Nah weed is much better than alcohol. Most of the people I know get aggressive or have breakdowns when they drink. When people smoke weed, they are just super chill and cause no problems. I usually don't like drinking because it makes me feel sick as well. Plus weed is cheaper.

Alcohol is the biggest date rape drug out there. Plus you can actually die from consuming too much, and it's surprisingly easy to overdose on. Plus it can be addictive.

@Art: In the past cannabis wasn’t thought to be addictive. However, research has shown that it can be addictive, particularly if you have been using it regularly for quite a while. As with other addictive drugs such as cocaine and heroin, you can develop a tolerance to it. This means you have to have more and more to get the same effects. If you stop taking it, you can experience withdrawal symptoms, such as cravings, difficulty sleeping, mood swings, irritability and restlessness.

Cannabis can harm your mental health. Regular use is associated with an increased risk of developing a psychotic illness, such as schizophrenia.Cannabis use has also been shown to increase the risk of a relapse in people who have schizophrenia, and could make existing symptoms worse. Cannabis may affect your fertility. Research done in animals suggests that cannabis can disrupt sperm production in males and ovulation in females.
Ongoing marijuana use has been linked to lung changes, memory loss, and a number of other health problems.

I'll take my beer anyday over a toke.

Recreational (and responsible) use of alcohol is in no way comparable to the grave dangers you're exposing yourself to with weed use. Stop deluding yourself, Art. All that weed is addling your brain. Better stop while you can.

It's funny cause I know this is trolling, but I feel obligated to still reply seriously as people seriously think this.

Yes, taking weed multiple times a day sounds shitty, and it probably is. But, it's a lot worse to do the same with alcohol. Consuming weed responsibly is even more safe than consuming alcohol responsibly. Just from the fact that it's impossible to overdose from weed already makes it more safe.

You may not overdose on weed but are you willing to risk causing permanent brain damage due to your addiction to the stuff?

Here's what The Government of Canada has to say about weed use:
THC is the substance that is responsible for most of the effects of marijuana. THC levels in marijuana today are much higher than they have been in the past. Some of the harmful effects of marijuana can last for hours, days, weeks, months and even years after last use. Regular long-term marijuana use can:

harm concentration,
cause loss of memory,
harm the ability to think and make decisions, and
decrease IQ.

The risks of experiencing these harmful effects increase in those who start using marijuana regularly as a teenager. Youth are especially vulnerable to the health effects of marijuana use, including harmful effects on mental functioning, and psychosis and schizophrenia.

Some people who use marijuana may be at higher risk of developing mental illnesses like psychosis or schizophrenia, including those who:

have a personal or family history of psychosis and/or schizophrenia,
start using marijuana young,
use marijuana daily or a few times a week, and
use marijuana for months or years.
Also,
The heart normally beats about 70 to 80 times a minute, but using marijuana can double that rate. This increased rate can put a lot of stress on the heart. Smoking marijuana can also cause an increased risk of stroke. The risks of heart attack or stroke from marijuana use appear to increase with age and with pre-existing heart or blood circulation problems.

Marijuana smoke irritates the throat and lungs, causes coughing, and is associated with symptoms of bronchitis. Marijuana smoke also contains many of the same cancer-causing materials as tobacco smoke.

Regular marijuana smokers may suffer the same symptoms as tobacco smokers, such as:

chronic (ongoing) cough,
increased phlegm buildup in the throat (mucus),
frequent chest problems, and
greater risk of lung infections.
I ask you again: Is getting high worth risking all this?

I ask you again: Is getting drunk worth risking all this?

We live in a vice-heavy society. It's just that the legal vices are seen as ok, even if they are more dangerous than the illegal ones. How come we never mention other vices like porn addiction?

There are still far less dangers with responsible conumption of alcohol as opposed to recreational weed use. That table you've posted largely shows the dangers of excessive drinking over a long period of time. Having a pint or two during the weekend (again, drinking responsibly) puts you nowhere at the same level of danger as smoking weed a few times a week does, which may eventually have you develop a psychosis or schizophrenia. Then again, I guess you find that risk exciting...

Again, you're doing the same thing. Excessive use of weed is more dangerous than drinking rarely and recreationally. Of course it fucking is. But doing a joint during the weekend seems more safe than drinking during the weekend.

I'm not saying that weed is good, of course it's bad. But it's better than alcohol.

Btw you develop a tolerance for alcohol as well...

Regarding weed, it says specifically that using just "a few times a week" is sufficient to risk developing severe mental health issues. Responsible alcohol consumption has no such adverse effect.
Again, I'll take a few drinks anytime over a toke.

I'm fairly sure that a few times a week of alcohol consumption would count as excessive use.

I was smoking 1-2 cones every night for a while but I've started to cut back so I only smoke on weekends now. It helped me relax and switch my mind off for a bit. Drinking usually does nothing for me and makes me feel sick. Last night I felt ok but like I woke up 30 minutes ago feeling like I needed to be sick and I wasn't and then I started doing some last minute tidying up and now I'm sitting next to my toilet in case I'm sick. Weed never makes you feel sick.

Anything in excess is bad, doesn't matter if it's weed or alcohol or chocolate. Anything harder than weed I will never touch and I never drink to get drunk or smoke to like die. I have a little bit to up my mood and then I've had enough. Last night was the most I've ever drunk I think, but it was slowly over hours and I also had water and food.

No it's I haven't drunk as in

I drink -present tense
I drank -imperfect tense
I have drunk -perfect tense

Drink and drank agree with the person which is I but with the perfect tense you use the past participle of to drink which is drunk

So mighty uses it correctly above as in last night was the most i've ever drunk as this is perfect tense , eg I have ever drunk
ALSO as a participle drunk can also be used as a verbal adjective or as a noun itself as in

He is a convicted drunk driver
I got drunk last night
He is a lifelong drunk

No wonder drinking gets a bad name with that kind of behaviour. You need to learn how to drink responsibly - it's not about getting shitfaced, you know.

Well I just threw up so that was fun...

Normally if I drink I have 1-2 ciders and I'm done. Lying in my bed slowly drinking vodka apparently makes it sneak up on you. As fun and interesting as tonight was I think I'm done with alcohol and going back to weed. So much nicer and doesn't make you sick or feel like crap.

Of course you're gonna get sick if you sip vodka like it's water. You need to stay within your limits, learn responsible drinking - ask your dad for advice.

I don't know where you're getting this irresponsible drinking thing from. I do not drink heavily. I don't drink often. I rarely have more than one drink when I drink. I was drinking vodka and coke, and water as well, over 8 hours. My friend and I were just talking and laughing and chilling and drinking. Ok maybe we drank too much but it was not irresponsible drinking.

When you're constantly falling over, when you can't feel your face or your legs, when you're collapsing all over the place, yeah, that should tell you that you're not drinking very responsibly. Then going out for more booze is not a very bright idea unless you aim to spend hours praying over the toilet bowl. Also, drinking vodka like it's water will get you sick, but the again it's just deserts for drinking to excess, if you ask me. Drink in moderation and ditch the weed, I say.

Christmas time. My mother came from Guatemala to visit, and we've been visiting the whole city, introducing all my friends to my mother. It's kinda weird and something awkward, but at this point I'm pretty drunk already. So at least I've got that going for me, which is nice.

1-2 cones a day is not that bad. It was only for a while because I was having panic attacks and it was the only thing that would calm me down. We drank 2 nights in a row and it's the first time I've ever actually been drunk. I also occasionally have chocolate or McDonald binges. They're not good for me, but I don't do them often enough for it to really matter. I think of excess like my brother; every time he drinks he drinks to throw up and pass out. I'm 26 and I've thrown up twice in my life from drinking. I hardly think I'm drinking to excess. It's our holidays, it's been a very difficult year, we just want to let loose for a while.
