Exchange student as in AFS? Thinking about Italy. I'm 15 years old. I love movies and music. I'm from Faroe Islands. My favorite movies are It's a Wonderful Life, Requiem For A Dream and many others. My favorite artists are Heart, Nana Mouskouri and many others! Not so keen on new music!

Hi everyone, I'm Chris - And I'm a Film Addict!

I'm a 20 year old journalist student from Norway. Written a few screenplays, but haven't done anything with them yet. Of course I would love to work on film in some form, but I doubt that will happen anytime soon. Until this time I'll be your local obseesed listmaker.

Life policy: It's not about what you say, but how you say it.

Quirk 1: If a movie can be described as mean-spirited, depressing and cruel I will most likely love it.
Quirk 2: I like Russian & French comedies
Quirk 3: I make lists - Lots of lists. In fact I just made one right here. Hope you enjoyed it.

Howdy. I'm fairly new to the whole cinephile scene. About December time I started a World Cinema collection and it's gotten to about 50 items so far, and adding more when I can/justify a purchase. Though otherwise I've started going over films I've just overlooked or neglected over the years and beginning to try and catch up to you pros.

Hello!

I'm Nenad and I'm from southern Sweden. I'm 21 years old and studying math & physics right now (also studied some philosophy) but hopefully going to study practical filmmaking pretty soon. That's the plan anyways, to direct and write short films at first.

See you around!

Hi, my name is Gary, and I'm a check whore. I live in the People's Republic of Virginia, USA. I "work" in IT, so usually have a lot of time to monitor network performance during the day.

ICM is a deadly combination of two personal obsessions - movies and lists.

I'm Lauren, 20, and I'm from Western Australia. Currently studying Computer Science at uni.

I found the Top 250 in 2005, when I was 14, and really started to get into movies. I found iCM late 2009 and have been obsessed since. I also have an obsession with lists and statistics and keep records about most things I do :)

Eric from Oregon.

Grew up watching horror and sci-fi, so that's where my weakness is. Mid-90s and older is what I prefer, going back all the way to the silents. I'm also into cheesy action from the same periods as the others. I'll also throw out my love of film noir and westerns, both of which I couldn't stand when I was younger. I used to hate black and white movies. Westerns looked boring and I'd only ever see them aired on the Jesus channels, so I had no interest there.

Our first VCR had a wired remote, loaded from the top, and I picked out the first movie we bought for it. Godzilla vs Megalon.

I'm Lars from Norway, 21 years old.

At the moment im in the Norwegian Army, stationed near Tromsø, at the northern part of Norway. Almost at the North Pole.

At first I was a movie addict, in terms of buying movies. I rarely watched movies, but I loved to collect them. I spent a lot of money on movies, and justified it to myself, since I didn't smoke.

Then I started watching movies, and I found out that it was fun aswell! So now I have a bunch of movies to watch, which is great!

I've become a ICM-junkie. I just watch movies that are in top lists, which is a pity, because there is so many other movies I'd like to watch. Really hoping that these Personal lists will come soon, so that I can trick myself into watching unlisted movies..

Hi. I'm Rose from Colorado. I first started getting into movies when I first saw an AFI list of the 100 greatest movies. I've been obsessed with watching movies ever seen this. ICM is definetly feeding my obsession.

Hi, I'm Tristan from Edmonton, Canada! I've always enjoyed world cinema since my mom first showed me "Farewell My Concubine" when I was 11 years old. I first discovered the They Shoot Pictures top 1000 list in 2006 and finally finished it in 2009, which I thought was obsessive enough of me at first, but since I've discovered iCM, my cinephilia has totally gotten out of control. And I like it!

So who am i, well lets see i'm a 35 year old cinéaste residing in Sweden with a predilection for animation, the japanese cinema and the avant-garde/experimental but maybe most of all Bresson's movies which began back in the 90s.

Sorry to say (for the rank on Top Users, right now #33) most of the films i have seen (yes most) doesn't appear on any list on ICM.

Hello, all. I'm Lee, and I live in New York City. I teach literature, so I think I got into film as a means to feed my voracious appetite for stories in a way that didn't seem work-related. ;o)

I look forward to the point at which the iCM site opens up to all lists. Then the site will be worth re-visiting as entertainment, so that one can stroll through new list after list, checking like mad. The site would then be like ListsofBests, except without the myriad duplicate films and with a clear view of who's seen what (the latter of which ListsofBests used to have long ago).

Well, the Brakhage anthologies are nearing the top of my Netflix list. Is the Art of Vision really hard to find?

Yeah The Art of Vision is kind of an ICM holly Grail. There are no vhs/dvd/tv rips anywhere. There are only a couple of 16 mm copies in the whole world. Two of which are in New York.

I live close enough to MoMA that I could go there to watch The Art of Vision, but I'm not a fan of Brakhage so 4 hours of Brakhage will probably be torture for me. I won't request a screening of it anytime soon, but if someone else requests it, I'll probably go and watch it so that I don't miss my chance.

Kasparius,

Given my heretofore ignorance, I hardly feel worthy to slurp away like a boor from the Holy Grail!

But it may be that I will come around and eagerly await the chance. Is it as mjf says-- you have to go to the MoMA and request a viewing?

You have to request a viewing from the film department.

@ormazd: I'm not going to film Art of Vision for 4 hours. Also why should I make it easy on everybody else?

Oh come on! If you hold your iPhone still for 4 hours and record it I promise to check it without actually seeing it. How's that for a good deal?

I'm David from Atlanta, Georgia and I'm a teacher/historian. My first cinephilic experience: getting my mom to take me to a screening of Birth of a Nation when I was about 13 years old...and staying for the discussion afterward. I studied film in grad school for about a year before realizing that reading film theory was about as fun as scrubbing my face with a cheese grater.
