Hi all. After last time’s success, we’re again planning a forum trip to Malta! Last we went there was in 2015, and I think I speak for everyone when I’m saying we had a blast. Some of us that went to Malta also went to Croatia in 2016, but we simply forgot to invite the rest of the forum, shame on us! We’re now making up for it by inviting you all to this trip, which I’m sure will be a wonderful holiday. After all, you haven’t planned anything else for 2019 have you? What better use of a holiday than spending it with some very nice movie buffs? We're from different countries, and our age range spans from early 20s to early 60s.

We consist of a core group that has been chatting on, and watching movies on Skype since 2011 (I think?). If I remember correctly it started out with only AdamH and Mightsparks trying to complete some of the IMDb-lists back in 2010. Because some of the turkish movies being so horrible (Hababam), they needed someone to watch them with. (Feel free to correct me if I remember it wrong). The group evolved and since then the group has watched a whopping 657 bad movies together!

Here’s the forum thread for 2015 http://forum.icmforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1940&1/ . I think we will put up a discord chat sometime for more in depth planning. But as of now we’re looking to go some time in early May.

We can use that as party central. There are a lot of nice rooms in the same duplex, if anyone else want to stay really close by.

I saw this thread yesterday and it sounds like a lot of fun, but between $2,000 in airfares and the difficulties of getting time off work mid-year, it's not something that I can realistically commit to at the moment. By the way, I see that you haven't enticed your brother into coming along yet. I guess he's too busy watching movies for all the Official Challenges these days. ;)

Yeah. Unfortunately Malta is a long way away from Australia. Would be cool to organise something like this for us forum users that live in the southern hemisphere. Maybe some day.

Between the sol problem of distance/cost and joachimt life problem, I'm likely to pass. But it sounds really fun.

The apartment is rented from 2. to 9th of may, but I'm sure that like last time not all of us will be in Malta on the exact same dates. I'm thinking of staying a bit longer, but not entirely sure yet. We'll have to see what flights are best in due time.

Why don't you guys spend your summer holidays on the beautiful beaches of the Dutch west coast?

The last Malta holiday was fantastic. If nothing unusual happens until then, I sure plan to be there again.

Very understandable that it's hard joining such a trip with kids etc. We'll think of you. Malta aint that far from the Netherlands compared to the people travelling from the US though.

Nice! I'm glad people are interested. I can see the problems with flying from the us, it's a long trip. But both Gary and burneyfan are flying from the states, so it is possible.

Been to Malta once before, really liked the island. Was planning on going back so this thing is a great «excuse» to do so.
The more the merrier though, would be cool to have some more newbies (like me) on this trip

If my memory serves me right it’s rather cheap in Malta as well. So whatever you loose in expensive airtickets you’re bound to make up for it in food and drinks
(If not, there’s always possibilities...)

So.. I'm looking at airline tickets, and the most affordable option arrives in Malta at almost 1:00 am. Is there viable public transportation from the airport to Sliema at that time?

I have never used public transportation in Malta (St. Gloede might know), so dunno how often it goes/price etc, but you can book a taxi online for 20€.

Just seeing this now. Didn't manage to make it to Malta on my Eurotrip this summer, so stopping by next summer is enticing. It's way too soon for me to plan with any certainty, though, as I have no idea what work will be like next May (or even what job I'll have), so I'll bide my time in the 'interested' pool for now.

When we were there the first time around we used ecabs a lot for transport. They were reliable and quite easy to use and cheaper than the official taxis. https://www.ecabs.com.mt/
