I read all the publications because I was also publishing papers in math & physics at the time. It was purely academic and turned into a lucky break.
I read up on Bitcoin around the time it became famous (I dunno, five years ago?). I didn't really understand how it was supposed to work. I understand the concept of the math and the blockchain, but I didn't understand how it was supposed to function as a currency, so I stayed away. I read comments about how it was "inflation proof" and could only go up in value, so the sooner you got into it the better. That set off all kinds of alarm bells with me, a currency that can only increase in value is not a currency but a Ponzi Scheme. Those comments seemed to die out a few years ago when it collapsed, but I'm still staying away from it.

My opinion on BTC.

It's okay to invest in BTC but please do it proportionally. I'm working in the financial markets, more specificly with options and warrants thus my conversations with friends often lead us to investments. BTC is often brought up by friends who haven't gotten a lot of experience and more often than not got into investing due to BTC. My initial question is how much % they are invested into cryptocurrency and it's often really worrying.

Young people should be taking risks on the market but having money invested in cryptocurrency that you can't afford to lose is reckless. My advice for people who are looking into investing in crypto or are already invested in it is that they should really be careful and only put money into crypto if you won't be worse off without it if you lose it one day. If you got 300K invested, your house has been paid off and you don't have kids and no further plans then sure, put 10% in crypto and see what happens, you could get rich and buy yourself a Lambo or you could lose it and you won't eat anything less. If you are 20 and you got your first paycheck and hear from other friends that you should really go all in into crypto then you're doing something wrong. There's nothing stopping BTC from going broke tomorrow, it's not regulated and if people start doing something similar to a bankrun, BTC would lose all its value. Markets have a safety system which controls stocks from crashing (and even then it's still a risk), someone could see a fault in BTC code or an exploit and the currency would go bankrupt.
I saved Latin, what did you ever do ?

Very good example and probably my favourite. Try also À nous la liberté. And Los supervivientes for a very different approach to the subject as seen from an aristocratic point of view.

I am very lucky. I was in grad school in 2011. Bitcoin was this small unknown thing. It was fun. I was like why not. I ended up with a lot. Then life came (dissertation/married/kids/etc.) and I forgot(ish) about them.

I don't have to work anymore. But my job is "easy" and pays very well. So I continue to work.

I could FIRE, but for now ill just keep "Fuck You Money"
i sold my bitcoin way too early, and like so many others there's a new part of my abdomen getting punched every time i hear the new high it's hit.

i have been steadily growing my account these days scalping and swinging large caps and with any luck i can at least become a mere part-time wage slave before i'm 40.
