It's one of the most redundant, repetitive lyrics I've ever heard. You can basically boil down the entire song to:

Because of mad security at my job (not related to the pandemic) I have to tap in & out with my work ID constantly ( facilities, work spaces, research labs, and my office among other places)... the blasted thing just somehow deactivated itself (even though I've used it 20 times this morning already) meaning I can't go anywhere, even the loo, since I'll be locked out of my office.
I just emailed the ID office (because they're working remotely these days) and... they won't reactivate my ID unless a submit a passport photo first. So, yeah, .... I've been at this job for 13 years and never had this happen before and I can't perform my job without this ID. Maybe I should go home. It's like -5 F outside anyway today.

In late October I discovered a new gym was opening up downstairs from me (2-3 min walk) in late November so I was excited to join and work out for the next 3 months and get into a routine before Uni started on 1 March. Late Nov came around and they said mid December. Mid Dec rolls around and they early 2021. In January they announced an opening date of Feb 3. And now... 1 March. Or who knows, 2022 or next century perhaps.

I have a nice arthritis-friendly can opener and now they've taken to making cans can-opener proof, putting pull-up rings on them instead.

In the good old days about 15 years ago I wrote an Hopkins-parody ode to little plastic hangers on new pairs of socks with the lines

has yet managed to make socks seniorproof.

Well, I can see that pull-tabs on cans is more convenient for the vast majority of people. I hadn't realized that they present a challenge for arthritic people (my own arthritis is only occasionally an issue with opening things). I'm guessing someone will come up with a gizmo that can flip up the pull-tab , "hook it" and pull it open, just like we see all those jar lid openers. But yes, it absolutely sucks when you can't open a can without going through some serious pain, assuming there's enough strength left to get the job done.

My hands struggle with a can opener so I always get pull tops, but I have to use a spoon to open them because they hurt my fingers. If my nails are long enough I can use them as well, but they usually aren’t.
