Managed to grab a couple hours of afternoon nap time which helps a lot, so I'm feeling a bit better than earlier. My nervous system has quieted down so that it's all tolerable again.

Hope everyone gets relief from their troubles real soon!

well, except, maybe, puking in the middle of living room and passing out on the sofa (please note, I said nothing about chores which implies they don't get done either) :P

The only thing worse than having a piece of music run through your head that you don't like or that brings up negative associations, is to have a piece of music running through your head that is impossible to identify. Since yesterday I've had what I think are the first four notes of something stuck and I'm trying to figure it out. I THINK it's from a British TV show, probably from the 70s-90s, but that is all that comes to mind. Since I haven't seen all that much British TV - and it seems like probably a drama show judging from the wisp of musical memory - it shouldn't be that hard to figure out. But I could be totally wrong about the source of the music so...

I once went to a weekend silent retreat and was gonna do some journaling about a heavy matter. About 20 min after the silence began
"Always look on the bright side of life" came into my head and wouldn't leave.

I'm not sure where else to post this, so I'm opting for this thread.

I just thought I should highlight a glitch that I've encountered the last couple of times I've attempted to import my latest ratings to ICM from IMDb. I keep getting the following:

Error 413 request entry too large

nginx/1.19.10

Anybody else noticed this of late? I was just wondering whether it might be something that's off with my laptop or whether it's a wider ICM issue...
That's all, folks!

I got the same thing, Roger. I will post about it on the official forum (it really needs to go there once we confirm more than one person is having the issue). In the future, don't hesitate to ask if others are having similar problems in the bug thread here viewtopic.php?p=1148#p1148

However, to get something done about bugs, the best course of action is to create a new topic at https://discuss.icheckmovies.com/c/bugs

BTW, 9 hours ago Marijn said, "Ah crap, my bad. Will fix today" so I expect he's working on it. (Just tried and still getting the same error.)

A light I had never seen on my keyboard started flashing red so I figured the batteries were low. Replaced them and now I can’t reconnect the keyboard. There’s no on button, the wireless receiver has no buttons and connects fine, the separate numeric keypad is working fine, but the main keyboard won’t do anything. Technology is so frustrating sometimes :’(

One of our neighborhood ice cream vendors continues to use Christmas carols to attract customers. What did someone say about not getting a song out of the head? It's May and over 80. I don't find Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer in the brain helpful. :(

What the hell has been happening to Amazon Prime in recent weeks? It's hemorrhaging movies right and left.

I already lost a solid chunk of my queue in recent weeks, and I was down to about 62 movies. Tonight, I logged on and TEN of those 62 had died since I last looked. They're all becoming films requiring a channel subscription or an extra fee. Wow.

I just went to the instantwatcher.com site, and its search engine says Amazon has 17381 movies. The last time I checked, I think it was 23,000+.

Another reason Criterion is the best streaming service. They're very clear about films leaving the Channel. I've essentially given up on Prime Video except for renting films.

It’s still a huge collection compared to Prime here. We’ve got less than 2k movies. My current watchlist is three movies long.

Well, the streaming wars are heating up - everyone needs content, so unless they are being paid handsomely for something, they are loathe to let it appear on the competition. I'm guessing a lot of rights to the material were negotiated at the same time and those rights have begun to expire.

I haven't seen anything else in the press that would suggest other problems between content providers and Amazon, but there could be something brewing. It's always possible providers didn't like a change in Amazon's terms.

It may also be that whatever Amazon is calling it's channel-like co-hosting model is looking better to streamers, so basically Amazon is just a host for other streaming specialists. I've been noticing this pop up more frequently on JustWatch.

Will be interesting to see if it continues, for how long, and what kind of content they continue to host. However, it's pretty clear everyone is silo-ing off their content as the whole industry reorganizes. I'm just waiting to see which of the big providers gives in first and decides "go it alone" isn't working like they hoped.

Oh, and don't forget, content production basically came to a stand-still for a year though content consumption increased dramatically.

I think Amazon lost Terence Davies' "Deep Blue Sea" in just the time since I posted the above. One more down.

The top tier of my Amazon queue is looking pretty feeble now: Charade, Death Proof, Zama, Knives Out, I Saw the Devil, Robin Hood (1922), Wuthering Heights (1939), Watermelon Man, The Train, Hearts of the World, The Revolutionary, Sparrows, The Marriage Circle, Red Hook Summer, Born to Win, Happy People: A Year in the Taiga, Blind Husbands (it may be a bad edit), The Look of Silence, High-Rise, One Night in Miami, The Pleasure Garden, The Devil Bat, Rosalie Goes Shopping, Burning, Death & the Maiden, City of Hope, Judy.

Streaming is turning into cable TV all over again. To get access to what you want to see you'll have to pay over $100/month and still have to pay for a lot of crap you don't want.

I suppose that's possible...but I really have been noticing countless films either leaving Amazon or adding an extra charge over the past couple of months. I was especially disappointed to lose "An Elephant Sitting Still," because it was near the top of my queue.

Wow. Another night of shocking Amazon Prime carnage. I had 62 films in my queue, and I discovered TWENTY-TWO of those 62 died since YESTERDAY. Over a third gone! Mostly shifting to a subscription EPIX channel.

I actually had planned to watch "Face/Off" tonight, and it's one of the lost films. Others I lost, of varying importance: Iphigenia, The Love of Sunya, Hearts of the World, Born to Win, Three in the Attic, Stella Maris, Within Our Gates, Guess What We Learned in School?, Sinful Davey, Take It All, Microbe & Gasoline, The Mark of Zorro, Blind Husbands, True Heart Susie, The Black Pirate, Pocket Money (aka Small Change), The Iron Mask, Sparrows, Joan the Woman, The Marriage Circle, Record City. You'd think the rights for silent films wouldn't be too contested and yet....

Yea, piracy is gonna be on the rise again because people are not gonna spend like $100 a month, reminiscent of those "cable bundle deals" from before.

My queue is down to 46 films, even after I lowered the bar and added a stack of iffy titles. With the latest purge, I lost the Lon Chaney silent "Shadows."
