In honor of monty and because this runs through my brain about this 50% of the time I am putting on my shoes and socks when getting ready for work...

Put both my socks on and then my shoes. I don't like the feeling of one foot being different so if I do it the other way one foot gets warm and heavy first and then the first few seconds that the second shoe goes on I feel weird.

First all socks than shoes, for the simple reason that there is a lot of time between getting out the shower plus dressing and when I will leave my house and put on shoes.

apparently option A prevails mightily. I think I tend to do both A and B... I'll have to pay more attention to which is the more common technique I employ.

That's an easy one. Just like Mighty, I'd feel weird having one bare foot and one socked & shoed foot, even if it's just for a few seconds. And just like Lonewolf, I put on my socks way before I put on shoes.

By the way, can you please write the topic title with a capital 'S', Peep?

usually I just change inside socks for outside. First vote for 1 sock at a time. Did that just a few hours ago before taking out the vegetable peels into the park.
Back home, I usually take off the shoes first then socks instead.

I distinctly remember my father teaching me as a young child how to put my socks on. One of my earliest memories, actually. I'm going to ask him now why he went with both socks before both shoes.

I think this is an issue just as worth going to war over as the butter/bread controversy.

While I usually put my socks on then my shoes, it's mostly a storage thing. I like to let my socks hang up even though I generally don't wear them very long. If for some reason I would store my socks in my shoes - say while trying on clothes or something like that - then I might just handle one foot at a time.

I NEVER put my socks on AFTER my shoes and rarely even forget socks when I leave the house. ;)

oh goodness no! though if there was a closet near my front door, I'd avail myself of it most certainly. No, I ended up putting a mat just to the right of the door where my shoes sit - this catches most of the pine needles that come in on the bottoms of my shoes during the rainy season. I have a TV tray about a foot away and just hang them where the legs cross. TBH, I want both shoes and socks to get as much air as possible since either due to rain or watering in the garden, both often get wet. I don't have much company, but when I do, I already have my socks on. But my homes has a decidedly lived in look ... oh, I've got our next Monty Poll! Huh. Not once in my life have I ever even thought about the idea of putting on one sock, then the corresponding shoe, then the other sock and corresponding shoe…let alone actually do it. Weirdos, man… :ermm:

OK, this makes far more sense... otherwise we're getting into a weird area and/or a fabulous cat-funhouse-zone... ;)

When I was in college several of my classmates and I got into a convo about cel animation (this was back in ~1990) since a few of us (them- I was an illustration major) were animation majors. Most people would draw all the cels, then ink all the cels, then color all the cels and then photograph them. There was one guy who would draw, ink, & color each cel and then move onto the next. So far Armo is that one guy... though I still haven't voted because (of course  ) none of the options I provided in my own poll 100% applies to me.

The only time I will put on one shock than shoe than other sock and shoes is when the ground is so dirty an wet I don’t want my socks to touch the floor, f.e. the dress room of a swimming pool

Just went for an hour power walk through the city (and boy is it humid) and without thinking about it put on one sock and sneaker on my right foot and then the other sock and sneaker on the left. So, for now I vote B, but I think I do both A and B.

yeah, this absolutely makes total sense and is probably truer than the example I came up with, but I think the real idea is a public place where cleanliness is an issue.

Likewise, if I was to take of my shoes and socks at the beach I'm pretty sure I'd deal with one foot at a time as I tried to remove as much sand as possible. Hiking seems another strong candidate for this behavior.

This reminds me of something that's now a vague memory - I think someone did a study once of how people wash in the shower though I can't remember the details clearly. Want to say it was like one side then then other or start at center and work out to the extremities or arms and legs and work in. Guess some people might brush their top teeth before the bottom teeth too. The possibilities are endless and its just a small illustration of the things we do in life without giving them much thought (until some day when we can no longer do them).

First I thought sock -> shoe, sock -> shoe order is ridiculous... But then it hit me - when I put on socks close to the door I probably do it this way. I have no strong memories of that though.
