You can now stream the Low album here https://www.npr.org/2018/09/06/64458401 ... e-negative

Easily my favourite album of the year and one of my favs (well you saw its ranking here). This is higher quality than the leak that came out too.

Kate Bush? That's quite a surprise. But I quite like her, though I haven't listened to this album yet.

That Kate Bush album is her most manic, theatrical, and experimental. It was my #1 at one point.

If people say electronic music lack a human element, or even emotion, I show them Coil's Ape of Naples. Seriously makes me cry almost every time. The backstory of the album doesn't help either. The band is a gay couple, and the vocalist died. Only 3 songs are new and incomplete. You can hear that the vocals are taken from live performances and are of lower quality. The rest are from their unreleased album made in the early 90s completely reworked by the producer after the death.

Oh, I'm already loving quite a bit of stuff, in fact a lot is overlapping from your old list and I'm sure you know my tastes by now - the few genres that I really am not into are harsh noise, extreme (black/war) metal and rap/hip hop - most of the rest is of great interest for me. And indeed even with the genres I dislike there are always some exceptions so I generally tend not to generalize things especially seeing as it's becoming increasingly difficult to assign labels to stuff - music has developed quite a bit over the past few decades, these days I sometimes feel we need a "no genre" similar to "no wave"

Low's album came out today and I just listened to it the first time in FLAC. I thought this was absolutely amazing with the leak, but the final release mix makes it even better. This album seriously has potential to get into my top 10. It's exactly what I want in a pop album. This album destroys their debut I Could Live in Hope.

As I was making this list on RYM, I decided that I should change the #299 and #300 spots. I thought of 2 albums that are more deserving than that. I'll list them here. I also found an album from this year that I would add to this list, but I've yet to decide its ranking.

300. zeitkratzer, Svetlana Spajic, Dragana Tomić & Obrad Milić - Serbian War Songs (2017)
Serbian Folk Music, Noise, Industrial, Fucking Terrifying
Image 299. Misha Mishajashvili - 2018 (2018)
Illbient, Industrial/Instrumental Hip Hop, USSR Music, Noise
Image N/A. Eric Taxxon - Punk (2018)
Satire, Plunderphonics, Sound Collage, Glitch, Top 40 Pop
50 years of sampling and plunderphonics has led us to the song I'm Not Famous. One of the best acts of musical trolling I have ever heard.

Another day another pair of masterpieces from the greatest year in music history

Clarence Clarity - Think: Peace (2018)
Alternative R&B, Glitch/Art/Noise/Electropop, Boy Band, Essential Weed Music
I honestly hated this at first. It's not nearly as experimental or dense as his previous album. This sounds like a weird NSYNC album. But wow did it grow on me. Very addicting.

I think I may have found the king of pop music (the last 2 entries here). Going to listen to more of his work. The final entry here will be VERY highly ranked. It may even be top 10. I'm sure you know of him. He did the soundtrack for the film Paprika.

Abu Obaida Hassan - Abu Obaida Hassan & His Tambour: The Shaigiya Sound of Sudan (2018)
Nubian Music
Image 老丹 [Dan Lao] - 思維扭曲的行動體 (Functioning Anomie) (2018)
Free Improvisation, Jazz so aggressive that I would call it noise. The youtube track is the only calm one
Image 核P-Model [Kaku P-Model] - 回=回 (Kai Equal Kai) (2018)
Art/Electro/Glitch Pop
Image 平沢進 [Susumu Hirasawa] - 救済の技法 (Kyuusai no Gihou) (1998)

ooh a blast from the past. i remember listening to attic demonstration at a friend's place back in college. listened to it back to back with kenny knight's crossroads while downing a couple quarts of high life. ahh to be young and a private press snob and not so prone to hangover. i remember liking it quite a bit at the time but haven't listened to it since. sure was a great 2am record. i did prefer the kenny knight record, even if it's a little less interesting.

Songs are impossible for me. I prefer to stick with albums. I also won't update this because I have too many albums to add.

Well I don't think I'm going to do an albums one, too much of a commitment! Even unranked. Be good to see anyway!
