Who is this Erich Auerbach and why should I know about him?funkybusiness on Jan 14 2018, 06:25:43 PM wrote:Oh, sorry, memetic content.
he wrote Mimesis: The Representation of Reality in Western Literature, a defining work of literary criticism. he also wrote a pretty groovy little/known book titled Dante: Poet of the Secular World which more people should read but I also think more people be into Dante in general soCarmel1379 on Jan 14 2018, 06:34:22 PM wrote:Who is this Erich Auerbach and why should I know about him?funkybusiness on Jan 14 2018, 06:25:43 PM wrote:Oh, sorry, memetic content.
"literary criticism" really isn't something that I have the time to concern myself with right now or within the next few years, even if I am interested in it. But thanks for mentioning, I'll look out for it sometime, then. And Dante's Divina Commedia is obviously something that I have to read at a certain point in my life, so that Auerbach book might be helpful when I embark to Inferno and beyond. I got it from twitter, but the original post seems like it’s from a 4chan-type board, but I’ve never seen or used okcupid before. The post is written in a way such that it’s on the perfect line between being either sincere or parodic, you can take both readings simultaneously and it’s still hilarious and sad.xianjiro on Jan 14 2018, 08:38:11 PM wrote:From OKCupid, right?
