Isn't posting mindless and silly mantra without ever thinking for yourself and/or being honest getting tiresome?

Suggesting, say, a higher tax rate, is only hypocritical if you would like to be exempt from the higher tax rate. Surely you can comprehend that. Why are you always so deceitful and dishonest?

I have no idea what SG is taking about. I was only asking a question if her redistribution included her wealth not other peoples money. Imagine being a Democrat Bernie fan and seeing him beaten by a senile old has been. Then a very left wing Trillion dollar package was being held up by Schumer and Pelosi who are clearly on the right wing compared to Trump who is more left than them. How can anyone support the right wing Democrats if you see Trump is more on the left than these people hmm.?

Biden allegedly raped only 7 women.

And he wants only 10M to lack health insurance.

That's why he is a much better candidate than Trump.

But for some reason 50 % of population don't vote? How irresponsible!

Are you not aware that he is still a senator and one of the more influential voices in US politics? You're getting on the case of a man who is trying his damnedest to force through a little bit of extra money for people who are barely able to stick their heads above water, financially. C'mon, man.

I mean, he's not running on the promise of firing as many competent people from public office as possible the way that Trump did. Which seems really important, in light of a pandemic where our unpreparedness is going to make the end results much, much worse.

Saying that Joe Biden is "popular" with most of us because virtually 100% of sane people prefer him over Trump is roughly akin to saying the flu is popular now because it's not as bad as COVID-19. Yeah, I fucking want the flu.

I don't, which is why I've had him on ignore for almost 2 years. But people re-post his shit constantly so I imagine I still see most of his stupidest crap. I assume he probably believes the current pandemic is all fake news? Haven't seen him post on the thread dedicated to it so maybe this is one of the rare cases where he's living in the sane, adult world.

In any case I don't have much to add to the political discussion and it's all too depressing - and not just because of the troll. I think I'm out of this thread for a while, maybe until things get back to "normal" if they ever do (seems highly unlikely at this point).

Turns out no one believes the accusation. Like, I get it if it came out of nowhere, but Biden has a history of feeling up women and smelling their hair. It broke my heart when it happened to Michael Gira. The accuser even said his life shouldn't be ruined over it though so I didn't boycott him but I decided to not buy his music anymore. There's also these.

I don't think I wanna associate myself with Dems anymore tbh. If this means I am not a feminist then I'll gladly not call myself a mainstream one. I'll stick with reading books like the second sex and gender trouble which I ordered on my own and associate myself with anarchist-syndalicalists and MLs

Sorry for contributing to your troll-exposure, OldAle. Take care and yes, this might not be the happiest thread for a while (if ever)

Re: Cipp. If anything he is more "aware" now. He only posts short dishonest one-liners and mantras. I'm not sure what he is getting out of it except a laugh - or the hope that he can appeal to a lurker or two. For all the jokes about Art being a bot, Cipp may just be revealed to be one.

Why even bother labeling yourself as a feminist? Just a bunch of post-modernism, liberalism or puritanical conservatism.

I still want to do that because I believe that women and other minorities are being fucked over by the system and patriarchy. I wanna look deeper into it so I bought some feminist and queer theory yesterday. I also believe that the few problems men have can be fixed with feminism as well, and fixing these problems with men will make many of them less toxic, and as a result will help everyone.

I've seen the term pop feminist flying around these days which is probably what a lot of dems are considered. Ones that are all aesthetics and nothing about the actual theory behind it.

No he didn't. The House has yet to pass it, and he has yet to sign the legislation. So he hasn't done squat yet. And Denmark just pumped the equivalent of $2.5 trillion dollars into their economy.

Just came back from my local capitalist system supermarket her in the US. Empty shelves all over the place. No flour, no yeast, no sugar, no toilet paper, no bleach... No ramen noodles(!). The free market system doesn't work, clearly.

Just a few comments on the above:

Art: You're Canadian, why would you feel any need what so ever to associate with the Democrats in the US, particularly given your politics?

Art: Pop Feminism is more of a reference to thin, popularized feminism that dumbs down the conversation, misses the bigger picture and/or essentially grabs slogans/baseline ideas and misappropriates them, your issue above is more specifically with Liberal Feminism (and "Neoliberal Feminism") and the often associated "Weaponized (Liberal) Identity Politics" aimed at disrupting political progress, stopping social policies that help the people, etc. essentially very deceptive distraction tactics to get people to look away from real issues and care about women CEOs or how awesome it is that the person shipping your job overseas is of a minority background.

Dolwphin: Feminism is a massive umbrella term encompassing essentially every ideology/philosophy looking at restructuring gender hierarchies. So yeah, there will be countless contradictory we (and some pretty vile shit) under that label. However, as someone who I believe considers himself a Socialist it would be the same as asking why you would call yourself that considering UK Labour under Tony Blair, or Stalin, or Nazis, or North Korea, etc. If you wish to, say, end socially enforced gender roles (or something more extensive) that is usually labelled as feminism - though you can of course use any term for it.

I cared about the demand because they had the best chance of changing Canada. If america became left of Canada and started implementing stuff like no turion and student debt, then Canada will look like imbeciles if they don't incorporate those same policies.

It kind of seems like semantics tbh. I assumed it was called pop feminism because the reputation of pop music is that it's digestible to the masses by being very surface level and accessible. Like non-top 40 pop music, there is obviously some great and deeper stuff into it, and I will love to explore that.

Give me a few months to a year of reading theory and I hope I'll be a lot smarter with this stuff.

This is why I've been leftist. They always look down at their workforce as dispensable. In every job I've ever worked for I've seen the looks in the long-time worker's eyes when they mentioned how much of a family they are. But when the shit hits the fan, they are ready to crack the whip while doing barely nothing to protect our lives.

The Democrats aren't a leftist party. Not by any stretch. But they are closer to the left than Republicans.

It’s not the free market, they have plenty of everything, it’s just the idiots clearing it off the shelves before it can be reloaded. There is no actual shortage. But a massive increase in demand, unjustified, mean it’s hard to keep shelves full. In uk we have reduced shop open hours and said stop the panic and only allow limited items of each thing to be bought. What I do, now working from home, is to go as early in morning as I can to shops after they have refilled shelves as I can. The House will pass the bill, is it higher that 2 trillion, anyway it’s big boost to economy.

Hillary was just a run of the mill slimeball politician. A clear majority also voted for her over Trump. Not sure what your point is.
