I have 42 10/10s from this decade. Would be nice to make a top 50 by the end of the year. If I accomplish that before the end of the year then I'll make my video sooner.

Heard of almost none of the ones listed in OP. A few of them are still to come on the RYM list. Don’t know most of the artists either. Art Angels is the only one I’ve listened to. And Oblivion and Alright are great songs, don’t know the others. I plan to work on the Pitchfork decade lists soon though.

Since I can't help myself when there's an excuse to make up a list, I made up a loosely ranked version of it on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/62sdC ... I6mvlfxjXg

It's surprising how many of these songs I listened to while I was depressed (and shared with my 'best friend' at the time, we were always together so I stole some of his music and he stole some of mine.. and so are now a bit triggery).

We can at least agree on ariel pink. Mature Themes would be in my top 100 of the decade.

There's also one Shannon and the Clams song I really like but I can never remember what it's called. It's the one where they do the sloppy three chord garage pop thing :shifty:

Red Eyes is a great song. Strangest Thing is my favorite song by The War on Drugs, closely followed by An Ocean In Between the Waves and Holding On.

They're from Philly!

I pretty much stopped keeping up with current music/buying new albums around 2015, as my life got busier, my interest in film spiked even more, and I just found less new stuff to get excited about. So in the near future I'd love to spend time digging deeper into the 2nd half of the 2010s to seek out worthwhile new artists. So with that in mind, my top 10 albums are mostly 2010 to 2013 releases with a few exceptions:

1. Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
2. Yuck - Yuck
3. Beach House - Teen Dream
4. Blood Orange - Cupid Deluxe
5. Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool
6. Big Boi - Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty
7. Courtney Barnett - Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit
8. Charli XCX - True Romance
9. Chromatics - Kill for Love
10. Heron Oblivion - Heron Oblivion

HM:
Grimes - Visions
St. Vincent - St. Vincent
Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest

Charli XCX's True Romance would have been in my top 50, but the feature with Brooke Candy was just so abysmal.

I found 2018 to be one of the best years for music ever, so I would definitely recommend catching up on it.

I am writing rough notes about my top 50 albums of the decade, and hopefully I can make a video about it around December.

Yeah, that True Romance track with that Brooke Candy gal is a weak spot.

2018, eh? Cool, I'll hone in on that year. And I'd watch that video if you end up making it.

This album is really growing on me: https://rateyourmusic.com/release/ep/li ... enerasian/

Never thought an album by a kpop star might reach my top 50.

RYM genre tags always get my hopes up. Is it really that good/interesting?

It took a few listens to grow on me but if you enjoy stuff like fka twigs then at least some of this should click with you.

Also don't forget that the new Have a Nice Life album is coming out very soon. It will probably land on some best of the decade lists.

I think these listmakers are gonna be pissed that they made them before listening to FKA Twigs' masterpiece. And yes, it did leak.

Paste has released their Top 100 Best Songs of the 2010s. (I haven't heard of most of them).

      Top 25:

      25. Frightened Rabbit, "Swim Until You Can't See Land"
      24. Arcade Fire, "The Suburbs"
      23. Childish Gambino, "This is America"
      22. Carly Rae Jepsen, "Run Away With Me"
      21. Snail Mail, "Pristine"
      20. St. Vincent, "New York"
      19. Jason Isbell, "Cover Me Up"
      18. Kevin Morby, "City Music"
      17. Car Seat Headrest, "Drunk Drivers / Killer Whales"
      16. Beyoncé, "Love on Top"
      15. Vampire Weekend, "Hannah Hunt"
      14. Kanye West, "Runaway"
      13. Courtney Bartnett, "Pedestrian at Best"
      12. Solange, "Cranes in the Sky"
      11. Lucy Dacus, "Night Shift"
      10. Angel Olsen, "Shut Up Kiss Me"
      9. Frank Ocean, "Thinkin About You"
      8. Sharon Van Etten, "Seventeen"
      7. Phoebe Bridgers, "Motion Sickness"
      6. Alvvays, "Archie, Marry Me"
      5. Kendrick Lamar, "Alright"
      4. Mitski, "Your Best American Girl"
      3. Beyoncé, "Formation"
      2. Robyn, "Dancing On My Own"
      1. LCD Soundsystem, "Dance Yrself Clean"

Interesting that in their write-up for This is America they essentially just focused on the music video, which IMO should be a separate category. If you're making a list of best songs, I think it should be based on how it stands by itself without any accompanying visuals. Thoughts?

edit - And Stereogum has a Top Album list as well.

      25. Sunbather (Deafhaven)
      24. Lost in the Dream (The War on Drugs)
      23. Summertime '06 (Vince Staples)
      22. Bon Iver, Bon Iver (Bon Iver)
      21. A Seat at the Table (Solange)
      20. Body Talk (Robyn)
      19. The Idler Wheel... (Fiona Apple)
      18. mbv (My Bloody Valentine)
      17. Melodrama (Lorde)
      16. Carrie & Lowell (Sufjan Stevens)
      15. Blackstar (David Bowie)
      14. The Suburbs (Arcade Fire)
      13. Channel Orange (Frank Ocean)
      12. This is Happening (LCD Soundsystem)
      11. DAMN. (Kendrick Lamar)
      10. Red (Taylor Swift)
      9. Emotion (Carly Rae Jepsen)
      8. Night Time, My Time (Sky Ferreira)
      7. Beyoncé (Beyoncé)
      6. good kid, m.A.A.d city (Kendrick Lamar)
      5. Blond (Frank Ocean)
      4. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (Kanye West)
      3. Art Angels (Grimes)
      2. Yeezus (Kanye West)
      1. To Pimp a Butterfly (Kendrick Lamar)

I really did not anticipate how much Carly Rae Jepsen would be appearing on these lists. I only know "Call Me Maybe," which is, uh...not for me.

They're not for me, but Carly Rae Jepsen's latest 2 albums garnered tons of praise. The songs are definitely better than Call Me Maybe.

Listened to Hannah Diamond's Reflections and I'm just completely speechless and flabbergasted. Easily one of the best of the decade. It's like trance without the optimism and club-friendly atmosphere. It's replaced with melancholy and being cold.

The album is great, and it's the first time in a while that I've been following the evolution of an album's post-release rating in RYM. Despite the low number of ratings so far, I'm glad that the fact that most people had already heard most of these songs isn't diminishing its reception. Hannah Diamond is awesome.

It's funny with Conan Osiris. Didn't hear of any activity for like 2 years. Turns out he was in eurovision out of all places.

Ecco2k's e is like an even more ethereal version of Blonde and absolutely destroys it. A combination of everything good about musical trends in the last few years.
