One of the best matches I've ever seen at the Crucible; a true classic. Higgins a strong favourite to win it now; Kyren Wilson is a good player, but can't see him getting past the semi-finals.

Another nailbiter at the Crucible; Hawkins and Williams are tied 15-15 (best of 33)

What a match that was. Both players missing sitters in the last couple of frames. Nowhere else can you see players missing the easiest of shots and collapsing from the pressure; only at the Crucible. What would be a routine shot in practice becomes challenging in the last moments of a World Championship semi-final.

2 40+ year olds in the final; both legends of the game. My prediction: Higgins to win it by 18-14 or 18-15.

Williams takes a 4-0 headstart, Higgins responds with a 119 break.

5-3 now. Gonna be tense. We haven't seen a World Championship final going to a decider since 2002.

Higgins 10-15 behind after the third session, but he's won the first three in session 4 after a 131 break and two amazing clearances. He's coming for you, Mark :P

Oh shit, Williams was a pink away from winning the whole Championship, but he missed it! Higgins is still in this, 16-17.

Mark wins by 18 frames to 16. Great tournament; I have been binge watching nearly all the matches since its start, time to move back to watching some movies in my spare time again. :)

game 1 last night was hysterical. LeBron puts up the greatest game of his life (one of the greatest games anyone has had, ever), the referees are obviously cookin' this thing, and JR...well, he's JR, what did they expect would happen. also, underrated how bad Jordan Clarkson is. a-and, I know Tristan Thompson is only there for his defense, but damn he needs to learn how to score. basically, this is a bad Cavs team that thru a combination of Playoff LeBronTM, opponent injuries and general coaching/playmaking incompetence/youthful mistakes, he has somehow got them to the Finals, which is a near-miracle on its own.

NBA'll do everything they can to get this series to go as long as possible, but this should be 4 game sweep because there's no way LeBron can do that again.

That was an epic blunder there after the free throw... He could have scored and ended the match.

I saw that this morning. That's ridiculous.

I mean, 11 majors would put you tied for 6th in most Men's majors, and in 8th place for Women's majors. And to do that all at a single venue/tournament is absurd.

LeBron to the Lakers...ugh. I guess he's given up on winning more titles and just wants to ride out his career in his "second home" city. As a Sixers fan, I admit I would have been pretty ecstatic if he had come here, but while the Sixers were "in the mix" it never seemed realistic that he would actually sign here. With Paul George staying in OKC, I guess all eyes are on Kawhi Leonard now and I'd love the Sixers to make a push for him but I think we'll be left empty-handed this offseason.

nah he just had a ruptured achilles, I doubt anyone was offering him much more than that.

the Lakers' record might improve quite a bit but they're still a middle-to-bottom of the conference playoff seed type team.

this is of course predicated on Kawhi going to the sixers or the celtics. if he does end up on the Lakers (they would have to move most of those high picks they've accumulated over the last five-ish years), then yeah, it's probably Warriors, Rockets, Lakers, Celtics. Lakers only flaw is they wouldn't have an elite scorer unless Rondo turns back the clock a decade or Ingram, Kuzma and/or Ball actually figure out how to baskets. Oh and their young guys still don't know how to play defense and their old guys, sans LeBron, are all low BBIQ guys, so it's the same situation Bron was in in Cleveland, he's going to have to create and make all the plays by himself.

Today simultaneously occurring are Tour de France stage 1, Wimbledon final 32 part 2 (Djokovic, Nadal, Del Potro), Football WC QFs and an F1 stage (Silverstone qualification, I hate driving this track). What a time to be alive. [Although none of these are particularly exciting to me personally, at least at the current stage, only popular.]

Anyone see/hear about the Isner/Anderson match at Wimbledon? Longest semi-final match in tournament history, longest single-day match in tournament history, with the 5th set ending in 26-24 for Anderson.

You know, John Isner, the winner of the longest tennis match in history.

Yep, I was checking out the scoreboard yday at about 14 all before bedtime.
That's when I thought is it going to be #2 longest? And Isner once again, but this time he lost.

If Anderson somehow beats Nadal/Djokovic in the final, he'll become a late member of a "Lil four" I guess, folks that won a grand slam during the Big three's domination.

So both semis were the longest semis in Wimbledon history (1st and 3rd in all slams). Djokovic also played in the previous longest, so he's got 2nd and 3rd-longest now.
Djokovic-Nadal was probably the real final here.

That was my thought too - After those back-to-back 5 setters, I'd be surprised if Anderson will be able to be better than just not looking silly.

Didn't see the match, but I woke up to the headline that was basically "Djokovic breezes past a fatigued Anderson..." At least Anderson got the 3rd set to a tiebreaker?

I'm really surprised that people are defending SW's behaviour and general abuse. It's not the first time she's done this and I believe most men would've gotten a suspension by now.
