Dennis won this for Ineos and Hart. Sunweb tactics looked sketchy on Thursday, but not sure if it would have made a difference in the final standings if Hindley had waited. Well, 2 and 3 in the final standings and a stage win, it is likely more than they hoped beforehand.

Kelderman could've been closer (as he lost a lot of time in the flats) and is better in the time trial. At least they would've still had a shot, now it looks hopeless.

Kelderman needed to be wthin half a minute of Hart to have a shot, I don't think that would have happened anyway. What Sunweb needed was a better Oomen basically.

Tao was a lot colder than Jai in 1st ITT. Jai beat Wilco too.

Amazing that he came back from 19th the day before stage 9 where he started making gains and 24th after stage 3.
That's over 3 minutes down on Joao and 1.5min down on Jai.

That was due to changing wind conditions. Normally the order would be Wilco, Tao, Jai, as was the order in all other ITT they competed in together.

No surprise there then. We have bragging rights to watching the closest margin before last stage ever be formed in a GT. Nevermind it's among long shots and domestiques.

Not so the Vuelta.

Anyone think we're lucky Primoz nerfed himself by not going to Giro with its TT kilometers?

Primoz has trouble with 3 week races. Giro would have been too much for him also. He won a monument after the Tour, got a stage in Vuelta, he has no reason to complain about this season.

Except Farrapona, I've climbed all the mountain passes of this weekend myself and have to say the really tough ones are Cobertoria and Angliru. Those roads can be pretty dangerous when wet but luckily it seems that weather's going to be mostly warm and sunny, something quite unusual for this place at this time of the year.

Froome hasn't scored a single UCI point in 17 months and 39 race days. In this Vuelta he's not looking great either. I wonder if he will ever get a decent result again.

Watching Angliru without the usual herds of noisy spectators is weird but definitely gives a much better view of the race and is no less exciting. I wouldn't mind at all if they decide to keep on doing it like that from now on.

hmm bothered by existential questions

“For too long I feel a big pressure to perform and I feel that I always want to do the best for the team, for all the sponsors, the fans etc. But in that process I forgot my myself a bit. I forgot what I actually want within this sport and with my future. Because I don’t have this answer clear for myself I’m actually also not doing the best for the people around me.

"I really need the time to get things clear in my head about what I want and how I want it. It feels really good to take this step and I feel very supported by my friends and family and the team to take this step. Taking the decision immediately felt like a big weight of my shoulders. I’m going to do a lot of thinking and talking to a lot of people and I’m very confident that I will find the answers the coming period.”

That sounds surreal.

I guess it has a lot to do with the weather and/or infrastructure of the roads?

Never any need. Public transport + legs works good enough. I'm also quite wary of falling off one. And being on the road also feels like extra risky business. On top of that, hardware is not free. The cheapest bike is definitely more than I spend a month (twice as much probably), and I'm on a tight budget.

Same reason any other sport that I follow does. Not because I enjoy performing the activity myself.
Action.

I take it you like something about bikes specifically?

I actually enjoy much more cycling myself than watching others do it (on TV or whatever) and definitely feel much better as long as I can ride at least once a week. Beyond its practical use (not so much in my hilly town actually) for commuting and the like, it is a great way to keep myself relaxed and in good shape, both physically and mentally. Luckily, I live in a place where trails, tracks and small roads with barely any traffic at all are all around. A sort of humble paradise for mountain bikes and lovers of steep road cycling. And this is my current 29er baby (I've also had cross, road and BMX bicycles before):
