And then there's this:
Yes Abby, being women is the reason why they're getting so much stick for their celebrations.

A men’s team wouldn’t have celebrated like that the last 8-10 goals so no.Abby Wambach wrote:You would never say this about a men’s team
Exactly what I was thinking about, though it being in Brazil also does matter there.Lonewolf2003 wrote: ↑June 14th, 2019, 8:16 am Even the Germans showed more humility against Brasil in 2014.

That's not humility for me, I think it's even more humiliating if you stop making an effort because you think your opponent is not worth it.Lonewolf2003 wrote: ↑June 14th, 2019, 8:16 am Even the Germans showed more humility against Brasil in 2014.
The issue is not the goals (of course they should score every goal they can, this is a competition), the issue is the over-the-top celebrating of them.max-scl wrote: ↑June 14th, 2019, 6:07 pmThat's not humility for me, I think it's even more humiliating if you stop making an effort because you think your opponent is not worth it.Lonewolf2003 wrote: ↑June 14th, 2019, 8:16 am Even the Germans showed more humility against Brasil in 2014.
I understand if you slow down and stop chasing every ball to not get injured or tired after so many goals, but you should never stop competing, so for me, the USA girls are right and the critics are wrong.
The critique is not about continuing trying to score, that's the goal of the game after all, but about the over the top celebrating.max-scl wrote: ↑June 14th, 2019, 6:07 pmThat's not humility for me, I think it's even more humiliating if you stop making an effort because you think your opponent is not worth it.Lonewolf2003 wrote: ↑June 14th, 2019, 8:16 am Even the Germans showed more humility against Brasil in 2014.
