Hi fori, might be a good idea to provide some introduction; such as what sort of a musical act is it, what kind of music they make :) What draws you them, etc. etc.

Haha I wrote this when I was completely plastered, hanging out in a forested part of a footy field with a guy I’ve never seen before or since playing a guitar.
But I’ll stick by it. They’re a British folk rock group with a lot of good records. They specialise in rejigging traditional folk songs with electric guitars and rock arrangements. Start anywhere with their 70s output, it’s all good. I was introduced to this by my dad, as he used to play the “All Around My Hat/Black Jack Davy” single & the “Portfolio” compilation all the time when I was in primary school. Eight year old me would have likely picked that Black Jack Davy rendition as my favourite song. Never fails to feel amazing.

I should add though: I’m a sucker for this stuff. Songs from the Wood is one of my top 5 albums, love Fairport convention, love neo-medieval prog & folk.

The one from this compilation. I didn't realize that there were multiple versions.

That seems to be the version off “Hark! The Village Wait”. There is a different version that kicks off “Please To See The King”.
