Announcement of absence

#521

Post by AdamH » April 9th, 2017, 7:43 pm

I'm going to Jersey Monday-Saturday so likely I won't be online at all on the forum. Flight at 7:10am tomorrow. Going to Guernsey for a day-trip too on Tuesday.

I'm going to have to take a break from the forum for a while. If anything is needed then send me a message on icheckmovies.com (I get messages on there sent to my email so I will see it straight away) or hopefully the email option in my profile will work.

I am trying to find a permanent job at the moment and it's very urgent and I've been spending so much time online on forums etc. that I need to do something to avoid as many distractions as possible.

Feel free to contact me and I will log in any time if anything is needed.

Good luck mate. Hope you'll still check into Skype though. :P
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Thanks, I could've used that warning a little earlier. Every step of the way something went wrong, yet never bad enough to cancel the next step or the trip.

Starting tomorrow I'll be offline for about two weeks. I'm on vacation and I doubt I'll be checking in on the camping WiFi. Don't expect me to at least. So don't expect any moderating jobs etc... from me as well.

This evening I'll post the coming three FotWs and put them all in the header.

You could just create the posts and offload the job of posting to another user instead of making them at the same time

Do you volunteer?

The only problem thing that remains is updating the header. Only Lauren, Adam and I can do that. For some reasons forum-moderators can't even update it.
Since Lauren and Adam are not active every day, I always do that. But you can PM one of them and it will probably be updated within a few days.

Alright, good to know.

Armoreska, shall we do it like this then? I'll post one tonight and send you the next two in docx-files. When you post them, just send a PM to Lauren or Adam.

Nice, I was in The Vosges this summer as well. I was at a camping in Barbey-Seroux, near Gérardmer. We had some nice hikes there.

That's a funny coincidence. We rented a house at the outskirts of Gérardmer.

Nice!
One advice: don't go hiking around the lake like most people do. Too busy and it gets boring soon. Buy a walking map and make your own plan. There are several nice walks in the neighborhood of the lake. For example in the east-side corner of the lake, you can climb up along a little stream to Cascade de Mérelle and go further up to Tour de Mérelle for the view. There are some nice walks around Lac de Longemer as well. If you go a little further to the heights, best go towards Le Hohneck and also north of Col de la Schlucht east of the D61. We walked parts of the Haut-Rihn there (called GR-5 on walking maps). Really beautiful there.

I go to Gerardmer each winter.
Nice people, beautiful places, and walking/ice-skating on the frozen lake is so much fun.
Plus there is of course the Film Festival which is one of the two film festivals I never miss.

We did the hike to the Cascade de Mérelle and further up to Tour de Mérelle the first day. Also did a hike from La Bonhemme to the Tête de Faux. Those were quite from boring (thankfully), they were pretty steep and the path was rocky at times.

Not like I'm extremely active those days, but just in case someone needs me, for the World Cup for instance: I'll be on holidays till Wednesday. Won't look here very often.

Enjoy! (On the opposite side of the spectrum, I'll probably have a bit more forum/movie time as I have the two days after Christmas off, with finally nothing else I need to do).

It took me quite a long time to get my first smartphone, I missed the moment when the low to mid budget ones became quite decent. I'll never turn back, but I still miss my w300i's design.

We have a landline, but I hadn't pick up that phone in more than 5 years or so. I use it sometimes though.
