Been a while since last time and I've been sort of only semi-active, yet I've climbed the ranks to record heights:

Yesterday I also passed the milestone of 25,000 checks total!

MANY.... not quite sure how it stacks up anymore, except I know I've passed 9,000 features.

Before the July challenges:
DtC:236/1200 #446
Golden Horse: 24/104 #486
100 Classic Martial Arts Films: 10/99 #1659
LoveHKFilm: 23/203 #1237
The Best 100 Chinese Motion Pictures: 19/104 #574
Asian Cinema: A Field Guide 103/843 #966

After the July Challenges:
DtC:244/1200 #419 +8 films +27 rank
Golden Horse: 29/104 #348 +5 films +138 rank
100 Classic Martial Arts Films: 13/99 #1133 +3 films +526 rank
LoveHKFilm: 33/203 #573 +10 films +664 rank
The Best 100 Chinese Motion Pictures: 26/104 #307 +7 films +267 rank
Asian Cinema: A Field Guide 112/843 #799 +9 films +167 rank

I'm still working on these lists this month as this month's challenges don't interest me too much (although there are most likely some qualifying films, <400 and 90s+)

It's a palindrome date (at least here in the States) so this is an appropriate number of checks

Nice! Keep it up - I went from 8366 at the end of '16 to 1976 at the end of '17. And official shorts are definitely your friend, rankings-wise.

Wow! That is a crazy statistic. How many films did you have to watch to make that climb?

And thanks for the encouragement! I'm using my rank as a consistent motivator to see more movies at this point. Crossing the 4000 threshold was a big one. Maybe after I crack the top 1000 or so I'll start to focus on those shorts, but for now I just have way too many must-see films to care too much about my overall rank.

For "official" movies, that was 787 films. But a huge number of those were shorts. I used to use the shorts as an excuse to take a break (often at work) when I needed to clear my mind. I certainly couldn't justify movie or even a conventional short film, but 60 seconds of footage from the 19th century is unobtrusive enough to fit in when you need a couple minutes to rest and clear your head.

PS: Here's a great list of official shorts, sorted by run time: https://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/all+ ... ts/mjf314/

Just reached 7000 checks myself. Celebrated the milestone with an unseen Svankmajer short - delightful, weird and wacky as ever:

Your rank has been updated from Movie star to Oscar nominee

...which means that I have seen 25%+ of Official List films. Somehow this thought doesn't make me happy. I'm already worried about running out of interesting stuff to watch.

Well, not worried worried, but it does make me realise that the end is (somewhat) in sight.

And sure, there's more to life than Official List movies, but iCM has been a great way to structure my viewings over the past 18+ months.

It's not like there won't continue to be new lists added - and some lists like the box office, Criterion and MOC will keep adding titles. Not to mention all the awards lists.

That's true, of course. And there are quite a few non-stagnant lists; They Shoot Zombies and Doubling the Canon are open to rampant change every single year. So no, I shouldn't fret yet.
