Used to live in an apartment alone with 25 Mb/s down/up, then I moved closer to the city centre and have to share the shitty "free" internet (included in the rent) with 7 other people. On good days I get 3 Mb/s down. Because I plan to buy a house in the summer I don't want to spend money to install something better in this shithole.

and they are actually in the process of upgrading it to 1Gbit/s (at least internally at the campus, don't know if we get to reach those rates externally).

I guess we can, tested it at our Lab:

That's the fastest internet we can get to my house. The cables under ground is very unstable and the only way to get faster internet is to dig new cables. We also have to restart our router several times a day because of these bad cables. :(

Fast enough for me, it's not like I need to download a film in less than ten minutes or something.

At work :

At home it's probably worse, but I don't need a higher speed, as I've hundreds of unseen movies on my HDD.

Its still pretty bad in India , mine

1Mbps at night and 600Kbps in day

Transfer rate of only around 75-90kbps ......takes me 2.5 Hours to download a 700mb movie.

But still i am quiet happy coz i am managing to download at least 120 movies a month....and watching around 80+ (which is more important).

And since Jan 2011 i have a respectable 1.5TB movie collection, which i feel is pretty good in this area.

I better not even think of comparing it to any of your collections :)

Man, that sucks... we have a router at work that's acting up on regular basis and needs to be restarted once in a while.

My upload speeds were below 1 until recently so things have improved. Getting a "superhub" on Thursday so things might improve more after that.

Man, should've almost gone to The Gathering myself this year with that speed. I was there in 2010 and met Internet People I had talked to on forums since 2003 but never met in real life until then, that was weird. Still buddies though!

Tested it a few times and the speeds are now about three times faster. Download speeds tend to vary between about 40 and 50 and the upload speed is always nearly 5. Miles better than before and certainly better than the old days of my upload speeds being below 1...

I don't understand why we have such a difference between upload and download. It's always been like this. And ping sucks.

Mine must've crapped out while I was out of the house today, cos neither Facebook nor Twitter had updated for two or three hours. It was connecting but not transferring data. I was stuck on dial-up for an hour or so until it decided to sort itself... *weep*

Changed ISP's and it was going slower than before and we've been having problems with it. Turned out my mum's boyfriend had changed a setting to make it slower and anyway they fixed it this morning and I'm getting slightly better download speeds:

I could get 440kb/s max before, I managed to get to 465kb/s earlier. Doubt we can get much better than that here, we're too far away from the exchange :(

Pretty sure it's easy to get faster around here, but internet is included in my rent & it'd be a hassle to get landlord to change package..I find it fast enough.

I'm faster than 50% of Australia and you're 50% faster than Great Britain, and yours is still tons better than mine :(
