New Gas leaked 2 days early :circle:

He turned into Malick. Doesn't release anything for 17 years and then starts releasing one thing a year.

Nevermind it's easily his weakest one.

Maybe it'll grow on me.

aw that sucks. his last one, after the long hiatus, was pretty great, right up there with Kongisforst and Zauberberg.

I haven't heard anything since the double Double Days, but their collabs are pretty hit and miss and miss.

If that's the latest you've heard then you're missing out on The Daughters Union. Great album.

Doing the daunting task of going through Autechre's discography for the long weekend. I can't study because my brain is being melted.

This is quite the adventure so far.

Already heard NTS Sessions so won't need to go through it again. I will relisten to elseq on weed so that should be fun. I'm also gonna listen to their 9 live albums.

AE_LIVE is pretty underrated, you'd think it'd be just because of the time issue but the only people listening to it are going to be crazy obsessives so, yeah, I'll go with it, underrated. It's quite a bit more atmospheric (but not ambient) than their usual releases, while also being very heavy on the low end comparably, because, well, live music, some bodies is going to being dancing, presumably. this is AE's perverse idea of club music. Immediately tonal and atonal 'round the edges. and channel shifting heavy at times. playing to/with the room. It's kind of weird they only released the first four initially, as the latter five are much better, in some cases significantly better. Nagano thru Dour might be my favorite music of theirs. I think it was Utrecht is pretty weak except the last ten minutes or so. You'll obviously hear some repeated bits but the parameters are usually tweaked and they'll rearrange elements to shift from one music segment to another. The sequencing and parameter tweaking/"knob twiddling" seems to be spontaneous/improvisational.

oh and a couple of almost discernible vocal samples, which is, of course, practically unheard of in their work.

what, Quaristice.Quadrange.ep.ae? probably because it's riffs on Quaristice and they didn't want to charge people full price for it. like EP7 is, what, 70m. barely shorter than LP5.

So at one point near the ending of the Brussels live album, it sounded a lot like c16 deep tread. That really fucked with my head.

My music player doesn't go in that much detail so I didn't know.

It's their weakest NTS Session anyways :P

The 2018 Heavy Metal World Cup.

"[T]he first round is as follows:

Alestorm vs Babymetal
Within Temptation vs Avenged Sevenfold
Myrkur vs Bullet For My Valentine
Gojira vs Immortal
Burgerkill vs Sepultura
Wrust vs Underside
Ghost vs Parkway Drive
Iron Maiden vs Rammstein"

Saw both from first match live this year; BABYMETAL ftw!

Sophie's album. Talk about overhyped. Had some great moments with heavy industrial beats but some of the vocals placed in there didn't fit at all. Immaterial was top 40 bullshit.

Getting quite disturbed now.

Xxxtentacion has been killed and people are celebrating his death. He was an abusive rapist asshole, but definitely doesn't deserve to get killed, or celebrating the fact that he died.

I mean, isn't that what social media has devolved to? Everything that I disagree with or find upsetting needs to be eliminated, literally?

not that your reaction isn't relevant. but having a normal, humane, balanced reaction to something unfortunately isn't the norm on the internet anymore.

having said that, I didn't know of the guy or his music until this happened. I know of Denzel Curry and a couple others but the whole soundcloud and mumble rap scenes have completely passed me by.

But absolutely, if he was a rapist and a homophobe, just ignore him and don't support labels or platforms that support him, easy and done, don't think his murder was justified, jesus people come on.
