I'm interested in this. I wanted to go on the 2015 one but I only found out at the last minute (predominantly using a different forum at the time). Would the smart thing for me to do be to book in Nopros' apartment building. Or Nopros are you subletting the extra bedrooms? What kind of activities are you doing? I like boat trips and archaeology and swimming, so Malta is good looking. Will you be doing any film watchings in the evenings?
Nopros knows this better than me, but he and I are looking for another place to live. Mainly because we want a bedroom each. It was one bedroom (two single beds) available in the penthouse-apartment because of that. Dunno if it’s still available.matthewscott8 wrote: ↑September 25th, 2018, 10:10 am I'm interested in this. I’d love me a boat trip. Maybe visiting one of the caves?
Edit: and please join us

A couple of us have already shown interest in visiting https://www.smithsonianmag.com/travel/m ... 180963397/
Be sure to make a reservation in time though! Only a limited amount of people are allowed inside every day and during the good months it's almost always sold outjvv wrote: ↑September 25th, 2018, 12:54 pmA couple of us have already shown interest in visiting https://www.smithsonianmag.com/travel/m ... 180963397/

Make sure you go to a Malta football match if they are playing. Then have a nice, relaxing walk back to where you are staying.

Like 72 mentioned, him and I will be looking for another place while we can use the penthouse as a place to meet up for watching movies and such. 72 and I are looking at a few different alternatives, will come back to you if we have a spare room or not.

Last year our group ended up visiting Valletta for the film festival, walked around in Mdina, went to Gozo for a swim in the cave (beware of jellyfish) and Ggantija Temples, the Hagar Qim Temples and went for a WC qualifier match. But most important of all, had a lot of fun! We'll for sure try to watch some movies during our stay.
Some of us just made a reservation for Tuesday, May 7 at 15:00. So, if you want to go that might be a good time.Chilton wrote: ↑September 25th, 2018, 12:57 pmBe sure to make a reservation in time though! Who all is confirmed to be going?
To Malta or the cave? I updated the OP with two more confirmed participants, Burneyfan and Metaller.
Burneyfan, ormazd and Jvv booked the cave at 1500. 72 and I at 1400.

I was talking about Malta.
I booked the cave @1500 as well.

Okay, OP should be properly updated now, haven't heard anything from the others who said they were interested in joining. We're a group of nine so far.

They've not updated their pages yet, but Valletta International Visual Arts Festival should be while we're there, looks interesting. Plus, Valletta is very nice.

Hi!
Is there a space for one more? I'm game.

Of course!
Great.
Nopros, you're the Chief Party Officer, right? I'll need to be briefed on where to seek accommodation and tickets and stuff. Thanks.

I try to administrate some of the stuff, yes. I’ll hit you up with a pm when I come home later this evening.
If Nathan and HVM want to send me their Skype I could invite them to our Skype convo for easier planning, and maybe even watch a couple of bad movies with the rest of us.
(72 also invited if he gets around to making a skype account..

Gotta make a skype acct first.
Hi! (This turned out to be quite a draining week...)
First, I haven't used Skype in like 10 years... but I'm not strictly against it...
Second, I hear a +1 is all right. I'll most likely be coming with a friend of mine, Veronica.
We haven't booked anything yet but it looks like the 3th-11th would suit us the best. There is a place near to where the majority of attendees are staying that looks really nice.
(I'm coming no matter what... I hope it's all been booked by next week...)

Sounds great HVM. Looking forward to seeing some new faces.

I love traveling and I love meeting people off the boards (met a couple from IMDB and some other places in the past), but it's not in the cards right now. Never been to Malta though; seems like a cool place and you all seemed to have a good meetup last out.

Next time, Peep. Next time.

Plane, bed, cave booked.

May 3rd-11th, no +1 (we're going to Prague instead
)
All is left is to book the bookend mini-vacations and sign-up for Skype...

Well, update from an hour ago is that our company team retreat has been moved from April to May... and it looks like it will happen over the same week (May 5-12) as the Malta trip, so that's a bummer... would have really liked to visit the country and meet you all.Fergenaprido wrote: ↑August 30th, 2018, 4:55 pm Just seeing this now. Didn't manage to make it to Malta on my Eurotrip this summer, so stopping by next summer is enticing. It's way too soon for me to plan with any certainty, though, as I have no idea what work will be like next May (or even what job I'll have), so I'll bide my time in the 'interested' pool for now.
Still planning to be in Europe this summer again, though, so maybe I'll cross paths with a few of you in June/July.
So, I finally booked flights and an AirBnB. I'll be staying from the 4th til the 11th.
Looking forward to seeing y'all (again).

I would really have enjoyed this, but I won't be able to get away from work, I'm afraid. The period is rather tense, so my employers wouldn't understand my going away, even for a short while... I hope you all have a great time !!Nopros wrote: ↑May 21st, 2018, 6:31 pmWe really had a lot of fun! It sure looks like last time was really fun.Would be awesome if you could join, even just for a weekend.
Thank you, Cinephage! Next time.
72a and I are going to Rome today, see the rest of you in Malta soon.
