sure, when it got adopted, I realized how few canadian movies I've watched... and even now, I'm only at 15/134

Good luck on your award hunting !

That would be awesome, indeed

Fun fact and coincidence : I started the Sharon Rusell's African list with "Afrique, je te plumerai" ! (a long time ago, on september 9th, 2012)
But I haven't "plumé" this list, yet... :(

Yesterday, an other update for me : a silver Award on « Harvard’s Suggested Film Viewing : Narrative Films » with La nina santa (2004)

With all four watched, I already burning these but there must be other fitting titles out there.

I like this idea of finding the most thematically pleasing film to watch to complete a list. Maybe it deserves its own thread.

A couple others I thought of:

BFI's 100 Road Movies --> Two-Lane Blacktop
BFI's Top 100 British Films or Time Out's The 100 Best British Films --> Local Hero
Lola Award - Best German Film --> Run Lola Run

And of course The Last Picture Show and End of Watch would be good regardless of the list (End of Watch is on 0 official lists unfortunately).

Another missed opportunity is that The Favourite is not among iCM's Most Favorited.

Two news with yesterday's viewings :
Bronze Award on « Tim Dirk’s 100+ Most Controversial Films of All-Time » with Shortbus (2006)
Silver Award on « BFI Flare’s The Best LGBTQ+ Films of All Time » with Ich möchte kein Mann sein (1918)

Now, I have hope to finish the LGBT list this month !

I got my own BFI Flare Bronze during the previous (2018) official Queer Challenge. Still haven't worked it up to Silver yet, but I'm inside the top 100 users for the list, which is cool.

I'm 260 away from a Tom Vick bronze. But after I see the 50 or so films from the list that are solidly on my radar to see, I'll be just...200-something away? Ouch. That list is a tough one.

I got Bronze on it pretty recently after really focusing on it specifically for a while. It's definitely not an easy list to progress on given just the sheer number of films where it's the only list they're official on.

Huh, been holding this precious ICM Fav Silver for a while now at 188-193 (!) checks - today's update had seven changes, not to my favor, and throws me back to bronze.
Nothing uncommon, right?
Oh, Ishii's Shuffle (1981) is one to enter. 34 minutes of Japanese (cyber?)punk madness sounds like a doable job for me.

Still have an average ranking of #65 to #75 for the list, despite not "working" on it.

I mean, Notre-Dame de Paris (1998) has 96 checks with 20 favorites, doesn't that sound great? 8.9 on IMDb?! .. A French 2,5 hour filmed live musical? - Okay, maybe I'll rather go with Ishii.

That's really weird, I never thought that would be on a movie list... Well, we have lost films and art exhibit, so why not a live musical or a play at the theater.
I understand the very high rating on IMDB. I was a kid back then, but that musical was huge. It's a total reset for musicals and for a decade after that, musicals were everywhere. Notre-Dame de Paris also starred several singers that went famous on solo and everyone knew the songs from that musical even if people didn't see it.
I guess the ratings are justified by nostalgia.

I think next year, once I'm done with or have at least made some serious progress towards my long-term projects, I'm going to do a deep dive into the two classic Indian cinema lists. I saw Awaara today, my first Raj Kapoor joint, and I continue to be extremely impressed with old school Bollywood. Excited to watch Shree 420 tomorrow.
