It won't become my favourite list, but I just added a recent publication, Rolling Stone's 50 Greatest Comedies of the 21st Century.

Predictably predictable list, coming from a publication like Rolling Stone. It does remind me that I need to see Force Majeure and Toni Erdmann, though.

Yeah, extremely predictable. But I expect that there will be enough iCM users who like it, so why not add it?

But you should watch those two films indeed, because they're very good.

Oh yeah, I wasn't implying that it shouldn't be added or anything, I was still interested in checking out what was on there, even if it ended up rather predictable. And yep, I very much look forward to watching both of those (especially Force Majeure, that one in particular looks right up my alley).

It's not due to be released until the end of September, but I've put in the request to my library to purchase the book. If they decide to buy it, I'll get it first.

Good luck adding all the films to IMDb.

X-Men higher than X2?! I agree but that didn't seem to me to be the common opinion.

Admittedly, superhero movies are not a forte of mine, but Iron Man 2 and The Wolverine are on there, whaaa? Figured that Logan would be included over The Wolverine. Those random Brits that were polled are a rather unusual bunch, apparently.

I put in the request to the library, but it was rejected because the scheduled release date is too far out.

If you could, remind me in about a month, and I'll resubmit (I'll likely forget).

I resubmitted this in July, and I got a formal rejection notice, which basically boiled down to "too obscure - go away". So I'm unable to get this book. If anyone else wants to try, you're welcome to do so. Book is released end of Sept.

New York Mag sometimes does articles where they take the entire work by a musician or writer or filmmaker and rank it. They just posted a ranking of Gus Van Sant.

http://www.vulture.com/2018/07/gus-van- ... anked.html

I was stunned that they put Gerry first. I hated hated hated Gerry. I have to admit I'm not a big fan overall of Van Sant, or at least of those movies of his I have seen. Here's how I would rank the seven Van Sant movies I've seen. I only think the first three are worth seeing.

1. Paranoid Park
2. To Die For
3. Milk
4. Good Will Hunting
5. Finding Forrester
6. Elephant
7. Gerry

I was looking for some Academy Award lists on the site, but couldn't find them... anyone have links to winners of Director, Actor, Actress, Supporting Actor, and/or Supporting Actress?

I cry every time I try to use the list search feature. How on earth can we have a search that only searches the TAGS of lists, and not the TITLE or DESCRIPTION.

Doh... searched "oscar", "academy", "director", and "actor"... didn't search for "award"; and that's the only thing any of them are tagged with. Such a terrible search mechanic. Thank you!

Best anime and anime directors voted by 30 Japanese critics
https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments ... _japanese/

It looks like these critics used to like anime, and then lost interest in anime. The poll is from 2017, and Madoka Magica is the only post-2000 anime series on the list (although there are a few recent movies on the list).

Not sure if this is the right place for it, but i've posted a coming-of-age list on ICM. Of course, it won't be entirely complete, but it's a pretty extensive list, and could help people give direction when they're interested in coming-of-age movies (esp. if they sort on number of checks / favorites or official lists).

For Dutchies:
I made a list of the movies that are on Film1 as "on demand".
https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/film ... /joachimt/
I'll update it once a month, just like I do with the Netflix-list.

This list convinced me to take a subscription on Film1 as well. Lots of things I planned to see.

only 28/263 on more than 1 official list (wow Jumanji 2 made the all time list)
a few dozen more on 1 list, but mostly just the BO list.

I'm just doing some calculations. There are six titles on there that are on my watchlist, that I would buy on DVD/Bluray. I mostly buy movies for 7 or 8 euros. So that's 42 to 48 euros I won't be spending then. The subscription costs 7,99 a month or 79,99 a year (after one year you can delete every month). So 79,99 euro is equal to 10 or 11 DVD's/Blurays. So if they have 10-11 movies a year that I would have bought otherwise, I'll be saving money. There are several titles on there that I bought recently. I can't save that money now, but if that's what I can expect to come in the future, I'll certainly have more than 10 movies a year that I wanted to see anyway.

These are on my watchlist, btw:

Interesting find. I question the inclusion of some films on this list (a few seem distinctly Kiwi to me, while a few others are decidedly mediocre), but it's a poll by the general population and there's a (unintentional?) focus on family. Recent films also benefit much more than on the official Aussie list.

Added to icm for your list completion pleasure: https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/adel ... genaprido/

The Animetacritic list is a list of top-rated anime, based on anime bloggers' MAL ratings.

I was curious to see what a S&S version of this list would look like, based on "favorite anime" lists instead of ratings. I downloaded the "favorite anime" lists from the same set of bloggers and compiled this list, based on 135 bloggers' favorites.

Compared to the top-rated list, I noticed that Lain is ranked much higher (#250 top-rated, #17 most-favorited).

Talking about Czech polls, I just find that there was a best-of-all-time poll of Czech filmmakers in 2012.
https://www.lidovky.cz/byznys/media/vyc ... -media_ase

However, I can't find anything about the overall result nor the individual ballots.

I've put the forum's list 1002-2000 onto ICM because it wasn't there yet, and I was curious to see how many titles <400 checks there were. (Answer: 153! + 17 on the main list)

Are all of the voters Italian? And is FilmTv a magazine?

It's behind a paywall. Do you have access to the complete poll? I wouldn't mind adding it to iCM.

Top 100 looks a good list, probably would be better than either of the current official Italian lists as a general intro to Italian cinema (first list is limited 1942-1978, second is broader but probably too broad with 250 films and I'm not sure what the criteria of the book selection was)
