Anyone know Kevin Ayers? I would imagine this name means nothing to most folks, I must say despite being quite heavily into prog (and a big fan of the Canterbury scene) I discovered his solo work rather recently.

Interesting opinion:
The British rock journalist Nick Kent wrote: "Kevin Ayers and Syd Barrett were the two most important people in British pop music. Everything that came after came from them.

I remember being really into Soft Machine (Henry Cow too) but never heard his solo stuff.

Bassoons are underrated.

I didn't realize they were prog. So they must have been my 1st prog band, pretty sure I got to Pink Floyd later.

Oh, they sure are, Canterbury scene, jazz rock - actually not the most "easy listening" act at all... strange that you discovered them before Floyd :)

This is such a strange hip hop album, if you could even call it that, but it's quite beautiful and compelling

Great song, great album! Jidenna's backstory is pretty amazing too, albeit also harrowing.

From the Paris Is Us soundtrack: Laurent Garnier: Meeting Pt2

It's so rare to find real electronic/dance music in films.

This is pretty sweet too, sadly not part of any soundtrack (yet!)

Listening to Film-Noir (Free Download) by french musician JKP.

Image

Four short pieces with samples from two Film Noir movies: Impact (I have this favored on ICM), He Walked By Night (Rated it 7/10 on IMDB) and two Trash Horror movies: Plan 9 from Outer Space (I actually rated it 4/10 on IMDB but my recollections are rather positive, 6/10ish), and Manos: The Hands Of Fate (which I also rated 4/10 on IMDB, which sounds about right).
The movies might have been chosen for being sampled because they're all on archive.org for free. I guess musicians don't know about qurugurgu. Anyway, I think it's a lovely homage to these movies. :poshclap:
