I suck at determining sub-genres, so I wouldn't know what qualifies. Any references?bal3x on Oct 10 2016, 10:13:19 AM wrote:Well, doing my bestjoachimt on Oct 10 2016, 09:56:45 AM wrote:Great! bal3x listening to some recent prog.bal3x on Oct 10 2016, 09:44:59 AM wrote:Have been listening to some Headspace - not bad at all!![]()

btw, do you have any recs for some great recent symphonic prog? Or some avant, psych-prog? Eclectic, jazz-rock, fusion maybe?
Have a look at prog sub-genres on http://www.progarchives.com/ - all those are there that I mentioned. I can go by top lists as well. Here's the 2000s one, perhaps you can pick some from here: http://www.progarchives.com/top-prog-al ... =2014#listjoachimt on Oct 10 2016, 11:27:43 AM wrote:I suck at determining sub-genres, so I wouldn't know what qualifies. I've listened to parts of it. Enough to know I'll love this again, just like their previous albums.Ettinauer226XL on Oct 22 2016, 01:43:57 PM wrote:Did you listen to it yet?joachimt on Oct 11 2016, 12:38:20 PM wrote:It's on my shopping list. The band was always just alright to me; enjoyable but forgettable, and this album felt the same to me. It's just, it's so cookie-cutter djent. A slightly dissonant riff that's usually an open chord, the drummer hitting the same cymbal all the time, and the bass drum going along with the guitar riff.
Although if you are a huge fan of them then I'm sure you'll love this.
And today I had Fired (1996) in the mail by the same band. Marvelous week!!joachimt on Apr 5 2018, 03:21:25 PM wrote:I finally got a copy of the 1993-release of X-Legged Sally's Killed by Charity. Not the Japanese re-release from 2015, but the original!!![]()

Not metal at all. What is it called? Jazz/Fusion whatever...monk-time on Apr 6 2018, 04:20:12 PM wrote:I distinctly remember that band's name and covers, and I think I even gave their albums a spin ~8 years ago when I was at the end of my prog phase, but I can't recall anything about the actual music. A bit metally, right?
I might have to try again someday.
