Celebrating the forum

#1

Post by joachimt » February 16th, 2015, 8:04 pm

Today I made my 10,000th post on this forum. After giving it some trial period, I think I'll stick around a little longer, because I'm starting to like this place. :P

Seriously, I just want to take a moment to thank Lauren and Adam for starting this forum and everyone else who contributes to this place. Without this forum my movie-watching-life wouldn't be the same. This forum helped me find lots of rarities I wouldn't ever had found otherwise. I love this place full of people willing to help each other: finding movies, translating, subbing, ripping, help with lists, statistics, fun games, etc... Lots of members with different qualities, together creating a place full of knowledge and skills. I hope we'll never die!!

So thanks to everyone contributing to this place!!

A couple of days ago I noticed I had crossed the 1,000 mark. Someday I will reach the 10,000 too. This forum rocks!

I reached 10,000 posts the other day although that's only because of the Malcolm in the Middle watch spree. :whistling:

It's great that we have the forum. Started in May 2011 and still going as strong as ever. It's really cool that we've had all these meet-ups and now we have the Malta meet-up in June. Nice little community we've managed to develop here. I wonder what the forum will be like in ten years time...

Good job everyone. Go us!
I was a bit hesitant to start posting here - because I already thought I was spending too much time on other movie sites instead of watching movies, and because I didn't think I was that into lists - and now this is actually my #1 movie forum (sorry FG3) and I feel so at home that I'm going on vacation with some folks here that I never met before in my life. :D

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Yep...
It's a great forum and the proof (as far as I am concerned) is that it's the first time in my life that I've ever been active on an online forum or any other internet social platform to be honest.
Hoping to meet some of you in person one day.
Cheers to everybody!

I can still remember nervously posting an introduction on the forum (I'm a bit shy) a few years ago, and now, I don't know what I'd do without the place. I've met some incredible, wonderful people (online AND in person!), and learned so much about so many amazing films from the people who post here -- it's been such a resource, both cinematically and personally. Thank you to everyone who keeps this site going. (l)

Same here. Only lurking a bit on the KG-forum, but apart from that, this is my one and only forum! :)

I'd been too shy to ever start a thread on a forum before, and too shy to even speak to people online before the first Facebook group, so the forum has actually been a massive help in getting me to come out of my shell and function IRL social situations. Films had also always been a personal thing for me, so I'd never discussed them with anyone else and even though we need a bigger horror mafia :whistling: it's nice to have somewhere familiar to go to talk about them (as well as having people who understand how amazing lists and spreadsheets are). Also nice to have somewhere to blow off steam with people who aren't part of my 'real' life.

Real life is getting busier and busier for me, so the forum is becoming less of an importance now, but it's been such a huge thing in my life over the last few years I couldn't really imagine life without it. So thanks for all the nice words everyone :)

Count me as another one where this is my only forum. I haven't really gone on any other forums since I was a kid. Thanks and congratulations to everyone who's made this place possible!

We didn't have internet forums when I was a kid and I never signed up for one, but like some others this is the only one I've every signed up for and participated in. It's a great community and, for the most part, civil.

Get it while it's a still number due to me watching stuff that's not on IMDb.
