And it seemed like you would stick around, but apparently not.

I'm back! I just had computer issues for a long time and was going through some health stuff. I kept thinking "I'll get back on the forum eventually," but I always procrastinated. I passed 3000 checks today and decided it was as good a time as any to return.

I also get emails when I receive a PM here - but I admit, I probably turned that setting on

In the header above, click on your user name (right side) and then "User Control Panel". Next "Board preferences" and then "Edit notification options". This brings up a list of notifications (we see them on here) and email. So putting a check in the box for email on "Someone sends you a private message" should take care of it.

I know it's unpopular, but whenever I sign up for a forum or website, I always go through the options to see what it can and can't do. And I also want to make sure to not allow them to spam me.

Are two weeks for a user to be inactive really so uncommon?
I don't know, I need a break from time to time, sometimes for months. I never announce it.

Agreed though my concern is he's in an area with plenty CoV roaming around. I think the fact his account was active today here though decreases the concern. I do remember, from time to time, he feels less communicative for whatever reasons, so it might not be the right time for a bunch of PMs.

It's more the fact that he seems to have a taken a sabbatical both from the forum and watching movies.

BTW, I did a check on another user recently who hadn't been active in a while. The user browses privately or whatever we call it here and so activity doesn't show but when I searched, it has been a while since a post had been made or a movie checked.

I think it's good that we look out for each other.

Yes that was it mostly, though depression brought on by less-than-stellar election results, continuing political madness, and several members of my family coming down with COVID (all recovering apparently) while others continue to deny that it's any big deal... and just general alone-ness/loneliness and feelings of despondency and worthlessness. Feeling that the world is ending, and nobody cares or wants to do anything about it, including me. In other words par for the OldAle course. Thanks for the thoughts in any case guys, it actually does mean something to someone with very few contacts in the "real" world.

Good to see you back, friend. Glad you didn't lose anyone to COVID. My mom had a brutal experience with it the last two weeks, but fortunately I was able to take care of her despite being sick myself.

He is extremely active for a few weeks, sets goals and then loses interest.

From posts I've seen on all these forums he talks a lot about his personal problems, just hoping he's doing okay.
